The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 571

The procedure took four hours. By the following day, the two’s conditions had already stabilized. By the time Ethan woke up, it was already bright out. Leyton stood by his bed and informed him of Robin’s condition.

“The kid’s out of the woods now. He got an early diagnosis and will recover in three months post-transplant. There’s no need to worry, Mr. Arnold.”

Ethan fell into deep thought.

‘Three months… That’s when Madelyn comes back.” Ethan coughed. When Leyton saw Ethan about to get off the bed, he immediately stopped him. He said, “You can’t get off the bed yet, Mr. Arnold. You’ll need 10 days to recover.

“Madelyn… She… Did she call?” At the thought of Madelyn, he felt the eagerness to see her and also the fear of not knowing how to explain the situation to her. The matter about the child was like a ticking time bomb.

Leyton pursed his lips and hesitated before speaking, “Ms. Jent did call an hour before you came out of surgery. I explained that you’ve been handling some important affairs in the company. Focus on your recovery, Mr. Arnold. Ms. Jent is an understanding person. Even if she does learn about the situation, she’ll understand why you made such a decision. That’s why you don’t have to worry. Once you get custody of the child, you and Ms. Jent will go back to the way things were.”

Ethan looked a little pale after the procedure. His messy hair fell over his dark eyes. He fell into deep thought once more, ‘I wonder if I made the right choice hiding this from Madelyn.’

By the time Leyton finished talking, Donna had already arrived at the door and heard half of their conversation. She dropped the dark expression on her face and walked into the room with a flask.

“I heard you woke up. Thank you for what you did for Robin. And the medical expenses… I’ll slowly pay you back. I made some chicken soup. The doctor said it’s good for you.”

Donna set the flask down as she spoke. Then, she threw him a glance and left without another word.

“She’s changed.”

Donna used to be arrogant and bossy, not afraid of anyone. Donna grew up in the slums. Back then, it was a dangerous place where gangsters and hooligans were common. Not only did Donna dare to walk the streets alone at night, but she also even dared to fight a gang of hooligans on her own. She never admitted defeat, even if she had lost a fight. The current Donna was much more toned down.

“Not only has Ms. Jolie changed, but so have you. Back then, Mrs. Arnold Sr. was worried about your condition. You’d lock yourself up in your room and refuse to come out. If it weren’t for Ms. Jent, you might still be stuck in the past.”

Ethan could not help but smile at the thought of Madelyn. “You’re right. If it weren’t for her, I might not have made it till today.”

He turned to Leyton and continued, ” Proceed with the discharging procedures and return to the Arnold residence.”

“But sir, you just got out of surgery…” Ethan cut him off, “Do as I said.”

“Yes,” Leyton nodded reluctantly. ‘Mr. Arnold is probably reluctant to stay in the hospital because of Donna. He has Ms. Jent now, so it is a little inappropriate for the two to meet,’ he thought. After Leyton got Ethan discharged, he wheeled Ethan out of the hospital.

Meanwhile, a bodyguard entered Robin’s ward. A burly-looking man warned Donna, “The boss said the Arnold family will hire someone to take care of him once he wakes up. Ms. Jolie, you’d better leave on your own in an hour. If you don’t leave by then, we’ll personally escort you out.”

After the bodyguard left, Donna smashed the soup bowl in her hand at the door. She glared ferociously at the car outside the window as it drove off.

“Don’t think you’ll get away unscathed by leaving this way. I’m telling you; we’ll never ever be over.”
