Chapter 57
She held a smile on her l*ps as she said those words and my heart began to beat wildly in fear.
I was right. She must have been suspecting me for a while now and that could be the reason she murdered my grandmother.
“That’s why you killed my grandmother,” I shot out, suddenly overcome with rage. She had threatened my children and she knew my secret. I didn’t care about her rage anymore.
“Think what you will, Amara. Lucien doesn’t believe you and oh, she paused and smiled widely. “I will be the judge in your trial and it’s tomorrow…your sister and her boyfriend have already been tried.”
I glared at her, my heart racing. If Eve and Norman had already been tried, they would definitely be guilty, for her to be smiling about it like this and only the goddess knows what had been done to them.”
“Where are they?” I questioned, fearing the worst. No matter what, Lucien wouldn’t allow her to really punish Eve.
“She stole my mate as hers–”
“Bullshit, Rielle. We both know that he’s not your mate, neither is he the leader of
the blood creek!”
“All that matters is that you’re in there and I’m out here..so who’s the winner?” She smiled widely, baring her teeth as she beckoned to the guard to come closer.
She began to walk away, chuckling and I clenched my fist tightly, feeling my fingernails digging into my palm.
“Where’s my sister!!,” I yelled as she began to walk away and she turned to me, smiling.
My b*dy felt weak and I fell to the ground. The ache in my chest came back stronger and I clutched my chest, struggling to breathe.
“Are you okay!” Troy ran into my cell and I saw him look at another guard, muttering something inaudible and I shook my head.

“No–no,” I croaked out.
He held me, trying to get me out and I took in deep slow breaths until I was calm.
“Where is my sister?” I asked, pulling away from him as soon as I regained my
composure.
“Are you sure, you’re okay?,” he demanded, peering into my face and I nodded.
“Where is Eve?,” I asked again.
He sighed. “She’s fine. She got tried
“I know that!” I snapped and he heaved a sigh.
“She was found guilty of treason and abetting a kidnap as well as an attempt to the Luna and Alpha’s life-
He was still talking when I yelled. “I don’t want to know all those. Just tell me where she is right now!”
“She was supposed to be given the death sentence-
My heart sank. The death sentence was only given in extreme situations and Treason was one of such. The death sentence hasn’t been meted out to anyone in years, as I heard.
“So she-”
“She’s safe or so–she hasn’t been found yet-” he was still saying when I interrupted him.
“What do you mean she hasn’t been found!” I shrieked, cradling my torso.
“She went missing immediately after the trial. She and the other person,” he explained and I furrowed my brows.
“What do you mean by that?”
“It was time to take them to the place where their sentence would be carried out, then we just couldn’t replace them..it was as if they disappeared,” he reported.
I heaved a sigh of relief. That was Lucien. He must have rescued her, just like his letter promised.

“Thank you,” I said and walked slowly back to my cell.
“If you don’t feel well, I could go meet the Alpha and report to him. I think you should see a healer, you don’t look well at all,” he stated and I shook my head.
“I’m fine. Thank you, Troy.”
I had started talking to Troy about five days after my imprisonment. He was the only guard who seemed bothered enough to ask how I was faring. The other guards seemed indifferent and always minded their business. He was very kind and even brought snacks to me, almost every day. All thanks to him, my stay in the cell wasn’t boring.
“Where were you when the children got kidnapped?” one of the elders asked, glaring at me.
I stood in the center of the crowded room, my heart pounding against my chest. The air was heavy with tension, and I could feel their collective anger directed towards me. Their eyes bore into my soul, filled with disdain and I instantly knew. that this trial would never favor me.
I met Rielle’s eyes and her l*ps held a smile of contempt. She must’ve carefully planned this. After all, she did tell me that I had nothing. That she had the people, the wealth, the fame, and most of all, Lucien’s support.
“At the hospital. I worked at a hospital,” I admitted and they began to murmur.
I swallowed hard as I scanned the faces in the room. A council had been formed for my own case and I knew they would be hand–picked by Rielle herself. The council consisted of 9 members and they were all elders loyal to her grandfather.
I looked at their faces, the disdain they had for me, apparent with their clenched jaws and side murmurs. These people hated me and everything about me.
“Could you tell us why you decided to Work in a hospital, at no other place, but human territory?” one of the elders asked.
“Perhaps to give your leader the chance to take the children and use them against. the Alpha,” another said and they shook their heads in disgust.

their disdain for me and my kind would never let them uphold justice. Besides, they have always been against me being Luna. They were the very same people who brought different women for Lucien to take as his Luna when Rielle left.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my trembling hands. I knew I had to maintain my composure, to show them that their hatred would not break me. But it was hard, so hard, not to let their hate and disdain toward me seep into my being, not to let it crush my spirit or make me burst out in rage.
“I left Silverpine as I couldn’t cope with the Alpha’s rejection,” I said slowly, curling my fist into a ball so deep that I thought it might have drawn blood.
“So let me get this straight. You got rejected by the Alpha and you left Silverpine because of that. But that’s not all, you found out you were carrying the Alpha’s child,” another elder said and I nodded.
“Speak up, woman!”
“Yes,” I croaked out.
I glanced at Lucien and I saw his clenched fist. His eyes seemed to be apologizing and I blinked back the tears that had already clouded my eyes.
I wonder if he had to let Rielle go through with all these just to earn her trust. What if I get the death sentence? What if after all these acts, something still happens to Kai? I know I have to stop thinking about that and trust the seer’s words. that he’ll be fine. It was just that I couldn’t help but wonder about the gnawing feeling in my chest.
The rest of the trial went by in a blur as I listened to their accusations, their twisted versions of events. They distorted the truth, weaving a web of lies designed to tarnish my name further. I clenched my fist as I listened to them, wishing for nothing but to wipe that smirk away from
Rielle’s face.
I looked into each pair of angry eyes, my gaze unyielding. I wouldn’t go down. without a fight, I had to prove myself at least, even as I knew that the outcome of the trial was predetermined.
“You connived with the leader of this cult…” it was another elder who had been referring to the blood creek as a cult.

“I didn’t–”
“You will only speak when you are spoken to. You’re on trial here!,” he snapped and I nodded my head slowly.
“What am I even doing here if you won’t listen to me? I shouldn’t be tried if my own version of the events won’t be heard!” I yelled. I was tired of just standing there and watching them weave lies upon lies about me and my family.
I watched Rielle as she smiled in amusement and the shocked expression on the elders‘ faces.
They called my family a dysfunctional one and that they didn’t blame me because. after all, my sister killed my father and my mother ran away to be with some man, they kept spewing rubbish and I sighed as I glared back at them.
“How dare a mere omega talk to us like that! I’m not surprised, your kind are known for every social vice-”
He was still talking when Rielke spoke, cutting him off.
“As you said, there was no need for this trial, but we wanted to give you a chance, and seeing your behavior, there really was no need for that. You’re an unrepentant traitor and we’ll pass your sentence now,” she said and chuckled.
“The Alpha will state your sentence,” she said as she glanced at Lucien with a smile and my heart began to ache again, this time, a hundred times worse.
