Perhaps he pitied her as her senior, he suppressed the cold aura on his body and asked David to retreat. Then, George said, "You can come down now."

Suzy first glanced behind her, then pretended to be calm and let go before jumping down. The moment she landed, she immediately stood behind the man. She refused to shift her gaze to look at the dog that was staring at her. The man seemed to let out a low chuckle and walked toward David.

Suzy looked at the man's back and realized in hindsight that she was too close to him just now. She was so close to him that she could smell the faint cool fragrance on the man's body. It was like the mountain spring hitting the bluestone on Washing Rain Mountain in early spring. It was cold and chilly, and the base note was a hint of wood.

The man walked up to David, squatted down, and patted the dog. He said in a light voice, "David usually doesn't attack people."

Suzy could hear the unusual hints behind his tone. What was he trying to say here? That she was not a good person?

When she looked at the dog, she realized that it was a pure-bred adult German Shepherd, but it was taller and stronger than the average German Shepherd. It was very scary.

Suzy lowered her eyes, imitating his indifferent attitude and saying, "What familiar words. But one often hears news about innocent passersby being bitten by dogs."

George was stunned for a moment, and his dark eyes looked at her. He snorted. "You have a sharp tongue for someone so young!"

Just as Suzy was about to speak, Enoah ran down the stairs with a smile on her face. "You're here, Suzy!"

Enoah had put on delicate light makeup today. She greeted Suzy warmly and introduced her again, "My parents aren't at home now, but there's usually no one at home anyway. This is my uncle. You met him yesterday. You may just refer to him as 'Uncle George'!"

Suzy looked at George, looking as if a fly had flown into her mouth. She merely pursed her lips and said nothing.

George seemed to harbor grievances against Suzy from earlier. He shot her a glance and said, "Don't you greet your elders? You seem to not comprehend even such basic etiquette. I do wonder if you'll be a good tutor."

Enoah did not know why George was targeting Suzy. She merely gave George a look, but he turned a blind eye toward her.

Suzy took a deep breath and seemed to squeeze out the two words from between her teeth. "Uncle... George...!" George acted as an elder and responded to her with a light snort before taking David to sit down on the sofa. Seeing the arrogant George, Suzy suddenly believed that he used to be an evil tyrant in River City!

"Ean is upstairs. I'll take you to see him." Enoah smiled and took Suzy upstairs.

Suzy stepped on the wooden floor and walked up. As she looked down, she saw the man caressing the German Shepherd's head affectionately. The two looked extremely harmonious.

Suzy's heart suddenly felt stifled from this as she felt sorry for Parsi. Truthfully, Parsi had never forgotten George. It would often lie outside George's study and listen to the movement inside, thinking that its master would be inside. Meanwhile, George had already found himself a 'new love' and forgotten all about Parsi!

As they took a turn at the stairs, Enoah said to her apologetically, "I'm sorry, Suzy. I made things hard on you even though it's your first time coming here. My uncle is very nitpicky about a person's shortcomings. But he responded when you called out to him today. If you need anything in the future, he'll definitely help you out!"

Suzy thought, 'I'll never ask him for any help!'

With this thought in her heart, Suzy smirked and said, "Thank you, Enoah."

"You're welcome. We may not be close at school, but I've always admired you and wanted to be your friend!"

Suzy smiled lightly and said, "We are friends!"

Enoah smiled sweetly as she held Suzy's hand. Suzy's body flinched slightly, but she did not try to shove her away.

When they reached Ean's door, Enoah knocked on it and shouted, "I'm coming in, Ean!"

The person inside did not make a peep, so Enoah simply pushed the door open and entered.

What entered their eyes was a small hall with the bathroom on the right and the bedroom on the left. The interior was in the style that boys typically liked. There were comics and fake guns. It was cosmic-themed with all sorts of elements. However, the place was not at all messy.

A ten-year-old boy was lying on the sofa and playing games with a tablet in his arms. He did not bother raising his head when he heard someone coming in.

"This is your new tutor I hired for you, Ean Laine. She's a classmate of mine. You're not allowed to bully her!" Enoah said to him with a stern face. "Do you hear me?!"

Only then did Ean look up and give her a perfunctory reply before continuing to play his game.

Enoah took a deep breath and suppressed the fire within. Fearing Suzy would try to retreat, she hurriedly said, "My brother is a little difficult to deal with, but don't give up!"

