Chapter 216 Listen to Me, I'm Engaged to Stephanie

"Amanda! Listen to me!" Elias shouted angrily.

However, Amanda was in no mood to entertain a single word from him. "What else do you want to say? I've no interest in listening! Save your sweet words for your soon-to-be-engaged fiancée and future father-in-law!"

Although pleased to see her angry, Elias felt a twinge of heartache. He gently held her cheeks, causing her to become still. "Please, calm down. Things aren't as they seem! Can you let me explain?" She was stunned, and her gaze fixed blankly on the man.

"Listen to me, alright? I'm engaged to Stephanie, but it's not what you think! I-" He was about to explain his plan to her when the sound of the elevator doors opening in the underground parking garage interrupted them. Looking up, he saw Jack walking out, and he decided to stay silent.

"You want to say something? Then, say it! What exactly is going on? Say it! Don't say I didn't give you a chance!" Amanda's anger grew as she noticed Elias abruptly falling silent.

Meanwhile, Jack was here to witness how Elias would handle the situation. Aware of his cunning intentions, Elias released his grip on her hand.

Losing her balance, she took two steps back before looking at the man standing before her in bewilderment.

"I'll be engaged next month, so stop bothering me. I'll provide child support, and there'll be no relationship between us apart from our child. It would be preferable if you're willing to entrust Aiden to me, but if not, I won't insist. The decision is yours to make." As Elias spoke, he felt a suffocating sensation in his chest, as if a heavy stone were crushing him. However, he knew he had to say that to gain Jack's trust.

Amanda widened her eyes, replaceing it hard to believe what she had heard. Did he come all the way to the underground parking garage just to tell me this?

She was utterly furious. "Elias! You are pushing the limits! Did you chase me all the way here just to tell me this? When did I ever bother you? Did I prevent you from remarrying? Is it necessary to humiliate me like this? No wonder you've been trying to get me and Aiden out of the country these past few days. So, it seems the one who came to see you is Stephanie, your fiancée, huh? Ha... I'm such a fool! I even called you for help. How could I be so stupid..."

Recalling her actions from yesterday, Amanda found it incredibly ridiculous.

Jack stood on the side, thoroughly amused as he watched the heated argument unfold, and keenly observed every expression on Elias' face.

Amanda's pitiful voice echoed through the empty parking garage. She sounded as if she had been abandoned by the entire world.

Witnessing her tearful state, Elias, too, felt a pang of anguish, and his fists involuntarily clenched tightly at his sides. However, to reclaim Howard's shares, he knew that he had to make a sacrifice. Suppressing his inner conflict, Elias put on a facade of ruthlessness and stated coldly, "Yes, Stephanie is my fiancée. It's best if you don't provoke her. Avoid her, if possible. She seems to be bothered by my past marriage, so I expect you to be sensible and not cause any trouble for me." With that, he turned and left.

Meanwhile, Amanda's face was streaked with tears, each drop shattering as it hit the ground.

With despair, she shut her eyes tightly and yelled at the man's retreating figure, "Leave! I never want to see you again! I won't give you Aiden! I won't let you replace a stepmother for him, and I won't leave this place! Why should everything be your decision? I want to take control of my own life!"

Elias knew he had to leave quickly. Otherwise, he would not be able to resist the urge to rush over and embrace her, as well as reveal the truth.

At that moment, a layer of tears shimmered in his dark eyes. His heart was also aching, but it was not the right moment to reveal the truth to her. He had to earn Jack's complete trust to reclaim the shares from Anna. Therefore, he suppressed his urge to turn back and hastened his steps, leaving the garage.

On the side, Jack smiled with satisfaction. It seems this kid has completely given up on his ex-wife. It should be safe to entrust my precious daughter to him, then.

He glanced at Amanda several times, casting sympathetic glances. Shaking his head with a smile, he turned to leave the underground garage.

Left alone in the expansive garage, Amanda stood there in solitude, tears cascading down her face like raindrops. As she tried to head back to her car, she unintentionally stepped on something sharp. The anguish overwhelmed her, and she broke down, collapsing in tears and despair.

She could not hold back her tears and let out a sob. However, she did not want anyone to witness her pitiful state and silently stifled her sobs by pressing her hand against her mouth. Why does it have to be like this? Was Elias always like this? I knew it all along, so why did I have hope for this sc*mbag? I'm such a fool!

"Stupid! Such a fool! You've brought this upon yourself, Amanda Bailey!" She cried out in pain as she scolded herself in the garage.

Amanda realized she had never truly learned her lesson and questioned why she had allowed herself to believe Elias' words once again, despite the immense pain she had endured from that man four years ago.

Late at night, Amanda found herself alone in a bar. She sat at the counter, continuously asking for drinks from the bartender. Dressed in an alluring outfit for the party and with her back provocatively exposed, she captured the attention of numerous men at the bar.

Men approached her one after another, attempting to strike up a conversation, but she impatiently shooed them away.

"Another one, please." She handed the empty glass to the bartender. Her eyes were already hazy and showed signs of intoxication, yet she still craved the burn of alcohol.

The bartender poured her another drink and could not help but comment, "Miss, you're already drunk. Why don't you have someone come and pick you up? It might become troublesome if you get too drunk later on."

Being a man himself, the bartender understood all too well the intentions of the men eagerly waiting for Amanda to get intoxicated so they could take advantage of her.

She slurred her words, her speech becoming incoherent as she mumbled, "Who are you? Why do you care? Just give me the drink when I ask. Quit the nonsense and hurry up. Men... always talk too much!" The bartender shook his head helplessly at her state and resumed attending to his duties.

"I'm telling you, there isn't a single good man in this world. They're all full of empty words and deceit. Why don't you become an actor? The entertainment industry is truly missing out without you... Ha..." Amanda vented her frustrations toward the bartender, her words fueled by intoxication.
