Chapter 337 Quick-Witted Amanda

Amanda's mind was in disarray as she slowly began to recall the events before she fell unconscious.

She remembered that Crispin had told her to take the elevator on the left, and he had then returned to retrieve something.

She ended up not replaceing her way to the banquet hall before everything suddenly turned pitch black. When she woke up, she overheard a sleazy conversation between two men, and now she found herself lying on a bed.

Amanda sorted out her thoughts and concluded that this was Crispin's doing.

Does Crispin have the audacity to do this? Perhaps it is at Stephanie's behest? After all, he claims to be deeply in love with Stephanie and willing to do anything for her.

She didn't know how much time had passed when the duct tape was suddenly ripped off her mouth, and one of the men fed her some food.

She whipped her head the other way and hissed, "I'll pay you double the fees. Tell me, who ordered this? Was it Stephanie?"

The man took back the food he had brought to her lips. "Sorry, but we have our rules in this line of work. We can't betray them, or else no one would dare to hire us again. Just stay here quietly for one night. You'll be able to go back tomorrow."

"Hunter, let me feed her. It'll be a

aste to let such a beautiful woman starve."

"Enough. She's not going to be interested in you. Don't waste your effort." Hunter scoffed and sat aside to eat his own boxed meal.

Even through the darkness, Amanda could feel the repulsiveness of the man leaning in. She roared, "Get away from me! I'm warning you, if you dare touch me, just wait and see how I deal with you tomorrow. Stephanie won't be able to protect you then!"

"What a foul temper for such a pretty face. No wonder you've gotten yourself into trouble. Whatever! It's your choice whether to eat or not. I don't care anymore."

The other man watched Amanda struggling on the bed and muttered, "Don't bother. Even if you manage to escape, the two of us can still overpower you. Besides, we don't know this Stephanie you're talking about. She's not the one who hired us. We're just working for a middleman."

Amanda let out a cold snort. "Ha! There's even a middleman involved? How professional. I'll pay you ten times the price. Give me the middleman's contact information."

"Ten times!" The man's accomplice was tempted. After all, who wouldn't be enticed by an offer that was ten times the original?

The man exchanged a glance with his partner before turning to Amanda. "We'll let you go once everything is settled after tomorrow. If you're interested in working with us, we can discuss it then." "Okay." Amanda accepted the offer without hesitation.

She was curious to know who was the one who hired these people. Still, deep down, she felt more inclined toward Stephanie.

Amanda's disappearance tonight would only benefit Stephanie, as the latter had never wanted Amanda to reunite with the Allegras in the first place.

However, this night was unbearable for Amanda.

Being in the same room with these two men was as uncomfortable as it could get. She dared not sleep for a second, fearing they might do something to her if she drifted off.

eyes

She kept her wide open in the middle of the night, staying alert even though a black cloth covered her eyes.

She heard one man probably sleeping on the couch snoring, but she couldn't hear the other

man.

Suddenly, a hand that belonged to the other man rested on her shoulder.

"Take your filthy hands off me!" Amanda snapped.

The man instinctively withdrew his hand in shock. He hadn't expected Amanda to be awake and constantly on high alert..

"You're still awake. I thought you might feel lonely, so I came to keep you company."

His repulsive words made Amanda physically uncomfortable to the point of nausea.

But she held back and asked, “You want to keep me company? How do you plan on doing that? Do you like me?"

"Mhm." The man shyly nodded. "You're beautiful. You're just my type. You also look like the lead actress from this drama I've been watching lately. Anyway, you're really pretty." This silly-looking man's actually interested in women! Should I take advantage of his interest to get away?

Amanda's eyes darted around, and she lowered her voice. "Then, could you help me untie

the ropes? I feel suffocated and it's really uncomfortable. Let me relax a bit, okay?"

"I can't do that! Hunter will scold me. He doesn't want me to touch you or get close to you. He even said you don't like me."

Good for Hunter for being self-aware, Amanda thought. How did this silly man even get into this line of work in the first place?

Instead of saying those words out loud, she put on a wide smile and teased, "He's not me, so how would he know if I don't like you? He's too presumptuous. I think our personalities. match well. Can I see what you look like?"

"I'd rather not. I don't look as good as you." The man seemed somewhat insecure.

This fool's not as gullible as I thought. He still hasn't taken the bait.

Amanda patiently persuaded him, "It's okay. I don't care about appearances. I believe the most important qualities a man should have are responsibility and commitment. Looks don't

matter."

"Really? I think the same way, but it's rare to replace a woman who thinks like that nowadays. You're a special lady." The man gripped Amanda's hand in excitement as though he had finally met someone who appreciated him.

Amanda instinctively wanted to retract her hand, but she fought against it for the sake of her escape plan.

Suppressing the feeling of disgust, she forced a smile. "Of course. It proves that we're fated to meet. I have a special feeling about you even though I haven't seen what you look like

yet."

"Really? Do you have feelings for me too?" The man grew even more excited, his voice trembling. It was the first time in his life that he had been praised by a beautiful woman. Amanda nodded. "Can I see you? I really want to see your face."

The man hesitated for a moment, but he couldn't bear to disappoint Amanda. And so, he finally stated, "Alright, let me remove the blindfold for you."

"Aw! Don't do that. Help me untie the rope, and I'll remove the blindfold myself. I want to unveil this mysterious mask myself."

Amanda's tone even carried a hint of coquettishness that melted the man's heart. After all, no one could resist it when a beautiful woman flirted.

The man had long been completely smitten. He eagerly agreed again and again. "Okay. Sure thing! I'll help you untie it."

Thus, Amanda turned around, and the man quietly undid the ropes on her.

Ha...

It seemed that not only women but even men liked honeyed words. The man was so delighted he had lost his reasoning with just a few words of flattery.

Amanda breathed a sigh of relief when the man finally took off the rope. She quickly tore off the black cloth covering her eyes, only to be greeted by a big and chubby face. She threw a punch, exclaiming, "F*ck! You pig!"

What grand dreams for a pig head!

The man let out a miserable shriek as he fell to the ground. By now, Amanda had gotten up and rushed to the door, accidentally waking up Hunter who was still sleeping. He was greeted by the sight of Amanda fleeing outside the room the moment he opened his eyes.

"Get back here!" Hunter got up and started to chase after her.

Meanwhile, the man who looked like a pig remained on the ground as he covered his bleeding nose and wailed in pain.
