The Returning EX (John and Sophia) -
Chapter 2034
Chapter 2034 Ran Away
Naturally, Leah wasn't about to let Sean go so easily-she previously made her way to Morgan Group in her wheelchair just to pick a fight. She was no longer the prim and proper Mrs. Morgan that others once knew, but a person who threw tantrums whenever she wanted to. Perhaps she was able to release herself and do whatever she wanted since she had already revealed her flaws to everyone.
"I can't seem to contact Simon, by the way. I don't know if he ran away from this place," Sean added on the call.
"He ran away? Is he running away from something?" lan was surprised to hear this.
Sean let out an exasperated chuckle. "He borrowed money from loan sharks, and he doesn't have enough to return it to them. I heard that they've confronted him twice, and he seemed to have disappeared after that."
Simon was too used to the life of a rich man's son. Since Bryce hadn't left much of an inheritance for Simon, Simon had to start saving up. Leah didn't give him a lot of money either. In the end, Simon couldn't stop himself from spending. He didn't want to live a thrifty and meager life, so he decided to borrow money from the loan sharks.
Simon had probably assumed that Leah would extort money from Sean, and then he would be able to repay his debts. However, since Leah had broken her leg, Simon knew that he no longer stood a chance with those loan sharks. So, he decided to run off instead.
lan was completely speechless after hearing Sean's explanation. Since Bryce's passing, the three of them had gone their own ways. Sally was doing a little better as she had left to chase after her own goals. She was a little more independent. Leah and Simon's lives, meanwhile, seemed like it was going downhill. I wonder if this is what karma looks like, lan thought.
Sean questioned lan in a playful manner, "Leah doesn't know about your engagement party here, right?"
lan thought about it. "I don't think so. I didn't spread the news to others, but she has always been quick with her sources, so I'm not sure if she'll replace out about it."
Sean smiled. "Why don't you prepare yourself a little? If she replaces out about it, she's certainly going to go over in her wheelchair to cause a scene. You know how shameless she is now, so I wouldn't put anything past her. Your reputation is at stake here-her actions could easily get you to trend online."
lan let out a long sigh on the other end of the call. He didn't know what to do. Fame was a double-sided knife-he could use it to his own benefit as much as people could use it to ruin him. "Okay," lan uttered after hesitating for a while. "I'll get Logan to prepare some men to watch the door tomorrow." It'd be easy for the men to spot Leah in a wheelchair, and it'd be easy to throw her out.
Both of them chatted for a while longer before Sean excused himself and ended the call. After that, lan went to stand by the window before he reached into his pocket and pulled out a packet of cigarettes.
lan hadn't smoked in a while. It was necessary for artists to maintain their appearances, especially since he was someone who often popped up on the trending search. Hannah often reminded him not to smoke or drink in public, as they never knew if the paparazzi were around. Even if it was a small matter, it wouldn't be good if the paparazzi found out.
Previously, lan had gotten off cigarettes, but he felt the urge to smoke them now that he was alone. He pulled a stick out of his cigarette box and lit it up. He had hidden this box in his drawer for a long time, but he realized that it had turned back after only a few puffs.
So, lan put the cigarette out before turning to look at the bedroom door. He wondered if he would eventually quit cigarettes now that he was barely allowed to smoke.
Cindy slept all the way till evening, and the skies were starting to get dark when she woke up. She had a good sleep, but she still felt somewhat exhausted even after waking up. She didn't feel too well, so she lay in bed for a long time before getting up.
lan wasn't in the room, and the bedroom door was open to show the quiet and empty living hall outside. Cindy shouted twice for lan, and as expected, no one responded to her. She let out a sigh before resting her back against the headboard. She didn't get off the bed immediately, but pulled her phone out instead.
