The Overthrown Kingdom: Book 1
Chapter 17: The News

Three days after Halloween on Earth, everyone was minding their own business. Today, Eliza was at Evie’s house watching tv while eating and talking with her every once in a while until Erica called her.

“If you haven’t already, turn the tv on and go to channel 58.” said Erica and with that said Eliza changed the channel to the given channel number. Channel 58 happened to be the News channel.

“Reporting live at the scene of the crime, more than twenty kids found dead on Halloween night. With us now are a few parents, who have just been notified about the death of their children. Care to say anything?” said a News reporter lady.

“My three-year-old kids, Taylor, Kris, and Sarah had gone out on Halloween with their babysitter, Ashley. When me and my husband came home last night, we found Ashley asleep on the couch, so we asked her where the kids were, and she told us that she put them to bed. But when we checked there, all we saw was a pool of blood on each bed sheet and the words, Ha! Ha! Ha!, written on the wall. All I could do was scream and cry.” said a crying mother. Eliza turned off the TV in utter shock.

“Whoa.” was all Evie say.

“I know, right? What kind of crazy, evil, inhuman person would do that to a bunch of kids and not have any remorse what-so-ever?” she asked.

“Greymore.” mumbled Evie.

“What was that?” she asked.

“Nothing.” said Evie. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

“Were you expecting anyone?” asked Evie.

“No, were you?” she asked.

“Nope.” said Evie as she went to open the door. As Evie opened the door, there stood Maya and Roxy.

“Oh, hey guys. Uh, what are you doing here?” asked Evie.

“Roxy here has something to tell you cause she thought that my response to it was me being over dramatic.” explained Maya.

“Oh, okay. Come in.” said Evie. As she let the two girls inside the house, they spotted Eliza, who was looking like her Victoria self.

“Oh, hey, Victoria. What are you doing here?” asked Maya.

“Just hanging out with Evie, she’s friends with my manager.” said Eliza.

“Cool, yeah, whatever, can I tell my big news now?” asked Roxy, getting impatient.

“Sure, go ahead.” said Evie.

“I’m pregnant! Isn’t that amazing!?” asked Roxy.

“Now, it’s their turn to react in 3...2...1.” said Maya and then on cue, both “Victoria” and Evie yelled.

“What!?” they said.

“I know right? Now, I have to start thinking of baby names and what color the nursery room should be, but Jason’s going to help me.” she said.

“This is Jason’s baby?” asked Evie.

“Yup, which means that it’s going to be so adorable!” she squealed.

“I don’t think you understand, Roxanne. That “What” wasn’t an OMG-how-totally-sweet kind of What, it was an oh-my-fucking-gosh-how-stupid-is-she kind of What.” said ‘Victoria’

“Why are you guy being so hurtful?” she asked.

“Why are you being so stupid? Roxy, you’re a sixteen year old, high school girl, who is captain of the cheer leading squad, and is having a baby. Does any of that sound right to you?” asked Evie.

“I mean,” started ‘Victoria’ while getting off the couch.

“This is Jason we’re talking about, he doesn’t love you. He just wants you virginity. Once that thing you call a child is out of you, it’ll be bye-bye Jason. Second, what kind of fucking stupid person gets pregnant when they haven’t finished school yet? Third, what will your parents think about all this?” asked ‘Victoria’. By this point Roxy was already crying.

“And lastly, what will those obnoxious cheerleaders say when they see you’re fat from pregnancy? They might support you since you’re all whores, who like to dress up as slutty bitches, or they’ll exclude you from the squad.” said ‘Victoria’ while smirking.

Roxy made her way towards the door. In all honesty, Eliza wasn’t trying to make Roxy upset. She was just merely pointing out the things that Roxy had thought to leave out of the whole situation. The girl was only focusing on the positives instead of the negatives as well. Were there pros to being to pregnant? Yes, but there were also and always cons to being pregnant, especially when you’re only sixteen and still in school that she wasn’t considering.

“Oh, and Roxanne?” asked ‘Victoria’.

“What bitch?” she snarled back. Now, Eliza would have loved to froze her to a wall or shoot an ice shard at her, but that would ruin the Victoria super popstar image that she had worked so hard to carve for herself through the years.

“If that baby is anything like it’s parents, then I hope it rots in the burning flames of Hell.” said ‘Victoria’. After that, Roxy left, closing the door behind her.

“Well, that’s one way to tell her that she made a bad choice.” said Maya, breaking the silence that had lingered through the air after Roxy’s departure. The sudden voice talking had mad the three girls laugh. For the next few hours, the three of them watched movies, talked, and had fun until Maya had to leave.
