Chapter 180 She Is Breaking Down
Chapter 180 She Is Breaking Down
Amanda took the tissue and wiped her tears. "Where should we go now to replace Aiden? I'm really worried about him..."
"You drive back home and wait for me there. I'll search. Grandpa can only hide him in a few places, and if you think about it, he's still in his hands. He's his great-grandson, and his love for him is no less than ours."
Understanding that Amanda was emotional, Elias decided to search for Aiden alone. Therefore, he believed it would be more appropriate for her to wait at home.
"No! I'm going with you!" She could not bear the thought of staying at home while her mind was consumed with worries about Aiden.
"Hey-" He wanted to respond but was interrupted by her.
"I understand what you're thinking, but I wanna go with you. I can't bear to stay at home. I'm too worried about Aiden."
"Alright. You drive, and I'll navigate." After all, he still had an injury on his foot, which made it inconvenient for him to drive.
Nodding, she composed herself and started the car, slowly driving away. "Where should we go now?"
He leaned back in the seat, pondering the properties registered under Howard's name. Where would he hide Aiden...
After a moment of contemplation, he spoke up, "Let's head to the hotel first."
Amanda was taken aback. "Would Grandpa hide Aiden in a hotel?" Why would he think that? Why would Grandpa hide Aiden in a hotel? It doesn't make sense.
Elias explained, "You can't guess or understand Grandpa's thinking. Sometimes the most dangerous place can also be the safest, and a hotel isn't a place where we can freely search."
She was rendered speechless. Is Grandpa's thinking really that intricate?
As Amanda pondered, she realized that someone capable of upholding the legacy of the Winters Family could not possibly be a mere ordinary old man.
Without uttering another word, she drove directly to the Chateau Hotel, one of the properties owned by Winters Enterprises.
Arriving at the hotel, she quietly trailed behind Elias. It was the Winters Family's territory, so she believed he was better equipped to handle the situation. They went straight to the manager's office.
When the hotel manager noticed Elias, he promptly rose from his seat and respectfully greeted, "Mr. Winters, what brings you here today? How may I assist you?"
Elias sat on the couch in the guest area. "Has my grandfather given you any instructions or requests lately?"
The manager appeared utterly confused, not understanding the situation. He glanced at Amanda standing nearby before looking at Elias. "No, I haven't received any calls from Old Mr. Winters in a long time. The last time I saw him was at the birthday banquet. May I ask what's going on?"
Elias coldly glanced at the manager. "Are you sure? If you dare to withhold any information from me and I discover it, you'll be dismissed from your position. You've got to know I hold the ultimate authority within Winters Enterprises now."
The manager swiftly comprehended the gravity of the situation. He understood that the Winters Family was now under Elias' authority as the future heir. Any offense toward him would undoubtedly result in severe consequences.
"Mr. Winters, how could I dare to do such a thing? I assure you; I haven't hidden anything from you. I haven't seen Old Mr. Winters or received any orders from him. If I have, I shall be struck by lightning." He was on the verge of swearing to God, his face displaying unwavering loyalty.
Elias stood up slowly. "If my grandfather contacts you, call me immediately."
"Yes, absolutely. If he contacts me, I'll report it to you."
Elias did not spare another glance at the manager and turned to leave. Amanda wanted to say something, but he had already left, so she hurriedly followed him. Watching their departing figures, the manager breathed a sigh of relief. He initially thought Elias had come specifically to cause him trouble and had been terrified.
Walking out of the hotel, Amanda stood alongside Elias and could not help but ask, "Are we just going to leave like this? Shouldn't we search inside the hotel? What if Aiden is hidden in one of the rooms?" He stopped in his tracks. "He's probably not here. It'd be pointless for that manager to deceive me. With hundreds of rooms in this hotel, it would take us an eternity to search each one." She remained silent, feeling unwilling to leave after coming all this way. "Where should we go next, then?"
Elias walked toward the car, deep in thought for a few seconds. "Let's head to the Chalster Villa District. It was the place Grandma loved to stay the most. Since her passing, Grandpa hasn't visited there again, probably to avoid stirring up memories."
"Then, let's not waste any time!" Amanda swiftly opened the car door and settled into the driver's seat, securing her seatbelt.
And so, the two arrived at the Chalster Villa District. As she exited the car, her gaze fell upon the villa standing before her. It appeared desolate and unoccupied for quite some time. Grandpa wouldn't be hiding Aiden in here, would he?
As soon as Elias stepped out of the car and caught sight of the villa's condition, he swiftly returned to the vehicle. "Get back in the car. There's no need to search. He's not here."
Without hesitation, she also entered the car. The villa appeared desolate and emanated an unsettling atmosphere.
"Where should we go next?" She started to grow impatient. At this rate, when will we ever replace Aiden?
He sensed her frustration and glanced at her profile. "Don't worry. We'll surely replace him tonight."
She was on the verge of breaking down and could not help but vent her frustrations. "I understand, but how long will it take to replace Aiden by searching like this? I want to see him right away!" After speaking, she realized her outburst and quickly regained her composure. "I'm sorry. I got a bit carried away. So, where should we go next?"
Elias leaned back in the car seat and replied slowly, "Let me think... You're right. We can't continue searching aimlessly like this."
Where would Grandpa hide Aiden? He closed his eyes and entered a contemplative state, trying to put himself in Grandpa's shoes. If I were Grandpa, where would I hide Aiden?
Amanda observed him lost in thought, reluctant to interrupt his train of thinking.
After a while, he suddenly opened his eyes. "I got it! To the estate!"
The estate? Would Grandpa have hidden Aiden there? But isn't that where Elias lives?
"Why do you think Aiden would be hidden there?" She could not help but ask.
Elias' handsome face grew serious as he explained, "Because that's the true home of the Winters Family. Grandpa believes that his son's spirit resides there, and if his grandson is there, his great-grandson should be there too. That place is the continuation of my family's bloodline."
Bloodline... Amanda suddenly found the idea plausible, considering how much importance Howard placed on bloodlines.
She started the car and steered it toward the Winters Estate, filled with eagerness to reunite with Aiden as soon as possible...
