The Princess Slave
Chapter 24

Violette POV

“There’s a Sylvia here to see you.” Ms. Beatrice said. I jumped off the bed excitedly and made my way toward her. I couldn’t wait to see Sylvia.. it has been far too long. I was used to seeing her every day.

She stepped aside and that’s when I saw Sylvia. My heart felt a million times lighter when she gave me a bright smile. She truly is okay! I could t believe my eyes, so I blinked a few times but there she continued to stand. Right in front of me.

“Oh, Princess! You look amazing! Have they been nice to you? I didn’t know what happened to you.. they took me..” she ran toward me and wrapped her arms around me tightly.

“I.. I asked them to. I couldn’t leave you there.. not while his men were still killing ours.” A tear fell down my face. I couldn’t let her get hurt again. I beat myself up until Lillian came, wondering if I’d made the right decision to have them bring Sylvia.

“I’ve been staying at the orphanage. The headmistress is wonderful! She is so kind to me, Princess! ” She said.

“That’s amazing, Sylvia. I’m so happy you’ve been safe. I’ve missed you so much!” I squeezed her tightly before pulling away and holding her at arms length so I could see her.

“Lillian should be in here soon.” I smiled. I wish Sylvia could stay. But I know not to push Viktor. And today, he is in a mood. What else is new? Ms. Beatrice smiled and stepped out of the room.

“Why does King Viktor have you so close to his chambers? You’re his slave, right?” She asked. I sighed and nodded my head.

“I can’t tell you why, because I don’t even know myself,” I said. It bothered me. I hate being so close to him.. but at the same time I felt the most safe in this part of the castle.

“I’m sorry.. Violette. I should’ve stayed with Dominic.. it’s my fault the king captured you and made you his slave.. it’s my fault your maidenhead..he broke you in..” she cried into her hands.

“No.. Sylvia. Don’t cry.. he.. he hasn’t, yet.” I said. I say “yet”, because I’m afraid until I get out of here.. he could take it at any time.

“He hasn’t? But.. but he’s a king.. it’s the law that if he takes a slave she has to be broken in on the first night..” she continued sobbing, her face red and covered in tears.

“He hasn’t. I don’t know why. He’s had every opportunity, but he’s never..” I said. Yes.. he touched me, saw me naked, and whipped me as a punishment.. but he’s yet to try to take my virtue.

“Thank, goddess.” She sobbed.

“Did.. that man..” I began but she shook her head

“He tried to but I fought so hard. He kept hitting me trying to get me to stop.. that’s when the men burst through the door and..” she had a blank expression on her face as she remembered that day.

“It’s okay, Sylvia.. you don’t have to talk about it if you do not wish to,” I said softly. The door opened and in rushed Lillian.

“Sylvia!” She tackled Sylvia on my bed, their laughter filling the air. Goddess, I’ve missed this. Their smiles. Their laughter. By far the best sounds in the entire world.

“How have you been? Have they treated you okay? I’m so happy neither of you were alone.” Sylvia said.

“You’ve been alone too!” Lillian said. Sylvia shook her head.

“I’ve not been. You know that. I may not have been with you two.. but I haven’t been alone. And I made a friend! She’s a year younger than me and we do our chores together every day.” Sylvia said. Lillian stood up and smiled.

“Good, Sylvia! That’s so good that you’ve made a friend!” Lillian said excitedly.

“Have you made any?” Sylvia asked us. I shook my head.. I don’t have friends besides these two girls.. and the servants at home. And I can’t talk to anyone.

“We have each other and that’s all that matters,” Lillian said. She looked back at me and gave me a smile. I knew Lillian made a few friends here, she’s such a likable person. Me.. on the other hand, I believe I’ve made more enemies than I could’ve imagined and I’ve not done anything.

“Exactly. That’s all I need. You both are all I need.” I said.

“Let’s go get lunch! Ms. Beatrice said it would be ready soon, maybe it is by now!” Lillian said. She ran to the door and opened it. Food sounds amazing right now.. I’m so hungry.

“That would be swell! I missed breakfast because I was so excited.. I rushed the driver they sent and had him bring me early.” Sylvia said. I giggled at her impatience.

“Then let’s go get something.” I smiled. She grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

We walked down the hall, past the Kings room. I was about to smile at Loren when my stomach twisted in pain and I fell to my knees screaming.

“Princess? What’s wrong?” Sylvia’s frantic voice barely registered In my mind. Loren kneeled next to me, lifting my face and examining me. He had a sad look on his face, but he never said a word. I felt a cold warm liquid run down my top l*p and he ran his finger over it. When he pulled away I saw b***d.

What is going on with me?

“She gets these pains.. sometimes.” Lillian rubbed my back as I sobbed. I clutched my stomach tightly until finally, it stopped altogether. I let out a shaky deep breath, the King’s door swung open and he stood there staring at me with a shocked expression on his face.

“What’s happened?” He asked. His hair was messy, and his clothes were barely thrown on correctly.

“It was her pains-“ Lillian stopped talking when Minerva pushed past Viktor and glared at me. Her clothes were just as messy as Viktor’s.. gross.

“Take her to Beatrice. They keep getting worse.” Viktor said. He finally took his eyes off me and looked at Loren.

“Yes, my king,” Loren said. He slid his arm under my legs and around my back then lifted me up.

I kept my head down, I could feel everyone’s eyes on me and it made me want to cry. I hate being the center of attention.. especially while I’m In pain.

We walked through the castle until we stopped at the kitchens where Ms. Beatrice is.

“Ms. Beatrice, the King requested you to look at Violette.. her pains.. they’re worse. I think it made her nose bleed.” Lillian said. Her voice was filled with worry.

“Oh, dear. Take her to the infirmary, I’ll follow.” Ms. Beatrice placed the back of her hand on my forehead.

“No fever.. but you look very ill,” Beatrice said. She sighed and followed as we walked to the infirmary. I wasn’t feeling the pains anymore, but goddess I felt so weak. I hated everything about this. It unsettled me..
