The Last Royal Luna -
Chapter 45
We were only about three minutes late to the noon meeting and I thought that was smashing success for us. Beta Julian was laughing, knowing what we were up too since he saw us this morning. I shushed him with a smile before getting down to business. I asked if there was anything that I needed to be aware of before we started in on the changes that are about to be made.
“I have something to share.” One of the few elders who stayed stands up to speak. “I was in town getting my hair done and I overheard a few of the ladies of the pack discussing the Gamma and his family. It sounded like new things they were speaking of such as why they were staying where they were and how Richard is handling online schooling. When I confronted them they acted like I didn’t hear them correctly and they would never talk to a traitor of the pack but I am not that old just yet.”
“Do you know who they were?” I held back some anger since it wasn’t her fault she didn’t say anything before. I hadn’t really been here and it seemed like the elders were supposed to keep to themselves. Maybe the pack thought old age was contagious.
“It was Melanie, Lindsay, Emily, and their mothers. There may have been a few others but I couldn’t pick them out of a crowd.” She looked as if she failed the pack with her sorrow-filled face.
“Thank you for telling us. A lot of people would just try to stay as uninvolved as they can which ends up leading the pack to disaster and people getting hurt. The gamma and his family, along with a few elders who sided with them are traitors to this pack. They only wanted the power and they didn’t care who they hurt in the process. If you hear anything else please come replace me or Sandra to tell us.” She nodded and sat down.
I looked at Sandra before whispering to her, “ Put a detail on them without telling them why or who the main target it. I want eyes on them wherever they go and ears listening to all conversations they make. I would also like a few warriors to spend some ‘vacation’ time in town listening for anything that stands out.” She nodded before turning back to the meeting.
Asher and Andrew stood up next to discuss the training we are going to be implementing. They would be training in the mornings at 5am and 7am open to anyone seven days a week. Evening training would also be seven days a week at 4pm and 7pm. Anyone twelve and older would be at two or more training sessions no excuses. Even if they hadn’t shifted they needed to be ready to help defend the others in the safe houses we put them in. I wanted to make sure we had every advantage when going against these bloodsuckers and hags. Everyone was a little worried about the training schedule being too much for the head warriors to take on since it was four classes a day. We fixed by picking three other warriors who were top ranked to take on some of them. We all needed it and especially me.
“I also want to go over the rotation of the wolves who keep our borders safe. I want to see who goes where and how often. I would like to add myself to each shift and side so I can map it out in my head.” The head warrior nodded and wrote it down to add me to the list of rotation. My guys had a scowl on their faces but I needed to do this. I didn’t live the pack life and I needed to be involved to learn of any weaknesses I may see as a different pair of eyes.
“Sounds good. The members who just joined us from the Blue Lunar Pack are wanting to start working. I sent them each a list of positions that were available.” Julian nodded at Alistair to know that we cared about the newest members.
“Good idea. So I have three more things to announce before we end the meeting. One is that my parents are adopting Trixie, the two-year-old I saved from Blue Lunar Pack, as long as everything goes as planned today. They are so excited. She will be living off the pack lands but she will be back daily to stay at the day care or visit her friends.” The rooms smiles and nods. I am so excited to see her face when she realizes my dad is the biggest softy ever and that my mom bakes the best desserts. “Second announcement is that I sat down with the school principal who ended up being a bear shifter who supports our cause and he decided to graduate my mates and I early so we are done with high school so our sole focus will be on this pack and getting ourselves ready for travel.” I could see Sandra beaming at Andrew and Blake smiling at his dad. I was glad this happened for us.
Congratulations!” A few elders told the guys and really did look like they meant it.
“Last but not least announcement is that Andrew, Asher, Blake, and I have officially mated and marked each other as of today! I think its time to plan a party to celebrate and announce it!” With that announcement every one stands and wants to shake our hand with excitement. I hadn’t told them that I had three other mates but I will deal with that when the times comes. With the other mates I will do a ceremony for our mating and marking at their pack.
I went and grabbed Trixie from the daycare center and we headed to my parents. I sat in the back with her so she could tell me all about her day and even stories about shifters in love. She giggled when she said love and it made my day. Blue wanted to rub her head against Trixie to get all the pets and loving’s she could get. I could tell she was a bit nervous about meeting my mom and dad but she had nothing to worry about. It only took about thirty minutes to get to my parents and they were waiting outside. I could see how tense they were and I hated that for them. If they could of just had other kids who would have been safe and loved like me.. quit thinking like that Ryder.
“Hey mom! Hey dad. There is a girl here who wants to meet you but is feeling a bit shy. “ I wink at Trixie who giggles. She is not shy around me but I knew as soon as she got out she would be. Mom instantly knew to be ready for anything and to just proceed with caution and love.
“Hey there Trixie. Ryder has told us so much about you and I just couldn’t wait for you to get here so that we could play with some baby dolls and even have a tea party. What do you think about that?” My mom made sure she was eye level with her by kneeling. We could all see the indecision on Trixie’s face but my mom won out. Before I could even let go of her hand all the way she was running toward my mom. She grabbed her hand to tell her go. It made my dad and mom giggle. They went inside with her. I stayed outside for a few minutes to give them a little bit of time to adjust and get to where they were going to get comfortable before my three mates and I barged in and Trixie tried to reattach herself to me.
“Hey Ryder?” Blake said as he walked closer along with Asher and Andrew.
“Yeah?” I kept my eyes and ears trained mostly on the house to make sure everything was ok.
“Do you want kids? You seem really good with Trixie but even if you’re really good kids some people still don’t want them.” I can see the hope in his eyes and in my other mates eyes.
“I love kids and I would love to have kids but not until after the war is over. I would hate to bring them into this world knowing that a vampire could take them at any moment or a witch could curse them or try to take their natural magic so they’re unable to shift anymore.” They all nodded in agreement.
Andrew of course had to put his two cents in, “so are you going to have a kid with all of us so we’ll have at least six pups running around?” I just grown and told him to get his own uterus which made them all laughed while we headed inside It did get me to thinking about if I really would have at least six pups with them so all of them had a biological kid. Would they love the others just as much or would they favor their child if they knew? Could I handle six pups and handle being an Alpha? Only one would end up being king so what about the others? Blue comforted me and told me to think on this when I didn’t have so many others things to take care of.
