Chapter 28

“Whoa! I didn’t expect Rebecca to be so wicked!” Quince exclaimed, “You’re lucky you didn’t date her back then. Forget it. Maybe this new woman isn’t any good either.”

“I think she’s a lovely woman with a kind heart,” Benedict said sadly, “Do you know why I fell in love with her? I often see her feeding the stray cats at the intersection.”

“You’re just unlucky with timing.” Lucas patted him on the shoulder. “Come on, let’s go for a drink and drown our troubles!”

They arrived at the bar, and Benedict started drinking straight from the bottle. Leonard was also in a foul mood, so he joined him in drinking.

Quince wondered aloud, “Leonard, Ben just suffered a heartbreak. Why are you in a bad mood when you just got married? Do you not like your wife because she’s not beautiful, or are you still hung up on Stephanie?”

“She’s pretty but too arrogant,” Leonard said coldly, continuing to drink with his gaze lowered.

Quince became intrigued. “No way! Does someone finally dare to be arrogant in front of you, Leonard? How arrogant is she?”

‘How arrogant?’

Leonard remembered how she shamelessly ate pineapple pizza, his most despised food, right before him. Then she even poured water on him earlier that night.

Feeling dejected, he drank his beer and replied, “She doesn’t dare to be arrogant in front of me. The main issue was that she quarreled with my sister-in-law and caused trouble in my family.”

Quince commented, “Well, she does seem quite bold. Leonard, can you handle her?”

“Why wouldn’t I be able to? Who would dare to act presumptuous toward me?” Leonard drank his beer irritably, one glass after another. Ultimately, both Leonard and Benedict got drunk.

Lucas glanced at them and was about to say something, but Quince spoke up first. “I’ll take Leonard home, and you can take

Benedict.”

“Curious about his new wife?” Lucas guessed.

“Lucas, aren’t you curious too?” Quince chuckled.

Lucas was so intrigued that he went to Leonard’s house the day before. Unfortunately, he did not even see his friend’s new

wife.

“Don’t worry, Lucas. If I see her, I’ll take a photo discreetly.” Quince begged for a long time before Lucas let him go.

It was 10 p.m. at the Parker family’s house. Lisa glanced at the clock. It was already late, and since Leonard had not returned, she assumed he was spending the night elsewhere. After all, wealthy people like him would have a second home.

She set her book aside, went downstairs to pour some water, and prepared to head upstairs to sleep. Suddenly, the sound of a car came from the driveway.

It could be Leonard returning, or it could be Jeffrey or Michelle. Either way, Lisa did not want to bother with it. As she was about to make her way upstairs quickly, she heard a man’s voice from outside.

“Mr. David, Leonard’s drunk, so I brought him back.”

The door swung open the next moment, and a tall young man in a dark green velvet shirt walked in, supporting Leonard.

“Oh no! Why are you so drunk?” Melissa hurried down the stairs, clearly distressed.

Quince knew why, but he could not say it directly. “We haven’t seen each other in a while, so Leonard had too much to drink.”

“Thank you for sending him home,” David said, leaning on his cane.

The couple wanted to assist Leonard but found it challenging in their old age. At that moment, Melissa saw Lisa in the dining room and immediately grew angry. The older woman exclaimed, “What are you still doing there?! Hurry up and help your husband up the stairs!”
