“Silveen?” Rosie called with surprise and the other man looked from her to me in confusion.

“Why do you look so surprised? I thought you would be happy to see me?” I said as I looked at her, but she didn’t say a word, her grip on the dagger only tightened,

So I continued, “The last time we met, I heard you left before the show at the underground arena even began, I hope you like this show better.” I said again, and she looked at the body of her dead comrade, and looked at me with disgust.

“You monster!” she said with horror and I laughed.

These days, I have been becoming quite comfortable hearing that word. In fact, I think it’s a compliment.

“Why, I only killed a few men and you think I was a monster?” I scoffed, “I wonder what you would say, when you hear of what I’d done to those in the Grata night pack and the packs you’ve been spending the night in.” I said leisurely, ignoring the fact that I was still butt naked and that my stomach and shoulder were bleeding.

Rosie’s eyes constantly drifted to my injuries.

“What did you do to them?” I heard the other man say, fear and worry in his voice. I looked at him as if he didn’t even matter.

“I killed them all,” I said with a sinister smile and he gasped.

“How dare you! I’m going to kill you.....” He tried to attack but Rosie pulled him back.

“What’s wrong with him?” I asked casually, as if we were all friends, but i actually had a hunch.

“His family lives in Grata night.” Rosie said with gritted teeth.

“Oh?” I said, then smiled and turned to the man, “Don’t worry, they didn’t suffer too much, they suffocated. It was a terrible sight.” I said as I shook my head pitifully, enraging the man more.

He freed himself from Rosie’s grip and longed for me, his wolf showing, hoping to stab me, dodging, I made a quick slit, tearing open his abdomen with my claws.

He held onto his injury, as his own blood filled his hands, his face crunching up in pain as he looked at me. I also looked at him,

“Don’t you think you are overreacting? You think it is okay to kill my loved ones but I am not allowed to touch yours?” I asked with a sneer as he fell to the ground lifeless.

I stared at him without mercy, then looked at Rosie who was looking at me.

“Finally, we get an alone time.” I said, and she looked at my injuries again.

“What do you want?” she said and I laughed.

“You really don’t know? You owe me Rosie, or shall I say Amanda?” I said and she frowned.

“I could be very useful to you,” she said, and I smiled.

“You need to stop staring at my injuries, I am not going to bleed to death, even if that’s what you want.” I said with amusement.

“You won’t make it there in your state.” She said and I raised a brow, “let me help you.” She said and I lunged for her, grabbing her by the throat and slamming her against a tree.

“You think I would let a traitor like you be my guide to Alpha Dante? You think I am that stupid?” I asked her with anger.

How dare she think that I would forget what had happened to Adela and just let her go scott-free.

She clawed at my hands as she choked.

“Even if Alpha Dante was the mastermind, you killed her.” I said again with anger, and by now, she had begun to slap my hand and shoulder, as she couldn’t speak.

I held her in that state until she went silent, then I let go, and her body dropped to the ground with a thud.

I sighed as I stared at her body, an odd sense of relief flooded my body, and it felt like my eyesight cleared a bit.

My eyes were not back to normal, but I knew the strange glow was gone.

Now, I felt the intensity of my injuries as I fell on my knees and held onto my abdomen where the bullet hole was, as I groaned loudly at the pain.

.....................................

I gently slapped the face of the man, whose name I was now sure was Rohan.

It was morning, and the sun was shining brightly, its rays filtered through the trees, illuminating the canopies of the trees and creating a transcendent look on the forest floor.

The man, Rohan, opened his eyes slowly and for a second stared at me with confusion. Slowly, recognition flashed across his eyes and he immediately got up but he was bound. I had bound him earlier.

I watched as he began to struggle at first but suddenly began to vomit a large quantity of blood. I eyed him up and down, as I crouched in front of him.

“I wouldn’t move so quickly if I were you. The wolfbane in your system is too strong. If you try to fight, it would kill you instantly,” I said, and he looked at me with surprise and confusion.

“You should know more about it, since it belonged to you,” I said.

After Rosie’s death last night, I went through their belongings, found clothes to wear, a few throwing knives and even a few bullets. I also found a large syringe case containing what I guessed was Wolfbane, so I injected Rohan to try it out and was sure it worked.

I had claimed ownership of all their belongings, even used their fire to roast a game for myself. That was after pulling out the bullet in my stomach and wrapping it up with the bandage I found in their belongings.

