KAT

I watch the door that Blake and Alice go through. I couldn’t help but close my eyes; I was completely heartbroken.

I miss my mate; I miss Todd. I can feel a tear slide down my cheeks.

I try to calm down by controlling my breathing. I wipe my tears away with the back of my hand and turn around to look at the children.

Archer looked at me with sad eyes; he is one sweet boy. Todd and I agreed to take him on; he would be our second chance at having another child.

Allie looks at me, but there is something up with her. Grace, my panther, can sense a force within her that was trying to escape. Blake probably never left Allie alone with Izzy when they went to see her; he must have always been with her.

Something told me I needed to get Allie to Izzy fast.

Allie stares at me. “I want mummy,” she says quietly. I was about to say something to her, but she stopped me. “I can help mummy; I know I can,” she said, looking at me. A tear slides down her little face.

My heart might be breaking, but I must get my niece back. I can’t lose another person. I can’t lose her too.

“I know,” I say to her and walk over to the side of the bed.

Allie watches my every move, and so does Archer. I sit next to Allie on the bed and place my hands on both her hands, gently squeezing them. Archer climbs onto the bed and sits next to Allie.

“I believe you, Allie,” I tell her as I feel Grace come closer.

“I think you can help mummy,” I say to her. I glance between both kids. “Shall we see her now?”

Both of them say nothing but nod.

“We have to be quiet and make sure no one sees us,” I say to them, placing my finger to my lips.

Both kids place their fingers on their lips, copying me to let me know they will be quiet. I quickly get up and walk over to the door. I open the door ajar and look both ways. I need to make sure no one catches us.

Once I checked, no one was there, I looked over my shoulder and waved the kids to follow me. We left the room, but I had no clue where Izzy was.

“I know where mummy is,” says Allie quietly.

Allie walks while Archer wraps his hand in my hand as we follow Allie down the corridor. We only walk a few steps and turn a slight corner. Allie stops in front of the door and looks up at me. “She’s in there,” she says, looking up at me.

The door was too heavy for her to move. I pulled the handle down, and we walked into the room.

Once inside, I couldn’t help but feel my heartbreak at the sight before me. Izzy was hooked up to wires, and machines were darted around the room. No wonder Blake didn’t want Allie in here. It was scary for an adult, let alone a child.

Allie walks over to the bed while I follow her.

Allie stares at Izzy briefly, but she turns to Archer and me. “You need to go back against the wall,” she says quietly, pointing to the wall opposite her.

I sigh and do as she says. I don’t know why I’m listening to a four-year-old, but Grace thinks this is right. We both are heartbroken for our soulmate, but we must make sure Izzy and Puna return to us.

“I can’t feel them,” says Grace with a whimper. “They are not there in her body.”

I can feel my heartbreak again, but the little hand that has not left mine gives me a gentle squeeze. I look down at Archer, who stares up at me. “She’ll be okay,” he says. He moves his hand from mine and steps in front of me.

I can’t help the slight warmth that sweeps in; this kid wants to protect me. I place my hands on his shoulders as we watch what Allie will do next.

Allie walks over to the bed and climbs up on the bed. She kneels and crawls until she is close to Izzy’s stomach; she places her hand on her stomach and closes her eyes. I watch as she doesn’t move for a few moments.

“Do you think this is going to work?” I say to Grace.

“Watch,” she says as she stares out of my eyes.

Suddenly there was a slight change in the air as I watched Allie. Her hands glow gold, and her eyes fly open to reveal they are gold.

What the hell?

The light from Allie’s hands gets brighter, but she moves further up the bed, still on Izzy’s body, until she is closer to Izzy’s head. Allie leaned over and whispered to her, which was not that loud, but I caught it. “Wake up, mummy, please come back to me,” she says, kissing her cheek. She moves back, and the bright gold light shimmers away but causes Allie to sit beside Izzy.

Archer moves towards the bed, and I follow till we get close to Allie.

Allie looks up at me. “She’s waking up,” she says. I glance back up to look at Izzy; the machines connected to her come to life. They beep faster and louder.

Alice should have been here with me to see this, but I knew she kept away from her mate to look after me. I would never come between mates, especially my daughter’s happiness.

There was a slight movement, which made my eyes focus on Izzy’s face.

Suddenly, her eyes shoot open, and she darts up in bed, which makes Archer and I jump slightly. But Allie sits on the bed, not flinching at the movement. Her eyes stay on Izzy the whole time.

I stare back at her, and Izzy looks around, trying to process what happened. But her eyes land on me. “Kat,” she says softly.
