Chapter 513 Ignoring His Call

Amanda entered the villa and spotted Symeon waiting inside, looking somewhat disheveled. She immediately noticed how the typically well-groomed man appeared exhausted from tending to a sick child.

"Thank you," he uttered, conveying his appreciation in just two words. He felt grateful that Amanda had come, considering Dulcie wasn't her child and had no connection to her.

"I didn't come to help you. I came for the child's sake," she clarified her intentions. She had. arrived to spite Elias, who had infuriated her by being with Rosie at the office. However, she didn't want to dwell on it At this moment, her top priority was to ensure Dulcie's well-being.

"Well, thank you anyway."

"No problem. Where's the child? I'll go take a look."

"She's upstairs. She's had some fever-reducing medicine, but she's been semi-conscious, occasionally calling for her mother," Symeon explained as he led Amanda upstairs.

"Children tend to miss their moms, especially when they feel unwell. And with your serious expression, it's no surprise she's scared of you," she muttered as she followed him, but he silently listened without retorting.

After entering the room, Amanda saw Dulcie curled up on the bed, repeatedly calling for her mother. It was a heart-wrenching scene. She sat on the bed and gently placed her hand on Dulcie's forehead, which still felt hot with fever. "Her temperature hasn't gone down. Has she been taking the medicine on time? She's still shivering." Following this, she wrapped the child in a blanket and fetched another from the end of the bed to ensure she was snugly covered.

"Mommy... Mommy..." Dulcie kept calling for her mother.

As a mother herself, Amanda was heartbroken. She gently lifted Dulcie from the bed and held her close in her arms, using her body heat to provide comfort and warmth.

"Do you want me to call a doctor?" Symeon furrowed his brows.

"No, it's okay. Dulcie's already starting to sweat. Her fever should go down as she sweats it out, and she'll start feeling better. Please, go get a glass of water for her. Keeping her well- hydrated when she has a fever is essential since she loses fluids quickly."

After hearing this, he went to get a glass of warm water.

She carefully gave Dulcie half a glass of water and reassured her, "Sweetie, go to sleep. Mommy's right here with you.

Dulcie nestled in her arms, her little hands clutching onto Amanda's clothing as if she had found the comforting embrace of a mother.

Symeon stayed with them, having postponed his meeting to look after Dulcie.

Two hours later, the child's fever had finally subsided, and her complexion had improved.

Amanda had been holding Dulcie in her arms the entire time, and her back was beginning to ache. She intended to lay Dulcie on the bed and take a short break. However, as soon as she did, the little hands gripped her clothes tightly, and Dulcie murmured, "Mommy, please

don't leave. I'm scared..."

Amanda looked up and exchanged a glance with Symeon. Feeling helpless, she lay on the bed to comfort the child, saying, "I'm right here. Don't be afraid."

After soothing Dulcie and ensuring she had fallen asleep, Amanda gently released the child's hold on her clothes and motioned for Symeon to step outside.

The two of them exited the room and closed the door quietly.

Amanda finally sighed in relief and decided to broach the topic. "Her fever has subsided now. When she wakes up, offer her something light to eat. She may not have much appetite, so prepare some porridge and vegetables."

"Noted."

"So, are you not going to let Dulcie contact Melissa again? After all, she has raised Dulcie.

since she was a child."

When Melissa's name was mentioned, the man's face darkened slightly. "That woman doesn't deserve to be my child's mother. Besides, she is not Dulcie's biological mother."

Amanda recalled the name she had heard earlier that day. Casey Carter. She knew that Casey was the daughter of the Carter Family, and she was Dulcie's biological mother. "When are you planning to introduce Dulcie to her biological mother? By the way, does the Carter Family have a daughter named Casey? I've never come across that name."

"I'm still investigating this. We'll know for sure once the DNA test results come out."

"Oh..." She didn't need to worry too much since Symeon had a vast network of contacts in the

country.

At this moment, Amanda's phone rang. She glanced at it and noticed it was a call from Elias, but she chose to end it.

Symeon, who had witnessed this, inquired, "Why aren't you answering his calls? Are you two fighting?"

"No, I just don't want to talk to him now. Well, if there's nothing else, I'll head out. Aiden should be done with kindergarten, and I promised to pick him up." Symeon had no reason to keep her any longer and nodded. "I'll have the driver take you."

"No, thanks. I drove here. You should return and accompany Dulcie. When she wakes later, make sure she stays hydrated and drinks some water."

"Okay."

As Amanda left, Symeon turned back toward the door, his hand gripping the handle as he prepared to return to Dulcie's room. Suddenly, his phone vibrated, and he answered the call, asking. "What is it?" "Sir, the DNA test results are in, and I'm on my way back."

"Just give me the results," Symeon requested eagerly. He couldn't wait to know if Casey was Dulcie's biological mother.

"Yes. Miss Casey is indeed Dulcie's biological mother."

After hearing this, Symeon's tense expression gradually eased. He felt a mix of relief and surprise. It suddenly dawned on him that the woman named Casey was the same person. from four years ago. However, he was now in a dilemma about how he should arrange for Dulcie to meet her biological mother, Casey.

As Amanda was driving, her phone buzzed incessantly with calls from Elias, but she chose to ignore them. When she reached the kindergarten, only ten minutes were left until the school day ended. So, she waited for Aiden inside the building.

Her son's face lit up with joy as he rushed into her arms upon seeing her. "Mommy, you're the first one to pick me up today. You're awesome!"

"Of course, I promised you, didn't I?"

"Mommy, let's go replace Daddy. He said he'll take us out for a big meal tonight."

"Really? How about we go home and change first?"

"Yay!"

She eagerly held her son's hand and assisted him into the car. Right now, seeing Elias was the last thing on her mind because she knew it would likely result in an argument. Meanwhile, after wrapping up his tasks at Winters Enterprise, Elias contemplated calling
