Kiarra stood there shocked and folded her arms as she watched him disappear. There was a strain between them and her wolf could feel him shutting her out. What did she do?

She tried to mind link him but she got no response. He was definitely ignoring her. He also didn't say anything about their date but in light of recent events she didn't expect them to actually go anywhere. She tried not to think too much about it and spent the day unpacking their stuff. The hardest part was the heavy smell of him on his shirts. It made her feel even more worried and uneasy. Samuel asked her a couple times if she was okay but she didn't feel like making him a part of why his brother was coldly ignoring her. He'd probably ignore Samuel too if she pushed him to ask Zion. She would just have to wait until he returned. Was she doing something wrong?

It all started after her almost getting shot this morning. She placed out the last of the candles she had bought. It was evening and he still hadn't turned up or answered her and she was getting even more worried. Lisa had already gone back home and it was just her and Samuel. He refused to leave until his brother arrived but when she asked him when was that or where he was Samuel wouldn't give her an answer. He was clearly talking to Samuel and not her. It was as if he blocked her. Did he change his mind? Was this too much for him?

After a while of it getting way too late her worry turned frantic and she decided she would go and look for him. Kiarra lied to Samuel that she was going to sleep in their old bedroom in the pack house because she wanted to spend their first night in the house together so she could go look for him herself.

He wasn't at the pack house. No one had seen him. His truck was still there so he was definitely there. Her mind started to wander somewhere else and she brushed it off. No she would feel it and he wouldn't do that to her. Not with the way he looked at her. She had practically walked half the entire pack looking for him and it was now almost midnight. The air was cold and she was now full blown panicking. If she looked the entire pack and still didn't replace him then she was going to wake up Samuel and Daniel. She paused and looked up at the sky at the beautiful full moon overhead. It looked like how she had it many times in her dreams when she saw him. It was then that she knew in her heart where he was. She walked for awhile hoping it was the right direction. She was relieved when she saw his form sitting on the hillside. She slowly walked over to him and when she stopped beside him he looked up at her surprised he'd see her there. He was looking at her like she was a ghost. He reached out and touched her unbelievably and she wasted no time sitting in his lap. He was okay. Relief flooded through her and she sighed hugging him tight and snuggling deep into him. She breathed in his scent and felt her throat tighten. When he didn't hug her back she looked up at him. Something was clearly wrong.

"Zion"

He didn't answer and she didn't like how he looked. He looked distant, way too far away from her.

"Zion?"

As if he finally heard her and was sensing her worry he finally pulled her in hugging her back tight against him. She reached up and softly kissed him feeling better when he increased the pressure kissing her back. When she pulled back his green eyes were studying her.

"Zion you're scaring me" she whispered to him concerned.

"I'm sorry I don't mean to."

"What's wrong?"

He didn't answer her.

"You've blocked me out and especially with all that happened today you could have at least let me know you're fine. Don't I at least deserve that?"

"I know I should have said something"

That was it. She could feel the curtains closing down again and she rested her head on his shoulder.

"I've seen you here before"

"You have?" he asked confused.

He started to rub her back as he listened to her and she felt warm tremors travel up her spine.

"Yes in my dreams. I would see you all the time sitting here. Sometimes in your wolf form, sometimes like this. You would always look sad and I would try to reach out to you. But every time I got close and reached out you would disappear and I would wake up alone wondering where you were and how to get to you." "Mhm" he replied with his mouth in a tight line.

"Clearly something is bothering you. It would be nice if you would talk to me instead of shutting me out. I don't know it just feels like we've gone back to square one. Do you not want me anymore?"

His body tensed and he looked down at her.

"What? No no no" he said gruffly and kissed her hairline. "That is furthest from the truth Anastasia. I never want you to feel like that. You're everything to me. I want you more than anything." he breathed out heavy." Today just made me wonder if maybe I'm putting you in more danger and harm."

"How?"

"You could have died out there and there is absolutely nothing I could have done just like anywhere else. I'd rather you be alive and well with someone who could actually protect you than dead knowing there is nothing I could have because of this wheelchair. How could I live with myself?"

His words cut her deep and she looked at him unbelievably.

"Zion I don't need someone to protect me and I think you've done a good job so far even to the point of coming on a little too strong sometimes. Things happen and we just make the best of it. You would risk us being perfectly happy?" He didn't answer her and she continued.

"You're my other half and you make me insanely happy and everything just feels at peace when I'm with you. I would rather spend whatever time I get with you being happy than a lifetime with someone else who would never make me happy. I would die from a broken heart because I love you. I love you more than anything. I knew it the moment I walked through those doors and saw your green eyes."

She found his lips with hers, trailing her hand down his hard chest. She made sure he felt everything she had just said in her kiss. His hand started to travel up her thigh and she felt like she was losing it. She was more than ready to give him everything. The need to mate with him was more than she could bear and she knew he was struggling too. Her wolf wanted to mark him and she could feel the strong force of his as well.

When they finally broke a part she lightly traced her lips against his.

"I just need you to talk to me and let me inside your head sometimes." "Okay." he agreed. He would let her in.

He kissed her passionately one more time and cupped her face.

"I love you too"

She smiled brightly at him, her eyes lighting up from hearing the words from her mate. He chuckled at her happiness running his hands along her waist. "And you still owe me a date"

"Yes ma'am"

He wasn't done with her. He started to kiss her neck enjoying her little gasps when he was close to the spot where she would carry his mark before whispering. "I love you Anastasia."
