The Last Royal Luna -
(Book 2) – Chapter 1
“So where are we meeting this friend of your dad’s again?” I asked Knox as he was driving down the highway.
“He said he was closer to the Rock Haven Pack so we are stopping the town over at a diner there. It’s a public place so no shady business on either side.” He reached over and grabbed my hand giving it a squeeze before pulling it into his lap.
I am glad that are finally on the road but my nerves are killing me. I looked back to see what Kane thought about meeting a vampire but he was already sawing logs. What a lazy butt. I just shook my head.
“The car has always put him to sleep. He could of slept a full day before a car ride and within an hour he is out like a log. He is dead to the world until we park somewhere and he instantly wakes up like he hasn’t been asleep.” Knox turned the music up to prove his point. I look back and Kane did not even bat an eyelash. Crazy.
I know this is supposed to be a serious road trip and we’re supposed to get so much work done but I’m only 18 so I wanted to add some fun. Since only one of the twins was asleep I looked at over at the other one and he instantly paled. He knew something was going on but I was not going to tell him. I mind linked everybody in the other cars and told them to turn on their Bluetooth and connect to my music list on their phones. I told them which folder to go to and put it on the first song. I think they were all a little nervous about what I would put on because I’ve been known to rock out to some Marilyn Manson, dance to some Reba, and even cry my tears out to Michael Jackson. They were not ready for some Lil Wayne to drop and Knox was not ready for me to know all the words to the rap song. He’s trying his best to keep his eyes on the road but he keeps looking over at me laughing at this white girl rapping or in my case speaking very quickly because she does not look like she’s supposed to be a rapper. I turn around in my seat and start shaking my butt and he literally has to take the next exit and stop at the gas station.
“What are you doing Ryder? I cannot concentrate on the road with your butt in the air. You’re making my wolf go crazy and I can’t stop laughing so I can’t hear what he’s saying.” He wheezes out as he gets out of the car to clear his hand and get some space from my crazy a*s.
The other’s all get out and walk over to our SUV wondering what the heck is up. Knox looks at all of them and says, “Someone else better be riding with this crazy lady. She’s either rapping horribly to Lil Wayne songs, shaking her butt up in the air to the point where my wolf wants me to put her in her place by taking her, or she’s making dirty jokes. It is like I have went to a crazy planet in there.” He shook his head.
Melissa’s busting up laughing and everybody else just doesn’t know what’s going on. “You guys have literally never been in the car for more than 45 minutes with this girl have you? She has too much energy and too much fun on road trips. This is going to be the entire time so you might as well get used to it. Just wait until she turns on some Britney Spears and rolls down her window using a hairbrush as a microphone screaming the lyrics to all the cars around her.” I smile at her knowing she loves me and those were all good times.
Asher looks at me and crosses his arms. “That will not be happening when you ride with me.” I just smile and wink at him. He should know better than to tell me what to do.
“Okay potty break everybody else put gas in the vehicles and let’s get some snacks. How about some sugar? How about some caffeine? Energy drink?” My voice is getting louder and more high-pitched for every word I speak. They all yell no and make Melissa stick by my side so that I do not get an energy drink. Fun haters.
By the time we make it to the small town where we’re meeting the vampire Knox has had to tap out, Blake tapped out, and now I’m riding with Asher who keeps giving me this no nonsense look. He even gave me a lecture about how he’s older than me and more mature so I should be looking at him for my example. I just closed one eye and looked at him before telling him he had a tiny head. He had no reply and had to hold back a snort.
We pull into this small but super cute diner. It reminds me of a diner I have seen in old movies including the checkered floors and the pies sitting out in front. We end up having to take up a bench and two tables in the back. They let us put them together which will help when we are all trying to hear the vampire.
“What is this guys name? And how do we know he is a vampire?” Melissa asked as she looked over her menu.
“His name would be Charles. And I look like me.” I yelp at this reply before turning to see a man who is about six feet, on the slender side, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He doesn’t smell like other vampires but boy needs a tan.
My mates each stand up and their bodies are ready to attack. No one likes to be snuck up on especially if it is a vampire. I am personally laughing which makes me look crazy but damn he was silent as hell.
“Are you sure you aren’t part mouse? I didn’t hear anything. That was crazy.” I turned to fully look at him and smiled. “Guys sit down so we can order and have a conversation with the man.” They all look at me with shocked faces but I just shrug.
“Thank you. I am looking at the group who are with Jared’s sons correct?” He looks at all of us before replaceing the empty seat we left him at the end.
“Yup. Knox is over there and I am Kane.” Kane barely growls out but Charles must of understood it because he sat down and clasped his hands on the table.
“Goodie. We sound like we are all in a good mood. “ His sarcasm was right on point and I am loving it. My mates and Alistair not so much.
“Guys calm down. He is one vampire and I happen to replace his interesting so quit acting like a pack of feral dogs and get ready to order since our waitress is headed here. Also if you flirt back with her there will be no play time.” I hear a g***n from everyone at the table and I laugh.
“Well, thank you.” He nods in my direction and waits for us to all order.
The waitress seems to have a thing for the twins and I have to hold a growl in. I feel bad because they all have to share me but on the other hand she isn’t a fated mate so she can go to hell. When she grabs the menu’s from them she makes sure to touch their hands and go slower. I can tell the guys are a bit uncomfortable. Ok, time for me to end this.
“Hey Knox. Did you and your brother wash your hands after our fun in the back seat of the car?” They both turn their heads toward me so fast I thought they may swing off their necks. I am holding in a laugh and look at the waitress. “Might want to wipe those off just in case. It got very wet and dirty.” I wink at her before turning to Melissa to talk to her. I hear the bitching from the waitress as she stomps off and I am finally able to lose it. Melissa is dying with me.
“What the hell Ryder?” Knox asked. I can see Kane smiling so I know they aren’t really mad.
“Listen I was laying my claim. I could of just decided to pee on you but I figured this was less clean up.” Melissa snorts and we both giggle. I am pretty sure the guys are seeing a whole new side to us.
The guys just stare at me. I think I have left them speechless. I turn toward our guest and see he is having a bit of a laugh at the twins. I would of done it for any of my mates. Now if she pushes again I will have a little talk with her out back.
“So who are all of you with the twins?” Charles asked as he leaned forward in his chair.
Kane introduces everyone but doesn’t mention that I am their mate. I feel the sharp pain of rejection like he isn’t proud of me. Knox
doesn’t correct him so they must have planned this or at least discussed it. I just stare at the table and let everyone talk around me. Blue is pissed and wants to stake her claim regardless of what they are or aren’t saying. I just tell her to sit tight and we will get some us time to think on it all.
“So your dad mentioned you guys found your mate. Is it hard being away from her?” Charles asks and I can see the guys fidget in their seats. They better answer correctly.
“It’s only been half a day so its ok right now.” Knox answered without looking at me.
