The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret by Carly Glover -
Chapter 427 Heartfelt Moments and Lingering Shadows
Nathaniel slowly embraced Frey, as if that simple act drained all his strength.
This woman had completely exhausted him, body and soul. He held her tightly, a deep fear gnawing at him that someone might take her away.
"Don't say it, don't say it," Nathaniel's voice was low and hoarse. "Let's just live our lives well and not mention the past, okay?"
Frey frowned, a pang of pain piercing her heart.
Hatred, deep love, and entanglement-both of them were buried alive in these emotions.
She sighed, slowly raising her arms to reluctantly hug him back.
Given Nathaniel's state, Frey knew it would be impossible for him to drive back to his apartment in Pontenero.
She asked him to take a shower while she packed up the items in the combination lock boxes.
Realizing she was short a set of men's pajamas, she wondered how to get some when a knock came at the door.
Koen stood there, handing a bag through the door with an expression wishing her luck.
He left without a word.
Inside the bag, Frey found the pajamas Nathaniel needed, along with new underwear and toiletries from a luxury brand.
She couldn't help but smile bitterly, feeling incompetent as a wife.
If Koen were a woman, she might have felt compelled to give up her position.
Frey passed the clothes through the bathroom door. After a while, Nathaniel came out in pajamas, his hair still wet.
"Go and wash up," Nathaniel's voice was slightly hoarse.
Frey took her things and headed to the bathroom.
Exhausted and still shaken by the day's events, she took a hot bath to calm herself. When she came out in her pajamas, she found Nathaniel already lying on the bed, having moved to the edge to leave space for her.
Despite her fatigue, seeing Nathaniel's dissatisfied look and recalling how pitiful he seemed earlier, she walked over and lay beside him, feeling a bit
embarrassed.
He might have guessed what happened with Sawyer.
"Do you want to turn off the lights? Or leave a wall lamp on?" Frey asked, knowing that Nathaniel was afraid of the dark.
Instead, Nathaniel wrapped his arms around her tightly and whispered something in her ear, causing her cheeks to redden.
That night, she paid for Sawyer's mistake as Nathaniel seemed possessed.
The next morning, Frey's entire body ached as if she had been crushed, but she couldn't miss the first day of the exhibition.
With a stern expression, she avoided talking to Nathaniel, who still lay in bed.
Feeling guilty about his actions, he reached out to touch her smooth back, but she twisted away.
Smiling, he put his arm down. He was frustrated.
Despite his wealth and support, and even giving her many shares, she still worked so hard.
Her success at the exhibition, signing numerous orders for two jewelry companies, meant little to him.
He could help her open another jewelry company just for fun, to let her do what she liked.
But now, the woman he cherished
