The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1193

At that moment, Kevin and Blake remembered the soup in the kitchen. Kevin, still naked, carried Blake in a deep embrace, eliciting a startled moan from her as they made their way to the kitchen. The soup in the pot had boiled over when they turned it off, creating a mess.

After their final round, Blake lay in bed for about an hour before waking up. They went downstairs for dinner. She took him to a steakhouse in a mall across their neighborhood. A hearty and comforting meal was perfect for this winter season. The food was still steaming hot when served.

“I’ve already talked to my aunt about us. She wants to meet you. When will you come with me to see her? She’ll definitely like you because you’re tall and handsome. But you have to be nice to me in front of her.”

Since Kevin had injuries, he could not eat fatty food, so Blake ordered some light and comforting dishes. Not knowing his preferences, she avoided ordering foods she disliked and opted for more standard meats and vegetables.

Blake was used to Kevin’s silence and kept talking, interpreting his silence as tacit agreement.

“I’ve never eaten these before,” Kevin said.

Blake was surprised. “How? These are common foods. You can replace steakhouses anywhere.”

Kevin was silent, lost in thought. He broke the silence and said, “In my memory, such foods were a luxury. Where I lived, it was a dark, damp basement with nothing but rats running from the sewers…”

In Kevin’s memory, there were remnants of corpses and dying people. For him, having enough to eat was a struggle. If it had not been for Zach, he might never have left that place and never had everything he has now. And he certainly would not have met Blake.

In Kevin’s eyes, Blake was wonderful. She was cheerful, kind, lively, and had an unyielding spirit, like a sun-seeking flower blooming even in the darkest cracks. Kevin felt very lucky to have met her. But her smile always reminded him of his painful past.

Many people flattered Kevin for his position as Zach’s assistant. This was why he always thought Blake and Liam were better suited. Kevin worried that when Blake found out about his past, she would stop smiling at him.

He thought, ‘It is all an illusion. Like a bubble, waiting to burst. Once it does, everything will return to reality, and Blake will avoid me.’

Caught off guard by Kevin’s response, Blake suddenly smiled again. She said, ” Let’s not talk about this. If you don’t want to go, we won’t. Let’s just enjoy our meal.”

There was a flicker of an indefinable emotion in Blake’s eyes as she lowered her head.
