Evelyn POV

We could be alone in this party room for all I knew. The tingles were stronger than before and I finally understood what he meant. What he was trying to tell me. Were we fated mates?

That would explain a few things, the intensity between us every time I was alone with him, when I couldn’t distract myself with pack business or the security threat of his ex.

Why hadn’t I been more aware of this before? He knew didn’t he? I could tell by the cocky smirk now on his face as he read my reaction to the tingles, that he had known for some time. I look down at my hand wrapped in his, his thumb now stroking the back of my hand.

“Well now seems like a good opportunity to announce the reason for tonight’s celebrations!” Alpha Ivo regains everyone’s concentration as he prepares to make an announcement.

I release my hold of Reuben’s hand as both Rex and Elspeth come running over to us, followed by Noah who had my drink in his hand.

“Everything okay?” He looks between Reuben and me, as I just stop Elspeth from placing her chocolatey fingers on my dress.

They had clearly found the dessert table then? Both were unable to hide the evidence as Elspeth had chocolate on her hands and Rex had remains of cake crumbs around his mouth.

“Fine!” I respond, grabbing a napkin from the nearby table and wiping Rex’s face and Elspeth’s sticky fingers. I am greeted with a questionable look from Noah and I respond with one of our knowing looks to say just leave it.

“As you all know my Luna and I weren’t gifted with our own children, but we have been blessed in so many other ways. Beta Milo has always been like a son to us and having found his mate Candice two years ago, we were blessed with a daughter. Therefore I am delighted to announce that I have made Milo my Alpha heir and Candice, as his mate will be the Blue Moon Luna.”

Silence fills the room, this was unexpected, very unusual for an alpha to not have an heir but to then give the pack to a beta. Judging by the looks amongst the other guests, they were surmising the same thing.

“Milo will attend alpha training immediately and I hope we can rely upon our fellow alphas and friends for your support and in welcoming Milo into the position of Alpha.”

I feel Reuben tense next to me, as if he knew what was coming next. I hear a female and older male snigger behind me. I turn to replace the pair suppressing their laughs as the female gives me a scornful look before checking out Reuben’s figure from behind.

Ah she must be one of his many admirers. To the outside world, Reuben was a widower that still hadn’t chosen a Luna. He was still very much up for grabs.

“I also call upon my Alpha to support my decision….” Alpha Ivo continues to address the room but my ears pick up on the whisper that leaves Reuben’s lips.

“Get ready, he is about to out you.”

“As many of you know, we have recently joined the Silver Moon pack but still remain in good relations with the Red Stone pack. With the Alpha King attending tonight himself.” Alpha Ivo raises a glass to Reuben as all eyes turn to him, the Alpha King, the most important male in this room.

“Who is she?” I hear the same couple whisper from behind. “I don’t know, where is Vicky?” The female’s whiny voice responds with a tone of disappointment. Was she a friend of Vicky’s.

“Does the Alpha King not object to the Blue Moon pack joining the Silver Moon pack? The hidden Alpha couldn’t even show his face tonight.” A male shouts out from near the bar area.

“Have you not heard, he has boils all over his face. That’s why he doesn’t show himself, doesn’t want to be seen in public.” The female shouts out from behind, enjoying the negative perception of myself. I turn to Reuben with a smug smirk, was he responsible for this propaganda against me? Not now obviously, but before when he didn’t know who the Silver Moon Alpha really was.

“Yeah, I heard his luna cut off his penis so she didn’t have to screw him…” The man by the bar doesn’t seem to know when to stop. The room erupts with laughter, but not Ivo, Milo or Candice. They are looking at me apologetically.

“Mum, why are they talking about you in such a nasty why?” Rex pulls me down to whisper into my ear.

“Because they don’t know who I am. Would you like me to inform them of my identity? Shall I make them wet their pants?” I giggle at him, greeted by an encouraging nod as he holds my hand. My own little heir already ready to defend me.

“I think…” Alpha Ivo starts but I cut him off from addressing the room. I was going to enjoy this. Especially as so many of them were members of my alliance.

All eyes turn on me as I place my hand up, cutting Alpha Ivo off. I very slowly place my hands to my face and start to pat it.

“Nope, no boils.” I then move my hands down, my hands tracing along my breasts, down to my hips and on to my lower region.

I take my time emphasizing my womanly figure, albeit slightly too slim and small perky breasts, letting their eyes drink me all up. Their eyes that were gazing at me earlier without permission, now I encouraged it.

“Evelyn!” A low growl emits from Reuben, jealously at its finest as all eyes are on his mate. A new power of confidence erupts within me.

“A penis? Nope.” I mock before grinning to the entire room.

“I am Evelyn Bright, Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. I am happy to finally meet you all, especially as so many of you I’ve only had the pleasure to liaise with on email.”

Complete silence. The silence is broken when Candice walks over to Rex and Elspeth offering to occupy them for a moment.

“Did you kids want to see our play room at the pack house?” She whispers at them both before taking their hands and leading them away.

“Take your time Alpha, I can look after them.”

“Thank you Luna.” I wink at her, my appreciation of her and support of her new title said for all to hear.

“You’re the Alpha of the Silver Moon pack….a woman?” The scornful female can’t help herself. “Is that so hard to believe?” I turn to face her. She takes a moment to sneer at me, taking in my presence not seemingly impressed.

Until I release my alpha aura into the room, letting it swirl around every person here. Especially concentrating on her.

“Two surprises in one night Alpha Ivo, you do spoil us.” The older male standing next to the female, tries to make light of the oppressive atmosphere in the room. The atmosphere my aura was creating and I had no plan to rein it in at any time.

Until Reuben places his arm around my shoulder, which seems to do the job for me.

“Alpha Reuben, where is Vicky?” The female ogles at Reuben’s arm around my shoulder as he pulls me in to him. Was he shielding me from all the glares? Trying to protect me, but I didn’t need protecting.

The mention of Vicky’s name results in a beastly roar escaping Reuben as he turns and rounds on the female.

“Vicky is in exile. If any one knows of her whereabouts or replaces unusual activity near their borders they are to report it to myself or to Alpha Evelyn Bright immediately.” His aura is now swirling around the room as the music continues to play in the background.

“Alpha Reuben is right and we expect full compliance!” Pierce boldly adds addressing the room, taking the heat off me and Reuben.

“Now is this a party or what?” Pierce smoothly adds, placing his hand out for me to take. After a moment of hesitation, I place my hand in his and he spins me before pulling me on to the dancefloor just as a slow song starts to play.

“That was very bold Evelyn, the way you held each and every male’s eye in the room…I think you aged a few.” He chuckles at my tactics in admitting my own identity.

“Perhaps that was a bit too confident.” I shake my head at what I had just done. “In a room of alpha males? You can never be too confident. Besides I think you have a few new admirers.” He flicks his head to his side to show a group of males watching us dance.

“I’m afraid once the song finishes, they’ll be asking to replace me.” His warns in his usual jovial way.

Sure enough as soon as the slow romantic song finishes, which had Pierce’s arm snaked around my back, a group of alphas and betas started to descend upon us.

“Nope, not a chance!” Reuben speedily grabs my arm and starts to pull me off the dance floor.

He doesn’t stop until we are outside of the party room, which seems to be some kind of conference hall. He keeps a firm grip on my arm, pulling me into the pretty fairy lit garden, replaceing privacy by a pergola that is covered in beautiful red roses and adorned by lit lanterns.

“To have Pierce dance with you is one thing, but not those other fuckers!” He growls.
