The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa ) -
Chapter 77
Chapter 77
“I’m going to the bathroom.” Leonard said as he got up and walked away.
Lisa hesitated over the remaining porridge but finished it to avoid waste.
At four a.m., a posh car parked below Lisa’s apartment building by the campus. The apartments there were in high demand, as they were near a grocery store, a subway station, and a popular cafe.
“Is this it?” Leonard asked, pretending to be unaware.
“Yes,” Lisa replied as she yawned. “You’ve done a lot today, so go home and rest. I’ll treat you to a meal one of these days.”
Leo grabbed her hand as she and Celine opened the car door to leave. He looked at Lisa in the dim light. “If you want to take me out to dinner, shouldn’t we swap phone numbers?”
Lisa blinked, realizing they hadn’t exchanged contact information yet. She quickly took out her phone, and Leonard already had his QR code open.
After scanning his QR code and adding him to her contacts, she waved goodbye without checking if he had added her.
Leonard added her to his phone and joined her social network. He discovered that he could only see her updates dating back three days and that she had posted something just yesterday.
It was a lovely image of the apartment, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a beige sofa, and flowers in a light green vase. The caption for the post read, “Home.”
Leonard was puzzled that she referred to the apartment as her home. He wondered, “Are all children from divorced families like this?”
Lisa switched on the lights after helping Celine upstairs, and the room was filled with a warm glow. They were too tired to talk, so they quickly showered and squeezed into the same bed to sleep.
When Lisa woke up, she felt dizzy and could not tell what time it was.
“Hey, it’s 1 p.m., and I made lunch.” Celine came out of the kitchen, holding a salad plate in her left hand and a bowl of pasta in her right. “I saw some ingredients in your fridge, so I made something you like.”
“When did you wake up?” Lisa plopped down on the sofa, still feeling drained. “You just finished the IV drip last night. You should’ve woken me up to cook for you instead.”
