The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 779

Kai replied, “Forty years ago, Willowbrookshire was where Marisburg stands today. There’s a place there called the Forsaken Garden. All those people who died in vain are buried there.”

“H-He’s there too?” Madelyn asked. Kai knew who Madelyn meant. He answered, “After Erick Blinken died, Ms. Wood made his tombstone all by herself. Regardless of whether you believe me or not, you’ll know the truth once you arrive at Marisburg. I know that no matter what I do now, I can’t undo the damage I’ve caused you. I will give you my life if you want it now. You don’t even have to do it yourself.”

This was Kai’s punishment for himself, to punish himself for foolishly torturing her for so many years.

“For now, it’s best you stay by Zach’s side while I investigate some matters. He won’t hurt you now. Right now, while there are still unknown dangers lurking, only Zach can protect you,” Kai continued.

Despite their family’s relationship, Madelyn would never call him her brother. When they finished her check- up, an hour had already passed. Madelyn walked out of the examination room.

Before she left, Kai pleaded, “I beg of you, stay at the hospital and keep receiving treatment. Please give me a chance to redeem myself, Madelyn. From now on, no matter what you want to do, I’ll help you unconditionally.”

He also added, “Be wary of Cecilia!!”

Zach saw Madelyn walk out in a daze. He immediately gave Dalton to a nurse and walked over to her. He then draped a jacket over her.

“What’s wrong? Why are you so pale? Are you feeling sick?” Zach asked. Madelyn regained her senses when she heard Zach’s voice. Her beautiful eyes stared at Zach. Kai’s words still rang in her ears, “Only Zach can protect you.”

Madelyn replied, “I’m fine.”

“Oh no, oh no…” Someone cried out.

“Dr. Stewart, the patient in ward 1803, has suddenly stopped breathing,” A nurse told Kai hurriedly as he was clearing out his equipment. Kai immediately put down what he was doing to leave the examination room, but first he stopped and stared at Madelyn intensely, as if to say no one else besides her could know of their previous conversation. He then left through the elevator.

After fifteen minutes, Hayson was declared dead while lying on the hospital bed. Madelyn was also in the sick ward, with Zach accompanying her. She stood by the bed staring at the body that had stopped breathing, until a nurse covered it with a white cloth.

Madelyn did not shed a tear. She thought, ‘Hayson’s dead. He’s really dead.’

Up until the moment he died, Hayson had never known that Madelyn was not her biological daughter. He had no one by his side when he died. This was his retribution. Yet, this was nothing compared to all the people who had died in vain by his hand.

Madelyn wondered if Hayson ever predicted that he would end up like this after killing so many innocent souls in the past.

His body was still warm as he was pushed into the crematorium underground. During the forty-minute cremation, Madelyn sat on the chair and just spaced out. Everything that had happened recently was just so sudden and overwhelming.
