The Rebel
Chapter 17

Logan returned to only see his partner casually sitting on the couch, watching a show and munching on her favorite chips.

Cropped jeans showing off her toned legs and a loose t-shirt on top.

He felt angry all of a sudden, the idea of other males in the pack seeing her wearing it didn’t sit well with him…

However, he said nothing, heading towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Returning, he sat down next to her, when his eyes met hers.

They just stared at each other, with Vera being the first to break it up.

Logan leaned back on the couch, closing his eyes when he heard her question.

“Where have you been these last few days?” »

The thought of him missing brought a smile to his lips.

Opening his eyes, he saw her flipping through the channels.

“Pack business,” he said barely and she nodded slightly. His eyes lingered on her legs again and he voiced it this time.

“How many times have I told you not to wear such revealing clothes in the pack house. There are thousands of unmated male wolves here. »

She sat back down smiling, putting down the remote and crossing her arms.

“And how many times have I told you that I don’t care. »

He just sighed, knowing that another argument was going to start.

“Just go get changed, Vera, please, I’m really tired to pick a fight with you now.” »

“I won’t.” Change your shitty thinking first,” she scoffed as she got up to leave, when he grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him.

She landed on his chest with a scream.

His hands pressed to his chest as he stared at her.

“You don’t, but I care what other people think of my partner.” You represent me now, Vera. You’re mine. »

She rolled her eyes. Which made his grip on her waist tighten and pull her even closer to him.

“I’m not yours. I will never accept you. »

His hands moved down to rub circles on her legs and she held her breath. The tingles arose at his touch.

“We’ll see,” he said, barely leaving her completely and she staggered back. Adjusting her balance to only feel angry at him.

However, he didn’t seem bothered. Sighing, he looked up at her.

“Sit down, Vera. I need to talk to you about something. »

He looked serious, all the malice had disappeared from his eyes.

She struggled, but decided to listen to it for once.

She sat down.

” Tell me. »

He didn’t like his tone, but didn’t point it out. I think this would lead to another argument.

Bending his hands, he began.

“The day after tomorrow, the vote for the near wolf-wolf king took place at the Royal Court. And every wolf-wolf is required to be present there with himself. »

She smiled, making him pause in between. Place her legs on the table, she concentrated on the television.

“Why are you smiling, Vere? I’m very serious right now. How can you replace humor in this? »

She raised an eyebrow at him, then replied: “Because that’s funny.” You are told that you are not like others, but you have the same desires.

You want to win this vote and be elected King, enjoy the ultimate power. So tell me, how are you different from the powerless Alphes? »

He looked at her fixedly.

“You don’t want to be the Queen of the Wild Wolves?” ”, he asked and she smiled at him, moving her head to say no.

She is a kind of closed book. It was very difficult for him to understand it.

Ignoring his comment, he decided to get straight to the point.

“Anyway, what I mean is…”

She already knows what he wants to say, fear fills her insides, even if he can continue. She shook her head and got up to leave.

“Just listen to me for once, Vere. I already have a lot of things on my plate, please don’t damage the things. »

He came closer to her, looked him in the eyes before continuing.

“I am obliged to do what all my other comrades do. It’s true, Vere, we’re supposed to do this. Please… just let me f**k you. »

He woke up tiredly and that’s when Vere noticed the dark circles under his eyes.

“What happened?” “, she asked and he reached into her hair. He turned around to look out the window.

He didn’t like her tone, but didn’t point it out. Knowing it would lead to another argument.

Folding his hands, he began.

“The day after tomorrow, the vote for the next werewolf king will take place at the royal court. And each werewolf is required to be present there with his mate. »

She smiled, making him stop in between. Propping her legs up on the table, she focused on the television.

“Why are you smiling, Vera? I’m very serious right now. How can you replace humor in that? »

She raised an eyebrow at him, then replied, “Because it’s funny.” You said you weren’t like the others, but you have the same desires.

You want to win this vote and be elected King, enjoying ultimate power. So tell me, how are you different from the other power-hungry Alphas? »

He stared at her.

“Don’t you want to be the Werewolf Queen?” he asked and she smiled at him, moving her head to say no.

“I am happy as I am. The royal court is completely screwed. The Queen, just a puppet. »

“You seem to know a lot about the royal court. Have you been there? »

Vera was silent for a second. His smile disappeared to be replaced by a cold stare. Turning back to him, she lied about his bravery.

“I may have lived like a rebellious Alpha but I know more than you expect of me. »

She is a kind of closed book. It was very difficult for him to understand her.

Ignoring her comment, he decided to get straight to the point.

“Anyway, what I mean is…”

She already knew what he meant, fear filling her insides, before he could even continue. She shook her head no, getting up to leave.

“I know what you mean and my answer is no, Alpha. »

Logan blocked his way, preventing him from leaving.

“Just listen to me for once, Vera. I already have a lot on my plate, please don’t make things worse. »

He approached her, staring into her eyes before continuing.

“I am obliged to do what all the other companions do. That’s right, Vera, we’re supposed to do this. Please… Just let me mark you. »

He looked tired and that’s when Vera noticed the dark circles under his eyes.

” What happened ? she asked and he ran his hand through her hair. He turned to look out the window.

“Trust me, Vera. I don’t want to become the king for glory and power…I have my own reasons. The King’s son has just escaped and now he will do anything to win. The stakes are really high… Your absence will extinguish the only little ray of hope I have… Please. »

” What do you mean ? How can he win without getting the votes? »

Logan managed to chuckle, turning to face him.

“It seems like you don’t know royal affairs that well.” Justice is dead there Vera, you don’t know this bastard. He can go to any extent to stay in power. »

Vera could see the amount of hatred Logan had for his father. However, the reason was unknown.

She didn’t pay attention to his words because she knew somewhere that they were true.

“What are your reasons?” Why do you hate the King so much? »

Logan looked down, unable to answer.

She moved closer, desperate to know what his reasons were.

“Vera… I… I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you…”

“Very well then. It will not happen. You won’t mark me. »

He held her face in his palms, making the tingles explode.

“Damn Vera. Please. You have to accept it. Or I will not be responsible for the consequences that follow. »

“My wolf is a real beast, Vera. I really don’t want to hurt you. »

She held her head high and walked away from him, dropping his hands.

“Are you threatening me, you bastard?” »

And that’s when the color of his eyes started to change and he grabbed her neck from behind, pressing her against him.

His breath hit her earlobe as he whispered.

“I’m asking you this in the most civilized way possible, Vera. Let me mark you. »

Vera’s wolf became agitated, asking to let go and accept her companion’s offer.

But, Vera was adamant.

Turning the tables and pinning Logan’s back against the wall, Vera pulled out a knife and placed it near his neck, pinning him.

He chuckled, his eyes returning to normal.

“That’s what excites me the most, Vera. The more you resist, the harsher my wolf will be. »

She touched the knife to his neck, causing a trail of b***d to flow down his chest.

“Let’s see who will resist and who will give in. »

And he moved his head in disappointment, the smile on his lips disappearing, he fixed her with an icy gaze.

The color of his eyes changed, showing that his beast was alive now.

Placing his hand on the one holding the knife.

He began to apply pressure, making a cracking sound.

She closed her brown eyes and then she opened them again, but now with a hazel glow.

The Rebel was in control.

Let the battle begin.
