The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 802
Madelyn repeated, “Thank you.” As Madelyn approached, the bodyguard who had been blocking Mya stepped aside. Mya eagerly embraced Madelyn, causing her to stagger. She pressed her face against Madelyn’s shoulder, sobbing loudly.
“You were gone for so long, and you didn’t even contact me. Did you know I almost died?” Mya asked, her voice serious.
Madelyn’s gaze landed on the dark bruises on Mya’s neck and back. Blake had filled her in. “I’m so sorry, Mya,” Madelyn whispered, her voice laden with regret. “I wish I’d been here sooner.”
Mya shook her head gently, “You’re here now, and that’s what matters. Plus, you brought gifts. I’ve forgiven you.”
“Promise me you’ll be careful. Don’t let anyone hurt you.”
“I promise. With you here, I feel protected.”
The Harper family sponsored Luke for school because he did not have much money. When Mya ran into him at Ventropolis University, it was by accident. In college, when bullies picked on Luke, Mya defended him. From then on, Luke cared a lot about her. Seeing this, Mya’s father, Simon, thought they would be great together and tried to set them up. At first, Mya was not sure. But when her father needed a kidney, Luke quickly offered one of his. Touched by his kindness, Mya started dating him. But as they spent more time together, things began to change.
Over time, Luke’s desires grew. He and many of his relatives moved into Mya’s home, slowly taking over. While it first seemed harmless, they soon stopped pulling their weight, acting as though all the Harper family had was rightfully theirs.
Luke’s relatives, the Grahams, quickly took control of the mansion. With Simon hospitalized, Luke confined Mya to the storage room, using Simon’s health to manipulate her. Luke teamed up with some hospital staff, threatening Mya that if she did not obey, Simon would not get his medicine. The Grahams swiftly settled in. An elderly Graham couple moved into Simon’s master bedroom while Mya’s belongings were sold off. Without working and only profiting from the Harpers’ belongings, the Grahams acted like the mansion was theirs. But, as the saying goes, wrongfully taken things never last.
Police officers walked by, escorting several handcuffed Grahams.
“I didn’t steal anything; it was all mine! one man claimed.
“Why are you arresting me? Let me go! a woman shouted. “You said we’d have a good life, Luke. Look at us now!” another Graham yelled.
“Dad… Mom…” A young girl and a little boy from the Graham family followed, tears streaming down their faces.