"Don't sweat it!" Suzy gave Enoah a reassuring look.

Since she had agreed to it, she would try her best to do a good job. Although George was despicable, Enoah had always been nice to her.

Enoah pulled Suzy back a few steps toward the door and put George's phone number into her phone. Enoah lowered her voice and said, "I have plans with someone, so I have to leave. You go ahead and familiarize yourself with Ean. If he bullies you, you should look for my Uncle!"

Suzy felt that even if Ean Laine were to beat her out of the Laine family's house, George would not bat an eyelid toward her!

Once Enoah left, Suzy walked around the room and toward the desk, where all of Ean's homework was placed. There was barely anything written on the books.

She went back to the sofa, sat down beside Ean, and said softly, "So, about you not doing your homework and stirring up trouble... Are you just trying to get your parents' attention?"

As soon as his parents left, the tutor offered to resign. That meant he had deliberately angered the tutor!

Ean paused his game and glanced over. There was hostility in his eyes that was beyond his age. "Mind your own business, or I'll make you leave within a day!"

Suzy remained unbudging and continued, "Trying to use rebellion to arouse parents' concern is a very childish thing to do."

Ean squeezed the tablet in his hand tightly and did not speak. There was a sullen expression on his face.

Suzy stretched her neck to look over and said, "Are you playing a game? If you do your homework, I'll play with you when you're done?"

Ean sneered. "You made fun of me for being childish just now, but now you're coaxing me like a child. Are all you adults this hypocritical?"

Suzy frowned and said, "Who are you calling an adult? I'm still a kid as well!"

Ean looked at her serious expression and could not help but turn his head with a sneer.

Suzy reluctantly smiled and took her phone out. "Forget it. I don't have the right set of skills for this job anyway. Since I'm already here, I'll leave after playing games with you for a while." Ean looked at her suspiciously.

Suzy had already opened up her game. She lowered her eyes and said, "I'm being serious. I don't want to tutor you either. It's not easy to tutor some kid from a wealthy family. It's your sister who pitied me and insisted on me coming!" Ean frowned and asked, "Why'd she take pity on you?"

Suzy pursed her lips as her voice became lower, "I didn't have parents growing up and my grandfather was the one who raised me. He collected wood and worked hard to make money for me to go to school. He got sick a few days ago, so I need to make some money for his treatment."

As Suzy said these words, she deliberately sounded somewhat choked up.

Ean frowned even more. He hesitated for a moment, put down the tablet, and asked, "If you become my tutor, will you have the money to treat your grandfather?"

Suzy was secretly delighted. She had truly placed the right bet. Ean had not spent much time with his parents and had a deeper relationship with his grandparents. Hence, hearing that her grandfather was sick, he would feel a bit of empathy. Suzy turned her head. Her eyes appeared somewhat wet as if she was deliberately hiding her sadness. She said calmly, "Yeah, I get more from tutoring you than a kid from any other family. I'll be able to pay for my Grandpa's treatment sooner as well." Ean gave it a thought with a reluctant look on his face. "Fine. I'll let you stay here. It's only for your grandfather's sake, though."

Suzy wanted to let out a laugh. He did not even know who her grandfather was, yet he was doing it for his sake!

She appeared calm, but it was as if she was placed in a difficult predicament. "Letting me stay doesn't cut it. You have to cooperate with me and finish your homework as soon as possible. If I'm useless as a tutor, your uncle will drive me out of here in a jiffy. It's not easy earning the capitalists' money!"

"How troublesome!" Ean placed his tablet down and walked toward his desk. "Then let's finish it quickly. And don't forget what you said just now. You'll play games with me after we're done with my homework!"

"Yes, sir!" Suzy smiled and stood up.

...

George was downstairs for about an hour. When he went upstairs and passed by Ean's room, he suddenly had the urge to see if Suzy had the capability to discipline Ean.

The door was ajar, and before George approached closer, he heard Suzy shouting inside.

"I'm dying!

"Where are you? Come over here and save me!"

Ean's irritated voice sounded soon after, "You noob! Who are you aiming at?! That's me!"

"Hmm?"

George pushed open the door and entered. Just as Suzy raised her head, perhaps she was still immersed in the game, there was a dumbfounded expression on her face! "What on earth are you doing?" the man asked with a sullen face.
