The Last Royal Luna
Chapter 30

I sat down in exhaustion and quiet fury from the lack of respect that keeps happening. Had my parents been gone long enough for everyone to forget the power the royals held or the leadership levels within the pack and all of the wolf community? I just shook my head and wiped my face.

“Are you ok Ryder?” Asher came up to me and started to rub my back. I leaned into his hand and the comfort he was offering me. He has no idea how much his comforting me has made me feel and I want to show him later with tons of k****s. I can see Blake and Andrew wanting to head my way but I shake my head. I don’t need everyone crowding me.

“I am fine, Mate.” Blue growls possessively and I second her meaning. I turned toward the rest of the group to finish this long discussion so I could take a nap before figuring out this mate crap we have going on. “Ok, so the power struggle is over so lets get down to business. I cannot be the Alpha of the pack nor any pack because I am a royal and the true leader of my parents pack. I regret having to turn down the position because I can see the potential of this pack but I know there is someone who can lead this pack back into the glory days and it would be without the power hungry tyrants. I will be the alpha until we replace a suitable leader who willingly takes the position.”

“We understand your position and hope that we can replace a suitable leader that would do the pack well just as you would have done. Do you have anyone in mind?” Julian asked looking over at my mates.

“I do. My mates cannot be the alpha’s either because they will be leading all of the werewolf community with me so I believe next in line should be Andrew and Asher’s sister, Sandra. Can you call for her, Andrew?” He nodded and the way his eyes changed I could tell he was mind linking her to make her way here. I hope she would take this position. If she was anything like Asher and Andrew she would have the loyalty, power, and respect that this pack needs but I didn’t know her to know if she was different than her father.

“She and her mate are on their way. Her mate’s name is Samuel and he is one of the top warriors here. “ I nodded and looked back over at the beta to see what his reaction was. I could tell he was saddened that his son couldn’t take the position and I hoped he wouldn’t hold that against our future relationship.

“A female alpha that did not earn the spot with a fight to the death against the current alpha? That hasn’t ever been done and I do not think that most of the pack would agree with that.” It was one of the elders speaking out and putting his foot in his mouth.

“You don’t think the pack will like it or is it that you are still stuck in the past where you shoved women into the home, kept them pregnant, and thought you controlled everything when really we ran the show behind your back and picked up all your slack?” I heard snickering from my mates and the women in the room. I just smiled and grabbed my pants hard enough to turn my knuckles white. I hated this way of thinking. “So here is a question for you. Do you think that a female shouldn’t be a royal? That I shouldn’t be able to take the throne because I have the female reproductive organs?”

He was flustered and his face had turned red. The other male elders were looking just like him and all stared at me with hate. ‘They need to get the stick out of their butts!’ Blue snickered. I had to hide my smile behind my hand but I could tell Blake caught the smile. He just shook his head and faced the ground with his half smile.

“Nothing to say? Great. Let’s keep it that way if that is how you think. All wolfs are strong, loyal, kind, and fierce in their own way. A woman can easily kick a mans a*s like I have proven twice just yesterday. Also a man can have more talents at keeping his children in line and staying back to help with the families. “

A knock came from the door and Andrew opened it quickly before grabbing his sister into a hug. She laughed a huge laugh and I knew right then she was going to a be a good friend of mine. I am loud and I am proud of it.

“Put me down, butt face! I need to look professional for the Luna.” She shoved him away and turned to me. She started to kneel but I grabbed her hands before she could.

“Please don’t kneel. I may be the winner of the alpha fight and a royal but I am really just a regular wolf who is so excited to meet her mates sister.” It took her a second but she nodded before punching Andrew in the arm. He glared at her while rubbing his arm.

“You found your mate and didn’t tell me? What the hell is wrong with you?” She glared right back at him before turning back to me,

“I am so sorry you are stuck with this brother for a mate. I really prefer Asher as a brother and he would be a better mate but I have feeling you can train Andrew.” She laughed but stopped when she saw me laughing hard enough to hold onto my stomach.

“I agree that Asher would make a better mate so I am glad that he is also my mate. Blake is still up in the air depending on how he makes up for his past but he is my third mate.” I was a bit nervous for her reaction since she is the older sister and protective of her brothers. I know I would be if I had any siblings.

“You have three mates and two of them are my brothers?” She just shakes her head and grimaces. “Both of them can be a pain in the a*s separately but together…Good luck.” She turned around and realized her mate was behind her looking smug. “Oh s**t. I forgot to introduce my mate, Samuel.” She pulls him forward and k****s his cheek. He just winks at her and you could tell he forgave her way before she even noticed what was going on.

“Hello Samuel. I heard what a great warrior you are and with this spit fire next to you, I believe it is a good thing.” I shook his hand and smiled whispering something into Sandra’s ear.

“Ok so Andrew mentioned you had something important to discuss and I am not trying to rush you but my nerves are making my insides freak out a bit.”

“I understand that completely. My nerves were shot before we even pulled up to the pack house so let’s get your nerves settled. Please have a seat. My mates can stand since they already know what is going to happen.” The both sat down and my mates nodded at me as they leaned against the wall while I sat to ask her to be Luna but I had to be interrupted as usual.

