The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 195
Winona would definitely try her best to replace the bracelet in order to help Bennett win over Hilde's trust and favor. As for Suzy, she also wanted to help George out. Only in the afternoon did she replace out that Bennett had gotten injured and hurt his head. It was said that it was because he tumbled down the stairs.
Thinking of the wine stains on George's shirt after George had gone to see Bennett in the morning, she felt that things were not as simple as they seemed! Did George and Bennett have a complete falling out?
If so, she would want to help George fight for the opportunity to collaborate with Hilde even more.
When it was getting dark, George called her and said that he was heading to Cloud City to handle a couple of matters, so he would come home late. He told her that she had to have dinner by herself.
Suzy replied to the message and ate dinner alone at night. Then, she went upstairs to take a shower and sat on the balcony while reading a book.

She continued thinking about Cloud City and was absent-minded while flipping through the book. After reading it for a short while, Ean and Cooper asked to form a party for a match. Suzy logged in to join the game. When they were playing games, Ean said that he was going to a ball game tomorrow and asked if Suzy wanted to tag along. Suzy replied, "I'm in Cloud City, so I can't go." Ean said in surprise,"Cloud City? Uncle George went to Cloud City as well." There was a twitch in the corners of Suzy's eyes, and after blowing up an enemy bunker, she calmly said, "Is that so? I came here to see my grandfather."
Ean merely let out an 'oh' before quickly immersing himself in the game. He did not ask any further questions. Suzy breathed a sigh of relief. Around ten o'clock at night, Suzy urged the two to go to bed and logged out of the game. Cooper sent her a text, asking: (Zeezee, have you gone to see your grandpa? A few days ago, our teacher organized an activity to care for the elderly. I used my allowance to buy clothes and supplements for the elderly in the mountains. There are still plenty more at home, so give me his address and I'll ship them over to him.)
When Suzy had just returned to the Shirley household, Cooper heard from his parents that Suzy was adopted by a family in Cloud City and they were from the mountains. He heard that they lived in poor conditions, so he thought perhaps Suzy would have use for these things.
Suzy knew Cooper meant well. She smiled and replied: (No need. I'll buy some for my grandpa,
but thank you, Coop!)
Cooper replied: (Alright. Good night, Zeezee.] (Good night!)
Suzy put down her phone with a soft smile on her face. She took a deep breath of the cool night air and turned around to head to sleep.
The lights in the yard were dim and quiet. Countless fireflies were looming in the grass. It was Suzy's first night sleeping alone after coming to the manor. She did not fall asleep peacefully as she had something in her mind. After some time, there was a familiar aura enveloping her. Suzy was hugged into a familiar embrace, and she leaned over subconsciously.
Suzy took a whiff of the man's refreshing scent after he took a shower and asked in a daze," What time is it?"
"It's almost four," said the man softly. Suzy's long eyelashes trembled, and she looked up at the man in astonishment. "It's almost dawn. Why didn't you stay in the city?" It would take at least an hour to drive from the city to the manor. George closed his eyes, hugged her tightly, and slowly said after a short pause, "I wanted to come back." Suzy's eyes paused slightly. She looked at the man's perfect jawline in the dark, her heart seemingly swept away by the summer wind. It was extremely chaotic and hot. George seemed tired, so he hugged her and fell asleep quickly. Suzy also closed her eyes, pretending that nothing had happened. She kept her heart calm. However, her long eyelashes trembled slightly, and the ripples in her heart could no longer stay calm.
When the sun was rising in the east, Suzy had just fallen asleep. When she woke up again, it was already bright outside. George was no longer on the bed. While drowsy, Suzy walked to the balcony and saw that Jessie's usual car was parked downstairs. She went to the cloakroom to change her clothes, and when she opened the drawer, something flashed across her mind. She raised her head and heaved a long sigh.
Suzy finally remembered where she had seen the bracelet before!
When she came downstairs, she saw George sitting on the sofa. Jessie was reporting something to him, "Bennett went out this morning with his injury and was acting suspiciously. It's as if he's looking for something!" Suzy stood on the stairs, looked at the two of them, and said slowly, "I know what he's looking for, and I know where to look for it."
