But there were some occasions when I had to wake them both up last week to replace Elspeth had crept into Rex’s room in the middle of the night. She still sought him out in her sleep. Wanting to be near her twin brother.

“Daddy?” Elspeth shouts out to Reuben, her bottom lip poking out as he doesn’t respond.

“I’m sure he’ll be back soon enough.” I respond to her, ushering her upstairs to put her bits in her bedroom. I’m not sure where he has gone, his car is parked out at the front of the house.

I walk into the kitchen, which was open planned with a large dining table and an inglenook. Solid oak wooden beams vertically filled the dining area, adding a sense of strength to the open room.

When we designed the house, we kept in mind that when people visited they would be staying for at least a night and therefore we needed to have the room to entertain. And enough bedrooms to house guests.

Our new house had eight bedrooms with an out building that had an extra four bedrooms. It was a big house, but Reuben seemed keen to fill it with children. I’m not so sure on that, I keep telling him to wait on how this birth goes before we start talking about the next one.

Picking up the kettle, I walk with it over to the sink and fill it up with water. As I do so, I look out into the back garden and on to our back lands where a large marquee has been erected. What on earth?

“Rex…Elspeth…I’m just going into the garden.” I call up to them, but they both run down stairs instantly. The garden was their favourite place to be. We had installed a large wooden play equipment which had a tree house for Rex and a playhouse for Elspeth. Ropes, ladders, swings…Reuben really went to town on the thing.

They open the back door, heading out before me. Already bouncing on the ground built-in trampoline by the time I reach the back gate. I head on to the marquee to replace cars littering the back field and music playing from the large white tent.

As I approach I can hear hushes…really? They think they can jump out on an alpha? A pregnant Alpha?

“You best act surprised Mummy…” Elspeth whispers now by my side.

“Yes, Dad has been planning this for the last month.” Rex also joins in on the whispering.

Entering the marquee…everyone shouts out surprise. I try to look shocked but I was too long in the pregnancy to care anymore about how my reactions were perceived. This baby needed to come out. I was struggling with my walking, as well as my sleeping at night.

“You could have tried harder to looked surprised…” Reuben smirks as he wraps his arms from behind around my rather large belly, planting a kiss on my mate mark. Tingles forcing me to sigh with adoration.

“This is a surprise…thank you.”

“Hmm..” He keeps his arms wrapped around me, breathing in my scent. That was one thing I missed with the twins, Reuben’s constant reassuring presence this late on in pregnancy. Even just his scent calmed me and my wolf down.

“Everyone is here…” He moans through the mind-link.

“Everyone?” I chuckle back, too bad. He shouldn’t have invited everyone.

“Yes, everyone.” His eyes give me a knowing look as I feel annoyance flitter through the mate bond from him.

I understand what he means. Candice, bless her, runs right up to me and pulls me into her arms. I

t doesn’t take her long before she pulls me away from my mate and starts updating me with her own baby that was sleeping in her arms and Blue Moon pack udpates.
