"I just made a bit of a fortune over the past few years," Kingsley brushed it off with a smile. "Anyway, now that you have one of these watches, wouldn't the other six get jealous if I don't buy one for them too? I need to favor all of you equally!"

Courtney gave him a light punch. "What do you mean to favor all of us equally? Who do you think you are? Some kind of emperor?"

Julie looked a little dazed as she came back out amid their banter.

Noticing that unnatural expression on her face, the other customers began to mutter yet again, "It looks like the payment didn't go through."

"Hah! I bet you're right. She's probably going to call security soon. We're in for a good show!"

Just as the crowd began to jeer once more, Julie came over to Kingsley and bowed as low as she could go. Her voice was shaking uncontrollably as she said, "Mr. Nicholson, here's your card and your receipt. I'll make sure the watches are sent to your specified address as soon as we get them!"

Every single person in the boutique was thunderstruck to see the scene that unfolded in front of their eyes.

All of them stood there slack-jawed as they stared in shock.

The women began to squeal.

"Oh my gosh! He looks so amazing right now! I feel like I'm falling in love with him!"

"Nooooo... Why can't I replace a guy as great as him?"

Meanwhile, the men beside them all had darkened expressions on their faces, but none of them could think of anything to say in retort.

Those who had been mocking Kingsley for leeching off his sister just moments ago clammed up at once.

Their eyes were nearly popping out of their sockets.

None of them could believe that this shabbily-dressed young man could fork out three million at the drop of a hat!

The other sales staff in the boutique were also stunned.

They had turned their noses up at Kingsley when he first entered the boutique, so they shoved what they thought was a penniless customer to the third sales team whom they shunned.

Who would have thought that Julia, the manager of the third sales team, would not only close such a monumental transaction, but also receive a hundred thousand as a tip? She had struck gold with this order!

Not even in their wildest dreams would they have thought this could happen.

Seeing that Kingsley and Courtney were about to leave, all the staff in the boutique, nearly twenty of them in total, ran to the entrance.

They quickly lined up on both sides of the door and bowed respectfully to Kingsley. "We hope to see you again, Mr. Nicholson!"

All the passers-by stopped in their tracks in surprise when they saw this. "Is he some kind of bigshot? Why are they seeing him off with such grandeur?"

The crowd that gathered around them was getting bigger by the second, so Kingsley quickly grabbed Courtney and left as fast as they could.

After running out to the pedestrian walkway outside the plaza, Courtney huffed a few times and said to Kingsley, Slow... slow down. I can't keep up anymore..."

"Courtney, your stamina is really bad." Kingsley laughed. "Why are you so winded after a few steps?"

Courtney bent down and rested her hands against her knees as she said, "Oh, hush. I... I spend all day working my brains, not my muscles..."

Kingsley helped her over to a nearby bench. "That's true. You sit in front of the computer all day. It'd be a miracle if you had good stamina."

Courtney took a few deep breaths before turning to Kingsley. "You said you're attending that birthday banquet for Mrs. Hewitt this afternoon, right?"

"Yeah. Their son was a military buddy of mine."

"Just drop me off at school later then," Courtney said. "I don't like going to those kinds of crowded events and places, and I'm not done with my part-time work yet. I need to follow up on it."

"Okay." Kingsley nodded. "I'm glad I'm staying in Diosna City for a couple more days. Otherwise, I couldn't bear to part with you, Courtney."

He grinned. "But I remember a quote that goes, 'Distance between two people is inconsequential when their souls are united"."

"Hey! Whose soul is united with yours, huh?" Courtney huffed. "You've become so cheeky, Kingsley! You're even teasing me now!"

Kingsley chuckled slyly and said, "Courtney, Alice told me all about what you did after I left! You even made a robot, pasted my photo on it, and held it in your arms when you sleep every night! Since I'm back now, why don't you hold me in your arms when you sleep instead?"
