Chapter 41

You killed my Grandmother!!,” I yelled at her,my eyes narrowed as I clenched my fist.

I had told Rick everything he needed to know about being his lineage and we had come home together after I wrapped my grandmother’s b*dy.

“You come here and yell at me,speaking about what I don’t understand..have you. finally gone mad?,” she asked and I could swear I caught a glint of excitement in her eyes.

I scoffed, “I know you killed my mother and kidnapped my boys and now my grandmother..”

“That was Norman…,”

And Raven and Rolan…,”

“I was coerced!!,he broke his mother out of a well guarded cell, broke ME out!!!,taking my father out would’ve been a piece of cake for him,” she spat out, cutting me off again.

“I don’t know why Lucien believes you. I know you think you have everyone wrapped around your finger. But I’m telling you, I’ll make sure Lucien sees the real you,the way I see through your facade!…”

“You call him Lucien as if he’s your playmate, isn’t that wrong. He played with you. a little and you began to have ideas,I’m back now and you really need to stop,” she said firmly.

“Shut up!,”

“For an omega, you seem to have so much guts,” she pointed out.

“He’s my mate!.”

“He is MY mate. MINE! and I’m carrying his child…,”

I snarled at her. “Liar!!”

“The healer confirmed it,” she said with a smile.

I didn’t know if it was the smile or the voice or whatever it was, but it irked me to the point that I lurched forward at her,my nails coming out and baring my teeth.

I didn’t hear Lucien come into the room,I didn’t hear Eve calling out my name and I certainly didn’t hear Rick’s cry. I only saw my target, the one I’m supposed to annihilate,my enemy, Rielle Archer!.

I felt someone pulling me back and that was when I regained my composure,it was Lucien.

“What the hell, Amara?,” I spun around to face him,he looked furious and I kept breathing heavily..

“What is going on here?,” he asked again and I swallowed hard, willing the tears not to drop.

I saw Eve mutter something and drag Rick with her. I shouldn’t have let my son see me like that,he’d think we are monsters.

“She killed my grandmother,” I announced and she scoffed.

Lucien seemed to hesitate before speaking. “Your grandmother is dead?,

“I went to see her and instead met her b*dy,lying in a pool of her own blood, very much dead,” I added and she sighed.

“I am sorry for your loss, but you can’t just thrown accusations at me!,” she stated as she sat down.

Lucien stood by the doorway, his hands deep inside his pocket as he seemed to be looking for the right words to say.

“Rielle, did you leave this mansion today?,” he asked, still standing there, not looking at either of us.

“I have been here since. I got back, the maids can vouch for me,” she replied as she stood up to face Lucien.

“Where is the b*dy now?He asked and even without calling my name or looking at me,I knew he was referring to me.

“I left if there,” I replied and continued.

“But you have to believe me Lucien, I caught a whiff of Rielle’s smell at the scene,” I added.

Rielle scoffed, “since when do omegas start getting a ‘whiff or other’s scent?,” she burst into laughter now and I swear I could see a smile on Lucien’s l*ps.

“I…I..I know that smell!, I’m sure it’s hers!!,” I yelled as I faced Lucien.

“You don’t know whatever it is you scented, Amara. You must be in shock over the death, I’ll have Greyson and the others go over there and bring the b*dy here…”

“No!!. She has to be buried in the bayou. She was a traditional werewolf and I’d love to keep her memory,” I said, shooting glares at Rielle.

“Fine,” he said simply.

‘Can I talk to you for a minute,” I said as I turned to face Lucien.

“Go ahead,I’m listening,” He said, shoving his hands deeper into his pockets.

“Alone”

“Whatever you have to say,say it here, right now,” He said and I glanced at Rielle who shrugged.

I swallowed hard. Now that Rielle’s back,it seems I’ve become invincible.

“Nothing,” I muttered and turned to walk away.

“And,Amara,” Lucien called,I didn’t turn to face him, I just stood there, curling my fist into a ball.

