Chapter 393

Waking up this morning felt different from the other days since the party to welcome me into the pack. Ithad been three days and now I finally felt like I was becoming more like myself again. This all–consuming want for Griffin was no longer the only thing on my mind. I would never not be attracted tomy mate. Only now I felt nervous about the upcoming trial with Hannah. I felt hungry and in need of ashower.
Not a short cold shower to regain some of my senses just to be able to have a meal without wanting tojump Griff’s bones. No, Iwanted a long hot shower or maybe even a bath. To wash the smell of days oflovemaking off me. A shower or bath that would warm my sore muscles. I meant the heat was comingto an end and I was happy about it. No matter how much I enjoyed being cooped up in our little bubbleof love and lust.
We had other things to worry about, the pack had not only accepted me into their pack. Their home andfamily. They had accepted me to be their next ruler alongside Griffin when the time was right. It was anhonor, I hadn’t been willing to take on for a long time. Now I could finally see it for what it was. A gift, one I should treasure dearly. And to do so I needed to be the best ruler I could be and continuouslygive my all to the pack.
The trial for Hannah filled me with nerves and I wish it was something I could skip. But I knew it wasn’tas for the rest of my tasks and

obligations now. I was eager to resume training with Isabella. To start helping my people as their futureLuna and Queen. And to finally replace myself a Gemma. Jessa had been kind enough to offer herservices, but I could tell her heart wasn’t in it. She had always wanted to be a
housekeeper and a stay–at–home mom.
That is why I declined her offer it wouldn’t be fair to any of us. Not on Jessa who would then spend alarge part of her life in a job she did not. want. Not on me because I would always feel guilty aboutforcing my best friend into doing something she didn’t want to. And not on the pack and the countrywho deserved a Gemma who was all in. Someone who wanted this job to help me take care of thepack.
Her father Theo had been a homemaker by choice. That is why we spent most of our childhood there. When she offered me to become my Gemma I reminded her of that and told her she should just expectall our pups to hang around their home as the rest of us were working leading the country. Adding inthe would have the hardest job out of all of them. At the time it was a joke, to make her feel betterabout not helping out as she put it. Now I laid my hands down on my stomach because that fantasymight become a reality much sooner.
“Did you feel anything, you shouldn’t be able to already right?” I hadn’t noticed Griffin walk in with ourcoffees just as I was cradling my
stomach.
Another sign that the heat was dwindling, seeing I was not hyper- focused on Griffin anymore.

“No I am not, just thinking about the fact that I might very well be pregnant now” I smiled at Griffin. Theheat may have come much sooner than either of us expected.
We both have always wanted a big family, I wanted at least three pups. Probably because of howhappy I was growing up with a younger brother and sister. We all had our own friends, but still, we hadan inseparable bond. Even now that we had grown up we still did. Sure we didn’t live in the samehouse anymore and we did not speak to each other daily. Not even Dan and me even though we livedin the same pack. Still, I know without a doubt in my mind that they would always be there for me whenI needed them too. As I would for them.
“It seems like you are feeling more like yourself today?” Griffin asked as he settled in the bed next tome.
I nodded taking a sip of my coffee just being content with sitting so close to him this time. Not feel theneed to practically crawl in his lap to get as much physical contact as I could.
“I am I think we can spend today getting our bearings, looking at all the gifts we have gotten. And letthe pack know we will be back to our usual work starting tomorrow?” I suggested being met with hisbright smile as he agreed with me.
We both know that if push came to shove we would have been able to get back to the grind today if itwas needed. Luckily we were in the calm before the storm, as it was good to have a day together.Where we could

just enjoy each other’s company. Let the effect of the heat slowly wane. Not to mention that I had seenthe ridiculous amount of offerings we had. The list of meals Griffin had kept that were brought to us. Iwanted to write to each and every pack member who left us a gift. Either as a welcome to the pack giftor as a blessing for our heat a handwritten thank you note.
A sincere thank you, both because my pack deserved so. And secondly to show them the kind ofleader I was going to be to them. I had seen firsthand the damage an arrogant leader who valuesthemselves above their pack could do. It left me determined to show my pack, our pack, that I was theirequal. We all had a role to play in this pack and this country’s dynamic. While mine was a heavyburden to carry, it was not the only role of importance. The strength in a pack, in a country, lies. with itsweakest link. There was only one Luna, One Queen, but there were dozens of warriors and packdoctors and even more omegas., Their voice could grow louder than just my voice.
“Let’s enjoy one last meal made for us by Milo, and then maybe we can have breakfast in the packkitchen tomorrow?” Griffin suggested. showing me we were both on the same level.
Like me, he wanted to show our pack, our people that we were one of them. And joining the packbreakfast after having been cooped up for four days was a great sign of showing them that we missedpack life. And we’re happy to be able to be included in it once again. Now though I was going to take along hot bath before enjoying another breakfast that Milo made us. He had been the one to make uswonderful meals during these three days. Even on his days off. Other pack members had just left

us snacks. I had no doubt Milo made it clear that he was the one cooking for us. I would not only haveto write him a thank you note but thank him in person too. Before I could though we would need to sortthrough all the other gifts we were given.
