The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 772
“Can you help him? I’ll do anything,” she said.
Lana searched everywhere for a treatment for Andrew, but no hospital could diagnose his condition. Surprisingly, Kai, better known for his playful nature, was highly respected in the medical community. Most doctors recommended her to consult him. She eventually found a hospital that tried to help Andrew, but his condition worsened. Having no other option, Lana came back home.
Kai headed to the parking garage. As he got into his car, Lana quickly slid into the passenger seat. Kai said, “Get out.”
Lana replied, “Not until you agree.”
She thought she was being straightforward and assertive, but Kai assumed she was trying to seduce him.
“Are you that eager to get intimate with me?”
Lana shot him a sharp look. “If it weren’t for Andrew, I’d never even go near you.” Their relationship had been a mistake from the very beginning.
Kai smirked, unfazed. He started the car and drove out of the parking garage. As the city disappeared in the distance, Lana became more and more anxious. They reached a cliff with a stunning view of Ventropolis, surrounded by endless mountains. It was a scene Lana had never experienced. After parking, Kai reclined his seat and dozed off.
Lana nudged him. “Kai, wake up! Andrew’s in bad shape, and he’s your brother. How can you be so indifferent? Do you want to see him suffer?”
Kai’s eyes, bloodshot from exhaustion, opened wide. Realizing he had unbuckled his seatbelt, he suddenly moved, pinning Lana beneath him.
“Andrew’s going to be fine. I’m not in the mood now, so give me some space,” he murmured.
Lana pushed against him. “What’s going on? Give me some room.” “This is on you, Lana,” he said, sounding drained. He leaned in, his head close to her neck, inhaling the subtle scent of her perfume.
“Come on, get up. Don’t lean on me. Kai slid her car seat back, making a bit more space. Lana tried to replace a comfortable spot, but it was a tight fit.
“I’m a little cramped here. Can you move over?” she pleaded. After a few moments, Kai’s steady breathing told Lana he was asleep. Suddenly, Kai’s phone rang loudly. He blinked awake and quickly grabbed it.
Lana, startled, tried to sit up, but Kai’s arm kept her steady. He glanced at her before answering, “Hello, Agustin?”
“You were at Portsmouth Fishing Village yesterday, right?” Agustin asked. Kai focused on Lana, his expression turning serious. “Yes, I was.”
“There’s been some news. She’s… she’s gone. Was that your doing?”
