The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa ) -
Chapter 72
Chapter 72
Lisa hung her head while looking confused, and Leo reached out to play with her hair. Even though her hair was messy, it felt
soft to him.
“Why are you messing with my hair?” Lisa looked up and pushed his hand away.
Though she had never been in a romantic relationship, she had seen couples on campus where the boyfriend would playfully mess with his girlfriend’s hair.
“Oh, your hair is a mess and looks awful. I wanted to help fix it.” Leonard then raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t expect your hair to be so greasy. Tsk. How long has it been since you washed it?”
“Get lost! I just washed it today.” Lisa’s cheeks bulged like an angry puffer fish.
“You can leave now. Since you don’t want me to repay the money, I’ll look for my friend.” Lisa turned and walked away.
However, her leg pain made her limp, and Leonard’s towering figure appeared on her left.
“I’ll come with you. No worries, I can wait a bit and give you a ride home later,” Leonard offered, taking the medicine from
her.
Lisa felt something was odd. “You don’t have to—”
Leonard interrupted. “Can you handle bringing your friend back when you’re hurt and she’s likely in bad shape? I don’t want the police to call me again in the middle of the night, saying my wife’s in trouble.”
Lisa fell silent.
Celine’s ward was the third room from the door. Inside, it was bustling like a marketplace.
Celine was in a bed near the window, and two men were lying on the adjacent beds, both intoxicated. These two men were friends, burly and wearing gold chains around their necks. They gave off a thuggish appearance.
It was crowded, and there was no place to sit. A man with a tattooed arm boldly sat on Celine’s bed, holding a cigarette. While chatting with his friends, he glanced restlessly at the drowsy Celine.
This scene deeply disgusted Lisa, but fortunately, Leonard followed her in. In the presence of drunk men, a young woman like Celine was in a vulnerable position.
Lisa walked over and said bluntly, “Please move aside. You’re taking up most of my friend’s bed.”
“What do you mean, b*tch? I just sat here for a bit.” The tattooed man remained seated on the bed.
His friend approached her with a fake smile and asked, “Why are you being so calculating, young lady? The room is small, and there aren’t enough seats for all of us. That’s why he sat there.”
Leonard pulled Lisa behind him. He was wearing a suit, and his handsome face had a hint of coldness to it. He was not angry, but his towering stature gave off an air of authority even when he casually stood there.
“This is a hospital. You can’t smoke here, so put out your cigarette and get your *ss off that bed.” Leonard paused, a dangerous glint appearing in his eyes. “If you really want a bed, I can get you admitted so you can lay as much as you want.”
“Hey-” The tattooed man stood up.
His friend quickly restrained him and gave Leonard an apologetic smile. “Sorry about that. My friend had a bit too much to drink tonight. I’ll take him to the smoking area.”
