The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1167

Blake spent nearly twenty minutes feeding Liam the bowl of soup. After that, she fed him medicine which contained sedatives. Liam, lying in bed, reached out to hold her hand. “Can you stay with me? Don’t leave.”

Blake was slightly stunned. She smiled. “Sure. Let’s talk about everything else after you feel better.”

She sat beside Liam. When she noticed him falling asleep, she glanced at her nearly dead phone before slowly withdrawing her hand. Liam seemed to feel it and woke up restlessly. Blake had not expected taking care of a sick person to be so tiring. She helplessly lay down on the bedside and took a nap.

The rain gradually eased up. After sleeping for some time, Blake shrugged her shoulders as she felt a little cold. Suddenly, she heard faint footsteps.

The lids of her closed eyes moved. When she opened her eyes, she saw a figure in the dark leaving the ward.

She said, “Kevin, is that you?”

Blake did not get a response. She quickly removed Liam’s hand which was holding hers and immediately chased after the person. She then embraced his waist from behind, and the corridor’s motion sensor lights lit up. Outside, the streetlights were switched on and drizzling. A breeze swept through the area.

She said, “I sent you so many messages, why didn’t you reply to any of them?”

Kevin responded, “Let go of me.”

Blake replied, “Explain yourself to me, or I won’t let go.”

With light footsteps, Kevin grabbed Blake’s hand and pulled her back into the ward.

Blake felt for the switch on the wall and turned on the light. She knew Kevin was cautious, so she said, “Come with me.” She then led him to the adjacent caretaker’s room. She found his hand was ice-cold when she was holding his hand.

She hurriedly said, “Wait, I’ll pour you a cup of hot water.”

Blake poured a hot cup of water, placed it in his palm, and held the back of his hand. “Wait a moment, and your hand will warm up.”

They sat at the end of the bed. Blake looked into his eyes. Despite their physical proximity, she felt he was withdrawn and closed off, not revealing any of his thoughts or emotions.

She said, “Do you still have work to do later? It’s so late. How about you rest here? Are you hungry? Do you want me to go buy something for you to eat?”

As she was speaking, Kevin took out a small dagger and placed it in front of her. “Use this to protect yourself when necessary.”

Blake asked, “What do you mean?” She had a bad feeling. She continued saying, “Kevin, what are you going to do? Our society is governed by law. Who still carries this around? Besides, if I’m in danger, you’ll be there to save me, right?”

Kevin narrowed his cold eyes. “Mr. Jardin is still unconscious; there are things I need to take care of.”

Blake knew she could not stop him. “I don’t know what you’re going to do, but rest assured, I won’t cause you any more trouble this time.”

She understood that if Kevin left this time, they might never meet again.

She caressed his face. “Can we go back to how we used to be once Mr. Jardin wakes up? I want to continue being your assistant. Just like before, you keep replaceing fault with me, and I’ll always stay by your side causing trouble for you.”

Kevin could not give her an answer.

He squinted. “Liam is more suitable for you.”

He thought, ‘I’ve never seen such a stubborn person as Blake.’

This time, the situation was troublesome, and even Kevin did not know if he would come out of this alive.
