The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 167
She felt awkward and embarrassed. There was even a trace of vague emotions surging within her. Suzy smiled and said, "There's no need. I got my salary and your bonus. It's my duty to teach Ean well, so no additional thanks are needed." "It's alright, we're just meeting up with them for a short while. I've promised them that I'll take you there," said George.
Suzy gave it a thought. "Fine. It just so happens that I'm starting to miss Ean."
"Mm. Then get some sleep!" George lowered his head and kissed her hair. He then got up and walked out.
Suzy watched the door close. She finally calmed down a little, and her heart slowly recovered. Then, she slowly fell into dreamland.
On Saturday, George did not have to go to the company, and Suzy did not have to go to Kelsen during the day. It was almost eight o'clock when they both got up. When Suzy was stretching on the balcony, she heard the doorbell ring.. Suzy thought it was the delivery man delivering their breakfast again, so she casually opened the door. However, she saw Nelly push the door open with tupperwares in her hand. "I was guessing that you must've just woken up. I whipped up some overnight oats, so eat up while they're still cola!"
As Nelly spoke, she walked inside. When she saw the man in his home wear, she froze on the spot.
Suzy turned her head and saw that George was just coming out of the master bedroom. She nodded slightly at Nelly and headed toward the living room. Nelly turned around abruptly. "Boyfriend?"
When she went to the balcony to close the window last night, she had heard some movement and thought it was coming from downstairs. However, when she thought about it now, she could not help but blush. Suzy explained incoherently, "No. He's the landlord and my uncle."
Since Nelly moved downstairs, she had been going out early and returning home late. Suzy went out late and returned late as well, so the two rarely met up. Plus, Nelly had never seen George either.
As today was Nelly's off day, she decided to make some oats yesterday and bring them up to Suzy this morning. Only then did they finally bump into each other.
Did she say he was her landlord and her uncle?
Nelly was even more surprised and filled with suspicion. However, at this moment, it was difficult to say anything. She whispered, "Eat the oats before they get warm. I'll get going now."
"Mm-hmm." Suzy saw her out the door. After placing the tupperwares down, Suzy walked to the living room. Seeing George smoking
on the balcony, she asked, "Nelly made some oats. Would you like some?" George turned his head, and with his face exposed to the sun, he was astonishingly beautiful. He smiled and said, "You said that I'm the landlord? Your friend must think there's some shady deal going on between us." Suzy raised her eyebrows and said jokingly, "Isn't there?" George's jet-black eyes were filled with a wave of light, making it impossible to see through the emotions in his eyes. He was still smiling with his thin lips as he said, "I'm afraid that she might misunderstand you." "It's going to be fine." Suzy was also smiling. She asked again, "Would you like some oats?" George nodded. "Okay. I'm coming soon."
"Mm. Don't take too long, or they'll get soggy." Suzy's eyes were clear and soft. She turned back to walk into the kitchen.
Nelly had even made two sandwiches. Suzy gave one to George. "Try out Nelly's culinary: skills!"
George tasted it and nodded while saying, "Not bad, but not as good as those noodles you cooked."
Suzy raised her head in astonishment. "Has something happened to your taste buds recently?" George's tone was filled with slight mockery. "There's no problem with my taste buds. You're the one who got up on the wrong side of the bed today to believe everything I say." Suzy, "...
She never expected that this man would know how to joke. It was simply unpredictable! The relaxed atmosphere seemed to have diluted the estrangement that seemed to exist before, and the two of them had breakfast quietly. The sun shone in, making the room a little warmer. There was something stable and peaceful about the air. After the meal, the two went out, Jessie was already waiting outside Royal Court. After getting in the car, they went straight to the Laine family's house.
