Chapter 75

“Agatha,” I said as I strode towards her, reaching out my arm quickly to hold her gently, but firmly to prevent her from falling.

I glanced around to see if there were any guards nearby, making a me ntal note to place more guards in this wing.

There was not a single guard in sight and I muttered a string of curses as I placed two fingers on her nose, to see if she was still breathing.

Her breath was slow but I knew she was alive. She looked pale and her eyes were sunken. She looked weak and emaciated. She looked severely dehydrated, her lips cracked and dry.

I gently scooped her up into my arms, cradling her securely against my chest. I walked briskly to the main building and when some of the guards saw me, they rushed to me and took her.

“Take her to the first guest room,” I ordered and then added. “And get the healer,” I added.

I walked briskly, following them to the room as I wondered why she looked malnourished.

Did Blood Creek begin to punish her because of Norman’s betrayal?

I took in her appearance and shook my head in pity, she looked like she had seen better days.

I held her hand as she was laid on the bed, I knew I couldn’t show any weakness as the Alpha, but I was in pain.

Agatha was a good adviser and one of the few good elders left in Silverpine, I just couldn’t stop blaming myself for what happened to her.

I knew that Amara meant well but I should’ve trusted her and done my own investigation, then she wouldn’t have been in this situation.

I remembered seven years ago when she had come to speak to me that I was making a big mistake by leaving my mate to go for Rielle. I had explained to her that I had no choice but to take Rielle as my mate, which would strengthen my seat and of course, the money. Archers were very rich and even now, we were

almost indebted to them.

I stood up immediately when the healer entered.

“Do everything you can for her. Don’t let her die,” I said firmly and she nodded.

I had felt her energy seeping away when I had held her in my arms and I began to silently pray to the goddess that I don’t lose her. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I did.

I was so engrossed in my thoughts that as the door swung open, I nearly jumped out of my skin.

Rielle entered and was about to say something when her eyes darted to hers and I saw a flicker of shock wash across her face as her eyes widened.

Just as quickly as the expression came, it disappeared, in its stead was an angry expression as her eyes blazed with fury.

“And who do we have here? A traitor!”

I didn’t say anything to her words and just kept quiet.

“Stop touching her!” She yelled and my head sh it upwards to look at her, my temper suddenly rising.

“Rielle-

“Why is she here? She’s a traitor and traitors belong in the cells!” She said, cutting me off.

“Rielle!,” I barked, making her turn to look at me.

The healer cleared her throat. “Please, she doesn’t need a noisy environment right

now-”

“Shut up!” Rielle yelled and I shook my head, wondering how long I was going to have to let this madness go on.

“Rielle,” I called out in a calm tone and she sighed.

“Don’t tell me you’ve been deceived by her and want to help her,” she said, shaking her head and I wanted to tell her that I couldn’t be easily deceived, else I’d have been deceived by her.

“No, Rielle.”

“Then what is it? She has to be in the cell right now, she’s probably faking whatever

it is this healer says she has,” she exclaimed and I shook my head.

“No, Lucien! You are too soft! That’s why you let Amara and Giselle use you! Can’t you see what’s going on right now!” She flung her arms, her nose flaring up.

The healer was looking at us and I stood up, shoving my hands deep into my pocket.

“So, what do you want me to do?” I demanded, my back turned to her as I stared at the healer with raised brows.

“Alpha-she-”

Rielle spun around to face her. “Go on, spew the lies you’ve cooked.”

“She will survive if she’s lucky,” she announced and Rielle scoffed.

“Oh, she will survive alright. She has to stand trial for her crimes,” Rielle said firmly, her eyes twi nkling with mischief.

I was just tired of her, I didn’t think I could continue anymore, she didn’t even have an ounce of pity for her, knowing that she was the cause of whatever happened to her.

“Lucien, here’s what I have to say,” she turned to me with a smile and I raised my

brow.

“She will help us replace the traitors, her son, and the Müller women. She will be thoroughly tortured if need be because this one is one tough old hag,” her eyes crinkled as she announced.

I had seen and heard evil but this Rielle’s own was on another level. She was the

human definition of evil.

I felt nothing but disgust and rage as I looked at her. I began to wonder how she could be this evil. And to think I was once attracted to her.

I clenched my fist to my sides, my jaw clenching, causing my teeth to ground together.

“No, nothing like that is going to happen,” I said in a calm tone.

I had lost too much because of her, I didn’t even know if Amara was still alive as the healer had said that she might die of heartache.

“What?” she questioned as our gaze met.

“We are not imprisoning anybody this time around, Rielle,” I said firmly, glaring at her daringly.

I really didn’t care about anything at the moment, I just wanted Agatha to open eyes and tell me everything she knew.