“If you are still going to push this farther I would rather just leave and wait for the pack to shoot it down. Your being disrespectful of the pack laws and traditions. I will not stand for it and neither will the other elders.” The same damn elder speaking out of turn again with the gamma laughing behind him.

“Ok. You can leave. When you get back to your houses go ahead and pack up your houses. No one who followed the old alpha and still wants to follow this crap traditions can head on out to a new pack. This one is starting off fresh and stronger than ever.” I nodded at the door and turned back toward Sandra. Her mouth was open and she looked confused.

“You will be sorry. Mark my words.” The men got up and headed toward the door without even noticing the two female elders didn’t move from their spots. ‘Good for them!’ Blue shouted. I just ignored them.

“Sandra, you know that I defeated your father last night and became the leader of this pack.” I waited so I could see her nod. “I cannot take this position on permanently because I have a lot to do to win our rights back from the witches and vampires. My mates will be coming with me to help and to grow in their own abilities. I know that you come from a strong family line and your brothers have complete faith in your ability to lead. I am hoping that you will take on the leadership role here as the leading alpha.” I couldn’t help but hold my breath.

“What? Me? A leader?” She looked at both her brothers and then her mate waiting for someone to tell her it was all a joke but no one spoke. They all just smiled at her letting her feel how proud they were of her.

“Yes, you. You have always looked out for Andrew and I even if we were being little shits to you. You were able to handle dad a lot better than we ever could. You just want what is best for the pack and now what is best for yourself.” Asher walked over to her and hugged her. He kissed her on the cheek, “ Plus calling Samuel Luna will be a blast!” He winked at him and stepped back. Samuels face was shocked before looking over at Sandra and me. We both were just laughing and shook our head at him.

“No way am I being called a Luna. It is a term for a female leader not a male. It isn’t anything sexist but just look up the meaning. We will have to come up with another name” He sounded a bit freaked out but Sandra just patted his shoulder with a smile.

“Well if we can think of another name for my mate, then I am all in. I just want to make sure that you are ready for this and the pack is ready for this.” She seemed a bit unsure but the pack would follow whoever I said. I was going to be nice about it until I couldn’t.

“You will do great things and the pack may have an issue at first especially if they are like the old farts who left the room but they will learn that you were the right choice. Right now is a time for us to band together so we can win back our freedom. Your pack is lucky no vampires have over run you but they will eventually if we keep letting them have their way. I am going to right all the wrongs that have happened to us and I want strong leaders at my side, that is including you. What do you say?” I stood up and held out my hand.

She jumped up and grabbed my hand tightly. “Hell yes, sister. Let’s take back what is ours and I will show this pack a true leader set on helping everyone.” She smiled the biggest smile before pulling me in for a big hug. Everyone laughed and told her congratulations.

“Great. For now lets call this meeting to an end so I can get some shut eye and tomorrow we can start to plan for a ceremony. I do have school tomorrow and so do the boys so I am hoping Natasha would help you out with planning it.” I looked over at her and saw the joy in her face. I knew I hit a jackpot with that one and even Blake was smiling. “I am guessing that is a yes by the smile on her face. I have another pack to go to in a few days to do this same thing with and hopefully it goes just as well.” I hug Sandra and Natasha before shaking the men’s hands. I smile brightly at the female elders before they snuck out. All that was left was dealing with the gamma.

“Luna Ryder, I think a night or two in the cells would help the gamma figure out his decisions. Asher mind linked me a brief summary of what happened and I know it would help. “ Samuel smirked at the gamma and Richard before looking back over at me.

“I think you may be right. Richard has school tomorrow so he can just go home to his mother but I think some extra patrols around the jail and near their home will help keep them in line. “

Richard growled and jumped from his seat, sending it into the wall hard enough to break the chair to pieces. “My father will not be put in the jail. Just because you can’t handle someone having a different opinion than you doesn’t mean you get to treat them like dirt. You’re a self-centered little brat who I would love to tear some pieces…” Before he could finish his threat all three of my mates growled pushing their wolfs forward. You could feel the tension in the air and everyone’s back straightened.

“What did you say to my mate, Richard? Remember that being my friend only gets you so far with your words and actions against her.” Andrew stepped forward with Blake and Asher flanking him.

“I don’t care if she is your POTENTIAL mate seeing as how neither of you have claimed one another. I still think you should go with Melanie. At least you know how she is in bed and she will listen to what you have to stay.” Richard crossed his arms with a smirk. He knew he was laying out Andrew’s dirty laundry but he should know I knew my mate’s weren’t virgins so this literally did nothing for me.

“Richard, We are done. What ever Ryder decides is what happens. If she tells us to throw your a*s off a cliff the first thing, I am going to ask is how tall a cliff. Get my drift?” Andrew smirked knowing he made his point when Richard’s face went slack.

“Damn it, Andrew!” I yelled. Everyone jumped in shock and looked at me. “How do you keep earning these damn brownie points when I am coming with all these ways to torture you and Blake for being s**t heads in school!” I put my hands on my h**s and glared while my mates laughed at me. They knew I wasn’t really mad at them but what they didn’t know was if they kept up putting stupid people in their places but not trying to fight all my battles my forgiveness may come sooner than I had planned.
