The Secrets of the Panther -
Chapter 62
BLAKE
As the vampires hissed and guarded us in the compound, all I could see was the state of Michael. Michael scared the hell out of me with his monstrous appearance. Thinking about it, he probably was never human to begin with.
But the sight of Izzy catches me. I tried to run to save her, but vampires held her back as he tortured her. Axel struggled to control himself, especially seeing all the blood covering Izzy. She wasn’t weak; I could feel her power as it was building up.
Lena touches my arm and whispers to us to tell us that Puna must have been harnessing all of their emotions to take him out. She could feel it, too. She also told us that it would be easy to start the attack when Puna and Izzy become one.
I mind-linked Kacey, Paul, and Dale to get ready. They knew what to do. Charley and Alice knew that by their mates telling them through their mind links, they wanted to help Izzy as much as anyone.
Axel wanted to help our mate, but remembering Izzy and Puna said they wanted to do it themselves, we knew we had to let them as this was their fight; Michael tortured Izzy. She wanted to take him out herself, but I knew I would do it if she didn’t, but her power built up was too much.
Axel and the others were fighting the vampires, trying to save Michael. But we could feel the flames that Lena and Izzy created were powerful.
I looked towards everyone and roared aloud, “GET DOWN NOW.”
Kacey and Charley take cover by the barrier as Dale, Paul, Alice, and someone else ducked straight to the floor.
Axel shifted back into my human form just as the fire exploded around us; it killed all the vampires that came into the compound. Dale and I look up slightly off the ground and watch as our mates make Michael scream out in pain and send him back to wherever he came from; he deserves to be in hell.
All the vampires hiss and scream in pain as the fire takes them in one complete movement.
After a few moments, the fire has gone, and I look up to see Izzy. I am so proud of her, but suddenly she collapses onto Lena.
I got off the floor and ran straight to her, pulling her off Lena and into my arms.
Lena looks at me as I sit with Izzy in my arms. “She needs to rest. She used too much power,” she says as she kneels by the side of me.
I look at my beautiful mate, but the smell of blood hits me. “MATE IN HURT,” says Axel in my head as he comes closer to look at her.
Her wounds are not healing, but Puna used so much power that she may not heal Izzy. They need to rest.
I look at Lena. “Is she ok?” I ask, but Lena stares at someone in front of me. I look towards the person.
“She’s a witch,” says Axel with a growl.
I couldn’t help but snarl, but the witch looks at me. “I am sorry young alpha. She saved my mate and also took out the worst mistake he ever created,” she says as she looks at me but turns to look at Izzy. “She is magnificent; I knew she could kill him.”
“Why are you still alive?” asks Lena, suddenly glaring at the witch.
The witch looks at her. “I am sorry for the role I played in all this, but we need to get back as your pack is under attack.”
I forgot all about the attack on the pack. I was so focused on getting Izzy; I forgot all about the pack. But suddenly, the image of the little angel I needed to protect came into my head.
I growl. “We need to get back now.”
I place Izzy in my arms, bridal style, as we all run straight to the pack. Charley carried the witch as Dale had Lena. Everyone else changed into their shifter forms and ran ahead of us to help with the attack.
But as we get back through the pack lands, a mind link comes through. “WAR IS OVER. WE HAVE CAUSALITIES,” shouts my father.
Everything in me wants to run straight there, straight to my daughter. But I look down at Izzy, who is still out cold. We walk back through the pack lands and see many dead vampires, but we also see dead pack members. Many lost their lives today.
As I walk up to the pack house, I can see Graham staring back as he looks at me, the pain in his eyes as he looks at Izzy.
I stare at him but then the little voice I have longed to hear since we walked onto the pack lands.
“DADDY,” she shouts as she gets out of my mother’s arms I still have Izzy in mine, but then a panther comes straight towards her and shifts in front of her, Alice.
She kneels and wraps Allie in her arms, picking her up, and turns to face me. “Mummy’s ok, Allie. She is resting,” she says.
Allie’s eyes go wide at the state of Izzy, and tears form in the back of her eyes. It breaks my heart to watch.
“I’m taking mummy to the hospital,” I tell her. “Auntie Alice will carry you while I get mummy inside.”
Allie says nothing but nods as she stares at Izzy.
We all walk into the hospital as the pack doctor comes running out with a stretcher. “Young alpha, we will look after her,” he says as I place her on the stretcher.
The doctor wheels her away; I stare in the direction he takes her. Alice stands next to me, but the little hands that touch me get my attention as I look at Allie, who holds her arms out to take her.
I take her off Alice, and Allie wraps her arms around my neck her legs clinging to my waist; her head goes straight to my neck as she sniffs my scent, but it’s the wet, silent tears that escape her eyes that land on my shoulder that makes me realize she is crying.
I hold her tightly to me. I can’t help but let my tears slide down. My mate killed the person who hurt us the most and saved us simultaneously. We have to wait to see if she can heal and recover from everything.
I look towards Charley, who hands the witch over. “Place a guard outside her room. No one is to see her here, but also we need to talk to her later,” I tell her.
Charley nods.
Lena comes to the other side of me. “They will come back for her, and also, we are missing a few other people that caused all this,” she says, with a hint of anger in her voice.
Elder Johnson left in an SUV, and Drake too.
“There is also the fact that the witch’s mate was sired to that prick. Izzy unsired him before we sent Michael to hell. But I have to admit I don’t know who he is,” she says as she turns to me.
I looked at her and noticed the worry on her face.
“We need to concentrate on Izzy and Allie for now,” I tell her.
She looks up at me and nods. “We need to make sure we get some help, too; the war is not over, but I think it will happen soon.”
That is a worrying thing, but at the moment, the only two people I need to worry about are my mate and daughter.
