The Hybrid’s Second Chance -
Chapter 18
Logan's POV
The pain was finally starting to subside from my chest. I had slid down the wall and was sitting on the floor trying to catch my breath.
"Did she just reject us?"
"I think so," Levi said.
"That's not possible. She's just an omega, she doesn't have that kind of power."
"We should go talk to her now." He was right. I managed to get myself to my feet and started making my way to my apartment. I noticed the guard was no longer outside the door. "That doesn't make any sense. Why is the guard gone?" Levi asked me.
"I don't know." I burst through the door and noticed I didn't smell her scent that strongly.
"Julianna!" I yelled into the room, but all that followed was silence. Running into the bedroom, I looked around but saw nothing. All her things were still there in their boxes, she never even unpacked anything. I checked the closet and bathroom before running back out to the living room. Scanning the room, I noticed the balcony door was ajar. I pushed it open and noticed the lounge chair had been moved. On the ground next to it was a pad of paper. Picking it up, I saw drawings I assumed Julianna had done. There were two that looked like the pack lands, but the third was of a large black wolf. The word Sofia was written on the bottom.
"Is that her wolf?" Levi questioned.
"It must be, but I don't understand. Only Alpha's have black wolves." I stared at the drawing for a while, admiring all the detail she'd put into it. "We need to go speak to my dad, now." I tore towards his office, determined to get to the bottom of what was happening, basically breaking down the door as I went in. He wasn't in his office, which was weird.
"Dad, where are you? I need to speak with you now!" But he didn't answer me. "Marvin, are you with my dad?" Marvin didn't answer me either.
"Where is everyone?" Levi asked. I left my dad's office and headed down to the first floor. When the elevator doors opened, it was clear something was happening. The front doors were open, and a huge crowd of people was outside. As I got closer, I could hear people shouting.
"Logan!" lan was shouting and waving at me from the crowd.
"What's happening?" I asked as I approached.
"Apparently Beta Marvin was supposed to kill the hybrid, but he took her into the woods with a bunch of warriors and attacked them so she could get away! Your dad ran into the woods after him, and we're all waiting to see what's gonna happen." My heart stopped beating in my chest.
"Marvin did what?" Was all I could say. Levi was frozen with fear in his mind.
"He was gonna kill her. I guess your dad told him to. Didn't you know? I thought you would be in on the plan."
"No, I... I didn't know."
"Did he kill her? Is that why we felt the pain?"
"I don't know. He couldn't have. Marvin was always soft on her. There's no way he could kill her."
"Look, someone's coming out of the woods!" Someone shouted. I pushed to the front to get a better look. My dad was in the front, with a few warriors behind him. Behind the warriors, I saw Marvin and Sandra both in chains. Blood was covering both of them, and a few of the warriors were nursing injuries. So, what lan had told me was true, my dad had ordered Marvin to kill Julia, at least that's what it looked like. I marched towards my dad, set on confronting him, even in front of all these pack members. "DAD! Did you order Marvin to kill Julia?!"
"Not now, Logan," he yelled back.
"No, I want answers now! Did you try and have her killed?"
"YES, YES I DID!" He roared in my face.
"WHY!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"
"BECAUSE YOU WERE FALLING FOR HER, THAT'S WHY!" I heard gasping from the people behind us. "Alexis told me you were falling for her. That, combined with what you told me about taking her as your mate, solidified her fate. She had to be eliminated to protect this pack. She would ruin everything if she became the Luna!"
"That wasn't your decision to make! She's, my mate!"
"Not anymore. Marvin said he told her to reject you. She's not your mate anymore."
"Where is she?!" I asked.
"Gone, she took off and no one was able to follow her because Marvin had betrayed us and attacked his own pack members. It appears Sandra also joined him." I was about to open my mouth to scream and rant at him, but then I remembered his comment about not giving me the Alpha title because of Julia. I decided to play along, because I needed to become the Alpha if I was going to replace Julia and bring her back where she belonged.
"Fine, she's gone, and I accept that. What are you going to do with the two of them?" He looked slightly taken aback by my words but didn't say anything.
"I haven't decided yet. For now, they're going to the dungeons, and after tomorrow I'll figure out what to do with them." Levi perked up his ears.
"If he said after tomorrow, that means the ceremony is still going to happen."
"I know that we just need to keep quiet a little while longer." My dad continued on, passed me, followed by the warriors, one yanking on the chains, attached to Marvin and Sandra. They both gave me glaring hateful looks as they passed. "You might want to go replace Alexis and talk to her. She was pretty pi**ed when she came to talk to me." My dad said over his shoulder. Alexis, I thought to myself. She was one of the catalysts in all of this.
"Alexis, where are you?" I asked her.
"I'm waiting in your apartment for you. The skink of the hybrid is everywhere." Levi snarled. He was mad at her disrespect but also that she was in our space acting as if nothing had happened. The crowd of people was starting to disperse, as my dad had disappeared in the direction of the dungeons. I stomped to my apartment, stopping just outside the door to calm myself and my wolf. Taking a few deep breaths, I reminded Levi not to fly off the handle no matter how much he wanted to. I opened the door and saw Alexis perched on the back of the couch. As I closed the door, she stood up and walked over to me with a satisfied look on her face.
"I heard what you did, talking to my father."
"Well, I had to. Clearly, the mate bond with the hybrid was clouding your judgement." She lifted her hand and ran it down the front of my shirt. "Now that she's gone for good, we can get back to our life as normal. I'm sorry I had to go behind your back, but I had no other options."
"She doesn't know Julia got away. She must think she's dead," Levi said.
"Let's try to keep it that way, at least until after tomorrow." She leaned in and kissed me, and I kissed her back. She pulled away and whispered,
"I'm happy you survived the pain. It would have been a shame if it had killed you."
"Well, it didn't, and after tomorrow I'll be the one in power."
"Have you thought anymore about me being Luna?"
"Oh, all I've been thinking about is who's gonna be my Luna." I grabbed her under her a**, making her gasp because she wasn't expecting it. I looked into her perfectly done up face, thinking of something to say. "Shouldn't you take me as your Luna tomorrow?"
"I think we should wait. Don't you want your own time in the spotlight?" She smiled and kissed me hard. I carried her to the couch and sat down so she was straddling me. I was angry with her, but that didn't mean I wasn't going to take the opportunity for s*x when it presented itself. It would also make Alexis think everything was back to normal. She was wearing a strapless sundress, and I wasted no time in ripping the thin fabric in two with my bare hands. Alexis grabbed the bottom of my shirt, and lifted it over my head, running her hand over my chest.
She wasn't wearing a bra, so I immediately captured her ni**le in my mouth and sucked on it hard, causing her to throw back her head and moan out. I felt her undoing my belt and the button on my jeans. I helped her push them down, causing my hard on to spring to life. The only clothes Alexis had on was a small thong, which I easily tore from her body with the flick of my finger.
We spent the next several hours having s*x over every inch of my apartment. First the couch, then in the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Alexis had passed out in my bed, and I crept out, so I didn't wake her to retrieve Julia's drawings. I didn't want anyone to know yet that I suspected she was the daughter of an Alpha.
"We're going to bring her back, right?"
"Yes, if I have anything to say about it. Julia will be back here in my arms taking back her rejection in a matter of weeks."
