Chapter 1907 See Through Him

The man kept talking until the food was served, but even then, he ignored it and went on talking.

When he finally stopped, Cindy said, "You should eat. We can talk after that."

The man sighed and picked his cutlery up. However, his past was affecting his appetite, so he only had a few bites before putting his spoon down.

Cindy looked calm. She couldn't really sympathize with the man. After all, everyone had their own version of the same story. Without Aurora to prove the truth, she wouldn't believe a word about the man's story

The man hesitated for a while, then he said, "My family had some problems back then. When my daughter gave birth, there were some complications, so I had to go to the hospital often. That's why I missed out on a lot of stuff. I only found out about her news online after I settled my family business."

He was trying to say that he didn't see Aurora during her lowest because he had a reason. However, now, he was willing to stand by her again.

"I see," Cindy answered calmly. She didn't believe it. If he truly cared about Aurora, he would have tried to contact her no matter what. It was the Information Era, and everyone would go online if they had time. Even if they didn't, they would get push notifications on their phones to tell them about the latest news. I don't buy it. He must know something at the very least.

The man kept talking about his challenges, and how the whole family had to work nonstop for months because of his grandkid's hearing disability.

Sob stories wouldn't work on Cindy though. It was one matter if she found out about it herself, but if the 'victim' was crying about it right in front of her, she would doubt the authenticity of the story.

The talk lasted for more than one hour. More precisely, the man kept complaining for more than an hour. Cindy would give a response occasionally to show that she was listening.

After he was done with dinner, he sighed. "I know I shouldn't be telling you all of this, but I needed to vent. I didn't know who I could trust."

Cindy pursed her lips. "Have you told Aurora about this?"

The man shook his head. "I don't want her to replace out. She might get worried too."

No she won't. Cindy was amused. Aurora has no reason to be worried at all. This guy probably knows that Aurora is smart enough to see through his lies if he told her. He thinks I'm young and dumb enough to be deceived, and that's why he wanted to talk. He wants me to trust him and convince Aurora to get back together with him. Typical liar.

The man went to pay the bill, and they came out of the restaurant. The man was about to hail a ride back, and Cindy looked at him. "How long are you staying?"

The man paused for a moment. He didn't think about that before he came. His plan was to first convince Aurora to get back with him, then he would end the operation.

Cindy smirked. "Hotels are going to cost a lot. If you keep this up for too long, you'll run out of money."

The man heaved a sigh. "I'll see how this goes."

Cindy wouldn't persuade him anymore. I gave you a hint, but if you're still going to be stubborn about it, then suit yourself. After the man left, Cindy went back to her neighborhood. Ian's work was holding him back for a long time that night. Cindy had already played a few matches of mobile phone games, but lan was still not back yet. Bored, she put her phone down and went to take a shower.
