The Returning EX (John and Sophia) -
Chapter 1763
Chapter 1763 Refusal
Aurora cut her off, "You got the wrong person, young lady. Whatever happens to your mother is none of our business. We did nothing to her, so there is no mercy to be shown."
Sally quickly explained, "No, no. That's not what I meant." She started jumbling up her words the moment she started to panic. Her plan was to get lan to talk to Bryce. Everyone knew that Leah came to cause a scene and got dumped on the streets, and it made things worse for the Morgans.
Bryce had gotten a lawyer to draft up a divorce agreement right after he got the news. To be honest, in their community, a divorce at Bryce's age would only impact his reputation more. The Morgans would have preferred not to add more to their already full plate, but Bryce was adamant about chasing Leah out.
Back then, Leah concocted a lot of schemes so she could marry Bryce, but they had a prenup signed. That was the reason why Leah was so obedient to him all these years. She was aiming for his inheritance after he died, but if she was divorced before that, she would get nothing.
Bryce was rich and powerful. Even if they were to go to court, Leah's chances of winning were slim to none.
Sally wouldn't fully take her mother's side, since Bryce was her father after all. However, it was obvious who held all the cards in the relationship, and she pitied her mother, naturally. She started talking, but before she could even finish a sentence, tears started flowing.
lan watched her in amusement. He used to spend more time with Sally-something he hated-and he knew she was an arrogant girl because her mother spoiled her. She wouldn't even cry when Bryce scolded her. She only apologized, but she didn't mean it. Whenever Bryce wasn't looking, she would glare at him, apparently never learning her lesson. That was why lan thought it was amusing she started crying before she even talked. Ah, money. The most useful weapon in a relationship.
Sally knew she was losing composure, so she wiped her tears away quickly. "My mother isn't in a great state right now. Dad locked her up and abused her. I'm worried about her. Dad really wants to teach her a hard lesson this time. You're on great terms with Dad, so please, talk to him. I know he'll listen to you."
Then you're overestimating me. Ian snorted. "Why do you assume I'm on great terms with him? Instead of wasting your time here, you should go to the hospital and beg your father to show some mercy."
Sally had tried that, but because she had gone to lan's place with Leah, that pushed her into Bryce's bad books along with her mother. Bryce did not want to see her at all, and she couldn't get any news from him. However, her mother did ask someone to investigate.
They heard that Bryce made changes to the will again. She and Simon barely gained anything, but lan-whom Bryce never liked that much-became the one who stood to gain the most, barring Sean. Bryce loved Sean the most, so it was normal he got the lion's share of the inheritance. However, it was a surprise that lan came second, and Sally could only think of one reason for that. He must be on better terms with Bryce now.
They didn't know about the contents of the previous will either, but lan shouldn't have gotten much. However, the recent changes showed that lan was quickly becoming one of Bryce's favorites.
Leah did take them to the company and demanded Sean to give them an explanation a while ago, but Sean had punished them quickly. Hence, Sally didn't dare ask Sean for help, and that made lan her last resort. Left with no choice, she had come to see him.
lan looked calm, but he was disgusted by Sally's actions, and he chuckled. "I will not talk to the old man, so give up. I'm impressed you actually came to ask for my help. Did you guys forget what you did to me? Do I look like a pushover to you, Sally?"
Cindy felt heartbroken the moment she heard him mentioning his past.