“Yes,” I replied calmly.

“Let this be the last time you come here and point fingers accusingly at Rielle,” He said and I began to walk away.

I walked briskly to my room, hoping to replace Eve there.

“What happened? Why did you get all worked up!!You shouldn’t have done that,” she said as soon as I entered.

“Where’s Rick?,

“Asleep,on my bed,” she replied and I sighed upon seeing the glass of wine in her hand.

“He’s been through a lot, from….Our Grandmother’s dead….murder,” I said, realizing that she didn’t hear me tell Lucien.

“What?!,” she asked. That was the first time I was seeing Eve lose her composure. She was genuinely surprised.

“I couldn’t even talk to her!. I met her dead. It seemed like an hour before I

arrived,” I stated.

“Rielle never left the mansion..”

“So she told Lucien,but we’d never know. She’s a sneaky b*tch,” I said,my voice laced with venom.

“No no no…..”

“I caught a whiff of a familiar scent there. Hers!!,” I announced and she looked at me incredulously.

“You can now smell other wolves,“? I smiled at her question. She knew I couldn’t do that before.

“I can. I can also do this,” I said,my claws coming out.

“Yea..I saw you do that. You shouldn’t have done that in front of her. If she never suspected you of having powers, she would now,” she warned and I nodded. There was much sense in what she was saying.

“Let’s bury grandma first. How she’d have wanted.”

“In the bayou,”

In the bayou,” we said simultaneously and chuckled.

She had always expressed her will to be put to rest just like the people of the ancient times. Burnt in the bayou.

We stood and watched the smoke rise up and disappear into the air. We had just burned Grandma’s b*dy and said the ancient prayers for her soul to rest.

“Rielle did this,” I started as we stared at the smoke.

“We aren’t sure,” she commented and I scoffed.

“I know what scent I caught,I know it!!”

“What if you thought it was hers but it was someone different, someone else!” she said and I shook my head.

“I know it’s difficult to believe….

“It’s not!. I’m just telling you,it might not be her. Why would she do that? She’d be a fool to do that now, when she just got here,” she pointed out.

“My point exactly!. It was her,I know that smile. But I don’t want to believe it’s what. I’m thinking,” I said softly.

“What are you thinking?,” she questioned and I sighed.

“That she must’ve somehow found out about my power and maybe she knows. something about it and knowing that the crone isn’t here, I’d have to go to grandma and ask her. Maybe there’s something about it she didn’t want me to replace out about and so she killed grandma,” I stated matter of factly.

“What’s there again that she doesn’t want you to know about?”

“I don’t know. But I’m sure she doesn’t want me to replace out something,” I said again.

“Who do we ask now?,” she questioned.

“I don’t know. The healer might run to Lucien. She can’t even be trusted. She might’ve lied about Rielle’s pregnancy.”

“No,she didn’t lie about that. She’s really pregnant,”

“With Lucien’s baby? Or Norman’s baby?,”

Suddenly, Eve burst into laughter. I stared at her as she kept on laughing.

“What’s wrong?,” I asked with a raised brow.

“Everything you just said,” she continued laughing.

“Rielle’s pregnancy?,”

“Oh yes,about that,”

“You said she’s pregnant,” I pointed out.

“Oh yes,that she is,”

“But?,” I had sensed a ‘but‘ coming.

“But it’s not Lucien’s,neither is it Norman’s,” she stated, suddenly looking serious.

“What?…,” I furrowed my brows in confusion. I had been certain that it was Norman’s child.

“Does that mean….she cheated on them both?, that there’s another man?,” I questioned, suddenly realizing the kind of monster she is.

“It does mean that her mate isn’t who we thought it is. She knows that and that’s why she just kept on using Norman, saying he’s the one. She believes we’d never replace out.”

“What!!,” I was really confused now.

“It’s not Norman..,” I breathed out, realization setting in.

“No. Norman’s my mate.”

“But…

“Greyson?,” she chuckled. “He’s Hers.”
