Mala wasn’t the only one prowling around, Bella and half a dozen other she-wolves were all prowling around with her on the third floor. These were some of the Mate’s to her elite warriors, they were concerned about what was going down.

Charlie was standing watching her and she knew he had others downstairs ready to detain her, had seen his eyes glaze over many times.

They had sent back a simple reply to that email an hour after receiving it, in the hope that woman was sitting waiting on a response from her.

Renata

I would like that,

see you at 4pm.

The Luna, to the Hollowed Moon Pack.

It had been several hours now and she knew that Ben and his team were in position, all over the place, not just where they were expecting her to set herself up. But in several places along the route they were expecting her to take to get there, as well as two of the more obscure paths up the mountain.

They had already seen that the area itself they were expecting her to use, had been cleared out and swept down, ready for someone to use. Carmel had obviously been there and checked the vantage point, they were now just waiting for her arrival.

Though they had reports from the other two groups, which Ben had sent out, to check the other two locations, that one of them had been disturbed, but not cleared for use. There was no sign of anything at the third place. Ben was of the opinion that she was definitely going to be where he was.

Though just in case, both the other sites were now also being watched, they were going to be out there all day and possibly all night, just sitting and waiting for the inevitable.

Aston would be on his way back just two hours after the moon set. There would be no waiting until tomorrow. If their pack members paired up, it was going to have to be sorted out quickly. But that had gotten better over the last few years now.

She was certain that most of their wolves nowadays would accept a new Mate, they got to live here pain free without any abuse, without anyone shunning them or trying to hurt them emotionally either. They had learned that life inside a pack could be good and only those willing to attend mating balls were asked to go. No more council requirements were on them, due to the fact that they did hold mating balls themselves and willingly attended other packs balls.

Mala had learned herself over the last seven months, just how careful Aston was in choosing which invites to accept if they weren’t allied packs. That each invite to a mating ball was checked against the pack’s data base. She had seen herself now that there were quite a few on a black list, also noted that the Glimmering Moon Pack was on that list, likely because of her and Hudson’s past, his obsession with getting her back and the way that pack had shunned her when she was wolf-less. No one in that pack liked the wolf-less. There were a dozen others on that list for various reasons as well.

Though, on the bright side, she had not seen Hudson for the past 7 months, he had not bothered her or Aston since she and Suki had accepted Aston and allowed him to Mark them in front of him. He seemed to have gotten the message, that she belonged to another, which had been her intent that day.

A decision she and Suki were very happy with. Aston was very loving and attentive, and she did feel truly safe and loved for the first time in half of her life time. They had always liked it here, right from the day of arrival, as did many like herself, and now they never had to leave.

She looked at Charlie and sighed when he shook his head at her. She was getting impatient. It was only going to get worse, her impatience. She needed to take a breath and settle herself, or she was going to end up going out there herself. A big part of her wanted to deal with this she-wolf herself and another part of her knew that Aston would be mad about it, because it could get her injured and then there was the fact that they had Chance, to think about.

But she also knew if she wasn’t the Luna she would be out there right this minute leading that bloody hunting party. Being the Luna right at this minute was restricting her, because she knew that Aston didn’t want her anywhere near his ex-mate. As it could potentially leave him Mate-less as well. Not that Mala intended on losing any fight with that woman, that was not now or ever going to happen.

She sat herself with Bella and the others. They were all waiting all bloody afternoon, radio silence was all they were getting. That was until the sound of gun fire peeled through their valley. Her head whipped around, as did all of the women sitting there. Her eyes shot around the table to look at each of them. Four shoots peeled off after that first one and her heart was hammering as she looked at each of the pack members.

If one of their mates got shot and died, she would know instantly, would feel them get severed from the pack, but also their mate would feel it. She could see everyone was looking at everyone, a little bit of fear in all of them. As much as there was in her now, they were not only worried about themselves but their fellow pack members.

Mala stood and found wolves all around her. Charlie was already rapping out orders to contain her, as she handed Chance to Bella. “No, Luna.” He stated firmly “Stay put, just wait on Ben.”

Everything inside of her and Suki was itching to get out there and see what was happening, to make sure that everyone was alright. It took nearly fifteen minutes before Ben’s voice came down through the earpiece “We got her.”

“Alive?” Mala asked right back. “Is it Carmel?”

“Yes, it is, she is now cuffed with silver Mala.”

“Good, bring that b***h right to me.” She snapped and didn’t care where she was supposed to go, according to Aston, he wasn’t here. Which meant she was in charge. So that she-wolf was hers to deal with until he got back. She was happy that they had cuffed her with silver, knew that Carmel wasn’t going to like that. It also meant that Mala could punch her as hard as she liked and cause her real pain, pain that would linger without her wolf to heal her.

“Is anyone injured Ben?” she asked.

