The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 745
After lunch, Kevin came over with some paperwork to sign, and they headed to the study to discuss the business. Not long after, Zach thought it would be a great opportunity to teach Madelyn to drive.
He was all in on the driving lesson. He had transformed a storage space in their home into a garage filled with luxury cars. A standout was the custom pink Bentley, distinctly different from the others.
“Zach, I can’t practice driving today,” Madelyn explained. “I’ve got a new order at the studio I need to finish. How about we reschedule?”
“Can you spare two hours?” Zach asked, not ready to give up. Once they got into the car, he gestured for her to take the driver’s seat. With a hesitant grip on the steering wheel, Madelyn asked, “Shouldn’t I start with the basics? I’ve never driven before.”
“Don’t worry, the basics will be a breeze for you.” Zach assured her.” Let’s get straight to hands-on practice.
In the car, Zach explained the essential features, and Madelyn caught on immediately. As she tried to back out of the garage, she pressed the gas pedal too hard and bumped into the Rolls- Royce Zach often used. A loud crash followed, and they both lurched forward, not having fastened their seatbelts. Just as her forehead was about to hit the steering wheel, Zach’s hand protected her. “Ease into the gas, ” he said. “No need to hurry.”
Madelyn looked deeply remorseful. ” I’m so sorry. I damaged your car,” she whispered. She could not afford the repairs. Seeing her concern, Zach’s expression grew stern. “Keep driving,” he said.
In her past life, Madelyn never needed to drive. She always had chauffeurs and bodyguards when she went out. Zach would not let her leave without his permission. She thought about getting a driver’s license once, but other things got in the way.
It took Madelyn a whole twenty minutes to cover just half a mile, bumping into multiple cars along the way. Her “sorrys” got softer after each blunder.
Feeling the strain, Zach said, “Don’t worry about it. Just keep driving.” He wasn’t concerned about the cars, but he was definitely getting irked. ‘She remembers everything I taught her in her studies. She’s a sharp student. Why can’t she get the hang of driving?”
What was supposed to be a two-hour practice session stretched into more than three, all within the confines of their expensive estate. Zach’s annoyed expression made Madelyn uneasy. To cap it off, she spent an additional half hour just trying to park the banged-up car. Repairing the scuffs and dents would be costly.
“Zach!” she yelled as he started to walk away. He halted but didn’t turn around. “Maybe learning to drive isn’t for me right now. You’ve already got a lot going on; you don’t need to stress over me.” She caught up to him and handed him the car keys. “I’m sorry for messing up the car. I’m going inside to sort myself out.”
