Chapter 39 Elias' Misunderstanding of Her

"Ah!"

With her hands bound and a blindfold on her eyes, Amanda was shoved into a room before the door behind her slammed shut.

After she fell on the carpet, she slowly moved her body until she touched what felt like a bed.

She only saw the room she was in when she managed to shake the blindfold off of her. It looked like the pleasure room of a nightclub.

Is this the kidnappers' territory!

She could do nothing but wait there.

When she suddenly noticed a window in the room, she stumbled onto her feet and hopped over to look out the window. However, she was sure she would either end up handicapped or dead if she jumped out from this height.

She wondered if Elias would pay the ransom to save her.

Truth was, she felt a little conflicted. As much as she didn't want Elias to waste the money, she also had hopes that someone would rescue her.

Suddenly, the room door was kicked open.

Amanda instinctively moved backward as the kidnapper walked over with her phone. "Say something to your husband," the kidnapper instructed. "He is worried about you and wants to hear your voice." The man forcefully dragged her over and pressed the phone to her car.

However, Amanda only stared at the man in front of her without saying a word.

"Speak up! Do you want me to beat you up?!" the man threatened aggressively.

"Say something. Amanda!" Elias' voice came from the phone. "Let me hear your voice!"

Tm..." She didn't know what to say.

She actually wanted to tell Elias not to spend more money. These people's greed knew no end. They would surely want more money after getting their 15 million.

After hearing her voice, the man on the phone sounded calmer. "Wait for me. I will come to save you. Just hold on for a few more minutes."

A few minutes? she thought.

Chapter 39 Elias'...

Is he joking? Or is he trying to comfort me so that I don't feel scared?

The kidnapper took the phone away. "Alright, you can rest assured now that you've heard your wife's voice. Mr. Winters, you should hurry home and prepare the money, or your wife might really have to suffer." Meanwhile, Elias was outside searching room by room with a group of bodyguards.

Although they had located Amanda's phone, they could not pinpoint which room she was in.

"Mr. Winters, we're getting closer. She seems to be in one of these few rooms!" A bodyguard suddenly came over with a tablet, showing that they were getting closer to Amanda. In fact, they were only a dozen meters away.

Amanda should be in one of these two rooms in front of him now.

Elias hesitated for a moment as he looked at the two doors, and he eventually kicked the door on the left open.

The next second, he saw Amanda with her hands and feet bound. She also had a red palm print on her cheek. The kidnapper was standing next to her, looking stunned. He couldn't react to the situation for a while.

Even Amanda was frozen in place as she thought that she was hallucinating.

Did he really come and rescue me in a matter of seconds? I'm not dreaming, am I?

"Elias..." She couldn't help but say his name.

Elias was so angry when he saw Amanda's appearance that he went over to kick the kidnapper to the floor without missing a beat. His bodyguards then quickly came in and stepped on the kidnapper, prompting the kidnapper to let out a blood-curdling scream.

"Gah! Are you Winters?!" The kidnapper hadn't even figured out who this man was when he was pinned to the carpet.

Elias couldn't be bothered with answering the kidnapper. Instead, he walked straight toward Amanda and untied the rope on her as he soothed her in a low voice. "It's okay. It's all over now, I'll take you out of here."

The woman only looked back at him in a daze while letting him help her untie the ropes..

When Elias finally saw the palm print on her cheek, his expression turned into one of extreme displeasure..

He turned around and stalked toward the kidnapper on the floor, stomping on his arm. He then roared. "I told you not to touch her!"

The kidnapper screeched again when there was a crisp sound of his bones shattering.

Even Amanda was startled by what was happening.

She had always known that Elias had a bad temper, but she had never seen him physically attack someone, let alone do something this brutal.

After Elias was done, he grabbed Amanda's hand and looked at the bodyguards. "I'll leave this to you. Remember, the money is yours if you can get it back."

He wasn't going to give those se*mbags his money for nothing.

"Don't worry, Mr. Winters. We've got this covered."

Elias then took off his coat and draped it over Amanda before guiding her out of the room.

As expected, this was a nightclub. The noise was so loud that it hurt her ears.

The man held her hand as they went out. He kept escorting her until she was sitting in the passenger seat of his car.

However, he was about to drive away when Amanda suddenly remembered something and shouted, "Wait! I need to go back and get my phone!"

As she opened the door, the man grabbed her wrist to stop her. "Are you crazy?" he yelled. "Why would you go back? It is just a phone. Is it that important?"

He couldn't understand this woman. Any normal woman would be sobbing uncontrollably after being kidnapped and yet, Amanda wants to go back for a damn phone! Is she craving to suffer more? She struggled against his hold. "No, there is something urgent I need to do. I need to call my baby to let him know that I'm safe. He must be very worried about me..."

The moment she realized that she had had a slip of the tongue, she quickly covered her mouth. Her panic was written all over her face.

This put a frown on the man's face. "Baby? What baby?"

Amanda wanted to slap herself in the face. How could she forget that the man in front of her was Elias, the biological father of her child?

"L.."

"Say it! What baby? Whose baby are you talking about?!" he kept asking as he stared into her eyes.

Amanda thought her heart was going to jump out of her chest at this point. Her palms, too, were wet with sweat from her nerves.

I-I mean... Simon's baby..."

A lightbulb went off in her head when she suddenly remembered Simon hugging Aiden at the

restaurant.

When Elias heard that, he grumbled to himself, Simon Nicholson? It's always about that man! The first thing she does after a kidnapping is to call and let Simon's son know that she is safe, huh? What a dedicated stepmother! She sure is determined to marry Simon, isn't she?

Elias was suddenly hit by disappointment, and he let go of her hand while he mockingly laughed at himself. "You're ruthless, Amanda. I did so much to save you, and now all you can think about is letting Simon's son know that you're safe! Do you already consider yourself his wife? You aborted your own pregnancy, but you want to be some other child's stepmother, eh? Unbelievable! Get out! Get out of my sight!"

This was the first time in his life Elias had ever felt heartbroken. Suffocation, anger, and heartache were just some of the emotions swirling around in his heart. He couldn't even begin to describe what he was feeling.

"Elias, I... Amanda wanted to explain herself, but she didn't know what to tell him.

"Get out, I said! I don't want to see you ever again!" Elias stared ahead while he bellowed.

She felt her heart skip a beat. It still shocked her to hear him say things like this. It was even disheartening,

She kept mum for a few seconds before opening the car door and getting out. As soon as she did that, the man unhesitatingly stepped on the gas and sped away.

This may be for the best, she thought to herself. We will be out of each other's lives. I don't have to worry about him replaceing out about our child.
