Chapter 97

Madison suddenly realized something. “Steph, are you suggesting…”

“There won’t be a problem if a different Parker family member takes action against Lisa,” Stephanie replied.

“Steph, that’s so clever!” Madison’s gloomy mood was swept away in an instant. She knew Kenzie’s temperament too well. When the time was right, she would have no problem using her plan to get rid of Lisa.

Unaware that she had become a target, Lisa spent the next two days at home. She watched TV and played games, staying indoors while her face recovered.

Meanwhile, Celine continued working as a delivery person, insisting on completing her deliveries until the end of the month to receive her salary. She refused to give up her hard-earned money just because of Madison.

Lisa admired Celine’s perseverance. Lisa had been quite lazy lately compared to Celine. Once school started, she needed to get her career up and running quickly.

While she was planning her future career, Leslie called her. “Lisa, what’s going on? I went home for dinner today, and Isabella said you had moved out and rented a place. Why didn’t you tell me about something this big?”

Lisa sighed. She never understood her mother’s gossiping tendencies.

Leslie continued, “Isabella also mentioned that Leonard went to the house a few days ago to replace you. Did you run away from the Parker’s villa again? Why didn’t you come to me?”

“You’re married now, and I wouldn’t want to cause any trouble with Chelsea,” Lisa replied with a hint of concern. “I rented a nice apartment near the school. Are you free today? Why don’t you come over for dinner? I’ll cook a feast for you.”

“You rented an apartment?” Leslie became even more upset. “I have an empty place under my name. You can just stay there. There’s no need to rent an apartment.”

“No. That property was a gift to you from your mom. It wouldn’t be right for me to move there,” Lisa explained.

“It was a gift, so I have the right to do whatever I want with it. Besides, I’m married now, and Chris has his own place. I’m not going to live in that house.”

Leslie felt sorry for Lisa. The two grew up together, and she regarded Lisa as her biological sister. However, when Lisa needed help, she could not be of much assistance.

“Leslie, Your mother never liked us being so close. I can’t make her look down on me even more,” Lisa said thoughtfully. “I quite like the small apartment I rented.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end before Leslie replied, “Send me the address. I’ll come over in the afternoon.”

Leslie knew Lisa very well. Even if she had money, she would not easily spend it. She must have rented a cheap apartment, which was probably unsuitable for a girl.

Leslie decided she would persuade Lisa to move into her empty property.

However, when Leslie arrived and saw Lisa’s apartment and furnishings, she was astonished. “Is this the apartment you rented? You’re willing to spend so much to rent this place?”

“No, not at all. It’s only several hundred dollars in rent. The landlord urgently needed money and was eager to rent the place out, so I got a good deal.” Lisa spoke proudly, “It’s nice, right?”

“I can’t believe you got such a good deal!” Leslie thought it was strange, but Lisa living there would make her feel better. After all, the apartment’s management was quite decent.

“Guess I got lucky. It seems like my luck is turning around,” Lisa said with a cheerful smile.

Leslie rolled her eyes and asked, “Why’d you move out? Did something happen?”
