Holly cried out and told her the entire incident again. Finally, she begged Cora to ask George to help intercede in this matter so that James would let Catalina go. "So, that's the case?" Cora said in a low voice. "Alright. I'll talk to Mr. Laine about this when he has the time." "Please do so, Cora. Catalina is still in the police station. She has never experienced such a thing before and must be terrified to death. You have to hurry up."

Cora was getting slightly impatient now. "I got it. I have to go back to my meeting now. I'm hanging up."

Before Holly could say more, the call was hung up. She did not dare to call again.

"What did Cora say?" Jeremiah asked immediately.

Holly replied, "Cora said that she'll talk to George about it."

"That's good!" Jeremiah was relieved. Holly was still a little worried, but she could only wait for now.

On the other hand, Cora returned to the conference room to continue the meeting. After an hour, the meeting was over. She followed George back to the president's office.

Cora remembered Holly's concerns and contemplated how to bring this up to George.

Holly and her daughter were both deceived by one man, and Cora was embarrassed to even mention such a matter. She was afraid that Mr. Laine would make a joke out of her family.

George sat behind a huge desk with a floor-to-ceiling window behind him. Standing by the window, one could overlook half of River City. The man was wearing a well-fitted tailored suit and had a handsome face with an indifferent temperament. He was signing several documents with the pen in his hand. Seeing Cora acting like she had something to say, he raised his head and asked in a low voice, "Is there something the matter?"

Cora was a little hesitant. When she was getting interviewed for Laine Corp, she had once firmly said that she could distinguish work and personal matters very well. Now, Cora was afraid that disturbing him with such private matters would ruin George's impression of her.

Especially if it was such a humiliating matter.

Suddenly, George's phone rang and the man picked it up. He walked to the window to answer

it.

The sun was shining in, shrouding the man's tall and straight figure in bright light. He had placed one hand into his trouser pocket and used his other hand to hold his phone. His voice was low and magnetic, and his whole person exuded a dazzling light. Cora's gaze grew gentle, and she stared at the man's back view without blinking. It was actually Suzy who called George. She had not seen him all morning and heard from Ean that he went to the company.

"Are you working today?" "Yeah. I have some matters to attend to at the office. What's the matter?" the man said warmly. "It's just that Ean said something about his father's birthday coming up. He asked me to accompany him to choose a birthday present in the afternoon." There was a soft light reflected in George's eyes. Then, a gleam flashed across as he asked, "You don't feel like going?" Suzy paused. "It's not that. Most people don't like it when the tutor interacts with the children privately, so I'm asking for your opinion on this."

George curled his lips into a slight smile. "In your eyes, am I someone who'll clearly draw a line between work and private affairs?" Suzy pursed her lips and said nothing. George said to her warmly, "Go ahead. Pay attention to both of your safety. You may get anything you like as well. Ask Fuller for reimbursement. Think of it as a work benefit." Suzy replied with a light 'mm-hmm' before adding, "Then, I won't be bothering you from your work now. Goodbye." Cora was stunned when she heard the man's tone. George had always been an indifferent person who kept a proper distance from anyone. She had never heard him speak so gently. Although she could not see his expression at the moment, he must be in a good mood.

Who was the other party?

It did not seem like his girlfriend or anything. When the man hung up the phone and turned around, Cora had already made up her mind. She took a step forward, saying gracefully and with dignity, "Mr. Laine, I have a favor to ask of you."

George sat back on his chair and looked up. He asked indifferently, "What is it?"

Cora repeated the incident that happened to Holly and Catalina to him, saying apologetically," My cousin has been spoiled rotten by her mother. She acts impulsively and doesn't think much about the consequences. She injured James Collins' girlfriend because of her rashness. However, she's young, so the rest of her life will be ruined if she goes to jail. I'm pleading with you to put in a few good words for her in front of Mr. Collins for my sake."