Now I was dressed in a white T-shirt and black skinny pants.

When it was dawn, I went to check on the Rohan guy and, sure enough, he was still sleeping. The moment the wolf bane enters a werewolf’s system, it alters the rapid processing of the system and prevents it from functioning normally. Thus, his brain couldn’t recover from the blow I gave him last night as fast as it normally should.

Apart from that, his wolf would be detached and any pack of his nearby would not be able to reach him, even if they tried. At this point, I didn’t know how close we were to Alpha Dante’s border, so I just had to be on the safer side.

I waved the syringe in front of him and his face twisted in pain.

“This?!” he looked from the syringe to me in horror, surprising even me. I also turned my gaze to the syringe. Did I miss something?

“Rieka? Did I miss something?” I asked her, but she only sighed and I frowned.

“His wolf is dead.” She said with frustration and my eyes widened,

“What?! How!”

“What have you done!” he shouted at me painfully, disrupting my thought process, and I raised a brow.

“I don’t know, but Adela’s wolf was also gone,” Rieka replied, totally ignoring the angry male, and my mouth almost dropped wide open.

“And you didn’t think to tell me that piece of information because?” I asked angrily.

“She was dying, a werewolf’s wolf naturally dies before the werewolf, so how was I to know that hers was dead from a different cause?” she also scolded and I was dumbfounded.

“A different cause?” I looked at the syringe in my hand and then looked at the man angrily,

This syringe was it just wolf bane I wondered? I know Wolf bane was lethal, but then, could it really kill an Austan that easily? She was also bleeding around the abdomen....

“Just tell me what I need to know and I might let you go.” I said to him with a sigh as I threw the empty syringe away.

“What is the essence of being alive when my wolf is gone!” he shouted, and i raised my brow.

“He knows,” I observed.

“Of course, he knows,” Rieka said with an irritated voice, and I frowned at her. Why was she on edge?

“Let me talk to him.” she said.

“Why, what for?” I asked.

“Just let me.” She said and I sighed, letting her take control.

“Why is your wolf gone?” Rieka asked with uncertainty, and the man looked up at her noticing something, probably realizing that it was the wolf talking now.

“You killed my wolf! You witch!” he shouted, painful tears falling from his eyes and I was surprised a little.

When have I seen a male wolf cry?

“Try losing a life companion and see how that feels.” Rieka said, and I frowned.

“What on earth is wrong with you?” I said angrily, but she ignored me and turned to the man.

“This wolf bane kills people’s wolves?” Rieka asked him again, as if to clarify a hunch and I also caught a glimpse of her thought.

Was that what this wolfbane does? Does it kill people’s wolves? Did they......

I pushed Rieka back into my mind and took control immediately. She only rolled her eyes and sighed as she began to complain,

“I wasn’t fini......”

I cut the link and stared at the crying man.

“Did you give this to the dark mistress?” I asked with uncertainty and he laughed hysterically. I knew it was only a matter of time before he lost his mind and went mad.

“If we didn’t, how do you think we would have been able to kill her?” he asked and my heart clenched as tears formed in my eyes.

These bastards, they had her go through the pain and madness of losing her wolf? No wonder she could die so easily, no wonder. I wept, totally forgetting about him.

I should have given them a more brutal death. I should have given Rosie a more brutal death. I thought to myself as I mourned Adela once again.

The man who sat in front of me wept for his wolf. When a werewolf loses his wolf, they become even weaker than a human.

So, just like that, we both sat on the forest floor weeping, but for different purposes, anyone who saw us now would think we were comrades and that we mourned for the same purpose, but in fact he wasn’t going to get out of this alive.

None of those involved are.

I looked at him, “you have caused me pain that even your death cannot suffice.” I said with venom and he looked at me, fear in his eyes.

He was now like a fifteen-year-old child in front of an adult, even though he was a grown man and probably older than me.

“Take me to Alpha Dante’s pack!” I said to him and he laughed.

“You are crazy! I can’t go back there! He would kill me! He would kill us both.” He said and I raised a brow.

Like he cared if I lived or died.

“You will do as I say, human, or I will stab you with more of those syringes and give you the most excruciating death.” I said to him angrily and he looked at me, his eyes flashed with pain.

The most insulting word for our species is to be called a human. We believed they were a lower species than us. Now he was one, if not even lower.

“Do you understand!” I yelled.