“Yes, we’ve got one with a gunshot wound, its no big deal though, just a flesh wound, is already being healed by his wolf a threw and threw.”

“I’ll have the pack doctor on standby anyway.” She stated, as she accepted Chance back from Bella, all of her she-wolves looked relieved, and so was she to be honest, she had not wanted to lose anyone today. It’s why she had wanted to go herself.

Mala put Chance in her crib and waited along with everyone else for their mates to return, watched as Ben hauled that woman through her pack and stopped about 12 feet from her, saw as another wolf put a foot right into the back of Carmel’s knee and it collapsed, and made her bow down in front of Mala.

Her eyes were locked on Mala, there was so much hate in them already. This woman really did hate her and all because she was Aston’s Mate. She could see it, and not just hate but anger. Mala stepped over to her and looked at her. She had long blonde hair and green eyes, was quite pretty, Mala realised, but her beauty was only skin deep.

“Did you know, Carmel, this is going to be war now? You have just signed the death warrant on your own pack.”

“Aston would never hurt his own family.” she spat “He is too weak to start a war.”

Mala hunkered down before her and grabbed that woman’s chin. “It’s not Aston who will do it. It will be me.” She nodded to Ben “and him.”

“You can’t do anything to me, Raymond will s*******r everyone.”

“Hmm, or with you dead. The curse dies with you and he’s finally free of you, as is Aston…and our child.”

Saw that woman’s eyes go wide with shock. “No, you can’t give him a child…it’s not possible.” She gasped.

Mala laughed softly “Oh but it is, you see Carmel. Aston loves, and I mean really loves Mate’ his Mate’s, would do anything for them, to keep them from his beast. We have an heir, will likely have many. The man is insatiable in that department.” smiled right at her “Can go all night, Goddess it’s good…poor you, chose wrong that day…but your loss, is this packs gain. He was never weak, nor is he gentle in defending this pack. And me, I am ruthless. You will see that.”

“What do you want us to do with her Luna?” Ben asked, addressing her formally for the first time ever.

Mala stood, “Well, she did kill our beloved Luna, Roberta. The pack, I feel, should get the chance to see who that was.” Turned and looked around “That tree over there should do, Ben. String her up, let’s see what the pack wants to do with her.”

Ben smiled and nodded, then just hauled Carmel up off the ground. “Good plan Luna. We can leave her there all night long.”

“Weeks.” Mala agreed and followed him, watched as Carmel was bound to the lowest branch, her feet just barley flat on the ground, she was able to stand, but barely so, her arms stretched up above her head. “Lets see if she survives the night.”

“Raymond will come with all we have.” Carmel shot at her.

Mala smiled. “Does he know you’re here? Know exactly what you came here to do and approve of it?”

Seeing Carmel glare right at her now, only made Mala smile even more. She didn’t think so, called her on it after a full minute of stony silence “I don’t think so, Carmel. You could be here quite a while. You see he’s met me before. I was younger, but am highly skilled and he knows it. Ben and I won that warrior challenge, he left. But not before he got to see me fight, Ben fight. Saw both our skills and I was aiming to get to him and take him down. After what you did to our Luna, the only thing that saved him that day, was him leaving.” Smiled at her after a moment “Oh, I believe that there was something I wanted to do.” Punched that woman right in the jaw, saw her scream in pain and tears well up “That’s for my lost Luna, I want to kill you. But I’m guessing eighty percent of this pack will want a piece of you. I’m going to let them.” Then she just turned and walked away.

“We’ll keep her under guard.”

“Yes, do that. Four at all times, I don’t want any interference. If the pack members wish to show their grief and hatred against this woman, they are permitted to hit, kick, spit, throw things at will at her, humiliation for now. Until Aston comes back to deal with her himself, and he will.”

“I’ll kill you.” She heard Carmel scream at her.

Mala stopped walking and turned to look at her. “Would you like to challenge me in a duel, to the death?” she smiled right at her.

“Luna!” it was a warning tone from Charlie.

She looked at Charlie with a smile on her face. “No Gamma, if she wants it. I won’t deny it. I will accept it gladly.” Looked right at Carmel. “Answer the question Carmel.”

Saw her just glaring right back at her, but didn’t say anything, walked back over to her “A fight, you’re wolf against mine? Or me against you? I’ll even let you keep the cuffs on, put some on myself, let’s actually see who the better fighter is. What say you, Carmel, a dual Luna to Luna, to the death!”

Saw Carmel’s jaw tighten and start ticking “What don’t you think you could win, without your long-range riffle, huh? Don’t you train? Or are you just a coward and not willing to fight?” got nothing from that woman, she just glared at her the whole time.

“You should have stayed away and left this pack alone, Carmel.” Mala turned and walked away. “Let me know if she changes her mind and the terms under which she wants that fight. I’ll gladly accommodate it.”
