The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 207
The two talked with each other for a long time. When the antique clock rang, Suzy glanced at the time, got up, and said, "Get some rest, Grandpa. I'm heading to see the Epiphyllums." Josiah snorted at her. "Are you going over to see the flowers or the person?"
Suzy's gaze was broad and level. "I should be going over to see him anyway. He stayed to look at the flowers by himself in order to let me sleep."
Josiah said, "Then who are you staying up for?"
Suzy, "...
Josiah waved his hand. "Fine. Go ahead. It's time for me to go to bed. You can leave after breakfast tomorrow morning. I've already asked Welson to look for the bracelet." "Mm. Then I'll get going now. Good night, Grandpa!" Suzy smiled. "Go on, then!" said Josiah.
He watched as Suzy walked out and slowly went inside the inner room. He could not help but shake his head but laughed when he thought of something. That Laine brat seemed pretty alright for the time being. Josiah hoped he would not be a jerk like his father.
Suzy walked out of Josiah's room and saw a figure sitting on a stone pier outside in the dark.
When she got closer, she realized it was Mr. Welson. He was holding a thermos in his arms and had fallen asleep in the corridor.
"Grandpa Welson!" Suzy crouched down and softly called him. Welson woke up, and when he saw that it was Suzy, he smiled lovingly. "Being old is rough. I fell asleep from waiting just for a short while!" "Were you waiting for me?" Suzy asked. Mr. Welson nodded and gave Suzy the thermos in his hand. "I asked the kitchen to prepare you some tea. It's cold at night, so you should drink something warm." Suzy felt warm in her heart and took the thermos over. There was a flash in her eyes as she said, "You should hurry back and get some sleep."
Mr. Welson's eyes were filled with warmth. "You should come back more often when you're free. Although your grandfather's always nagging on the phone, he misses you very much and has been looking forward to your return."
Suzy felt a lump in her throat. "I will! You and grandpa must take care of yourselves."
"This old body of mine can live for a few more years, so don't worry about me."
As Mr. Welson was speaking, he slowly got up. Perhaps because his legs were numb from sitting for a long time, he trembled slightly. Suzy hurriedly went over to support him. "I'll take you back." "No need. You go ahead." Mr. Welson smiled kindly. "Just collect a little pollen will do. I still have some with me, so if you don't have enough by tomorrow, I'll top it up for you. Besides, your grandfather's not really planning on letting you stay awake the whole night."
"I know!" Suzy nodded. "Mm!" Mr. Welson looked at her lovingly again before turning back to his room. Under the moonlight, he was staggering, and his hair was even whiter than before.
When Suzy came to the River household, Mr. Welson was already there. He was older than her grandfather and had remained a bachelor his whole life. He dedicated himself to serving Josiah and caring for the River household. Like her grandfather, he loved her like she was his own granddaughter from the day she entered the River household.
In Suzy's eyes, both Mr. Welson and Grandpa were the same. She carried the thermos to the garden, where the Epiphyllums had already bloomed. They filled the yard with their aroma.
