Chapter 1785 For the Last Time

As the doctor spoke, Ion wos there os well, so he heord everything. However, he didn't soy onything ot the time. He just woited for the doctor to leove before wolking up to Seon ond giving the lotter o pot on the bock. "It's up to you. Anything you do will be for the best."

Seon turned to look ot Bryce, who wos lying on the bed. Only o few doys hod possed, but Bryce hod gotten much skinnier. During this period, Bryce wos rorely owoke, for he wos unconscious most of the time. The doctor soid thot if Bryce were to be kept olive with drips, he would still be unconscious, so he would definitely be different from o normol person.

If things turned out thot woy, it wos unnecessory for Bryce to endure oll the poin. Seon would still hesitote when he thought obout this before, but right now, ot this point, he didn't think for too long.

About holf on hour loter, Seon went to the doctors ond told them he hod decided to give up on the treatment. The doctors were understonding os well. They hod been keeping on eye on Bryce's condition, ofter oll.

To be honest, the doctors couldn't give the fomily cleor directions on whot to do with the potient becouse of their positions os doctors. However, they oll felt thot it wos unnecessory to continue Bryce's treatment.

The money for the treatment would go to woste, ond the potient himself wouldn't feel ony better. Most fomilies who insisted on continuing treotment were just trying to replace comfort in the thought.

As the doctor spoke, lan was there as well, so he heard everything. However, he didn't say anything at the time. He just waited for the doctor to leave before walking up to Sean and giving the latter a pat on the back. "It's up to you. Anything you do will be for the best."

Sean turned to look at Bryce, who was lying on the bed. Only a few days had passed, but Bryce had gotten much skinnier. During this period, Bryce was rarely awake, for he was unconscious most of the time. The doctor said that if Bryce were to be kept alive with drips, he would still be unconscious, so he would definitely be different from a normal person.

If things turned out that way, it was unnecessary for Bryce to endure all the pain. Sean would still hesitate when he thought about this before, but right now, at this point, he didn't think for too long.

About half an hour later, Sean went to the doctors and told them he had decided to give up on the treatment. The doctors were understanding as well. They had been keeping an eye on Bryce's condition, after all.

To be honest, the doctors couldn't give the family clear directions on what to do with the patient because of their positions as doctors. However, they all felt that it was unnecessary to continue Bryce's treatment.

The money for the treatment would go to waste, and the patient himself wouldn't feel any better. Most families who insisted on continuing treatment were just trying to replace comfort in the thought.

The decision was made, and the agreements were signed. The ventilator was about to be removed from Bryce when lan thought for a while and said, "Let's notify the other two, just in case. I'm sure they'd want to be here."

No matter what happened between them in private, Sally and Simon were still Bryce's biological children. They had the right to see Bryce one last time.

Sean wasn't too bothered about the issue. It wouldn't affect the big picture of whether they saw Bryce for the last time. Hence, he nodded. "Sure, I'll ring them up."

Cindy walked up to the bed and lowered her gaze as she looked at Bryce. It was that feeling again. She thought she was looking at her own father.

Back then, Anthony was lying on the sickbed as well, catching his last breaths. However, he had suffered plenty before leaving, unlike Bryce, who was wrought with a sudden illness.

Unlike Sean right now, Cindy had tried everything she could to save her father. Anthony had cancer, and it had spread too much by the time they discovered it.

Cindy didn't understand much then. She just didn't want to lose her father, and she cried every day for her father to get better. However, most doctors would be helpless in the face of such illnesses.

Anthony suffered on his sickbed for almost ten months before he was set free. Cindy couldn't judge her own actions back then, but now, with her current knowledge and mindset, she would probably choose to give up as well.

At least the patient could leave in peace and wouldn't have to suffer so much. Cindy was a little downcast as she bit her lip, her eyes reddening. Aurora also walked over and looked at Bryce, then sighed.

She spent half her life hating this man and wishing death upon him. She had thought about how she would react when Bryce finally died, and she thought that she would sing happy songs.

She thought that she would laugh and be free from her burdens. However, when she was really faced with this situation, she felt only disappointment. This man was really going to die, but she couldn't feel the least bit happy about it.

Simon and Sally only arrived at the hospital twenty minutes later. Simon could still keep his calm as he put on a cold expression, but Sally burst into tears as soon as she walked in.

She stood by the bed and reached out to touch Bryce, but the machines connected to the man prevented her from doing so.

Simon stood at the foot of the bed and stared at Bryce's face. He seemed frailer compared to last time, and his eyes were pallid under his messy hair.

He must have been in too much of a hurry when he left the house, for his shirt wasn't even buttoned in the right places.

Sally wiped her tears as she called out, "Dad, can you hear me? Dad, wake up, please."
