The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 99
Sunny's face turned pale, and hatred grew inside her heart. Suzy must have done this on purpose! She was jealous of her excellence and jealous of her being favored by Yara. She took this opportunity to retaliate against her. This must be the case! Sunny refused to allow Suzy to get what she wished for. Not only did she want to get all of Yara's attention but all of the Shirley family's assets in the future would be hers alone! Why on earth would she let a worthless country bumpkin snatch it away?!
Suzy had bought pasta from the supermarket and returned to the Royal Court. While cooking the noodles, she received a call from Yara.
Once the call got through, Yara pierced her eardrum with a cold and angry voice, "Suzy Shirley! Why'd you bully our Neenee? Where on earth did you learn to fight like a thug?! I know that you despise Neenee, but I was the one who lost you. If you're angry, you should be
Seeing that the water in the pot was boiling, Suzy hung up the phone and placed it on the side to concentrate on cooking the noodles.
Yara called her again, and Suzy just silenced her phone.
She could probably guess what Sunny had said to Yara after she got back. It must have been something like Harold wanting to introduce Sunny to a friend but when the two were having a pleasant meal, Suzy went over and beat the other party up.
Hence, it resulted in Sunny having offended Harold as well as the Shirley family.
All of the faults were on her.
Even if Suzy tried to explain, Yara would not choose to believe her words.
Olive was right. Yara was an idiot. Even though she was her biological mother, she still had to admit this fact. People's feelings were limited. Since all of Yara's maternal love had been given to Sunny, there was none left for Suzy. Having blood ties could not make up for her 20 years of absence.
The next day, when Suzy finished her first class, she received a call from Jarold.
Jarold's tone sounded a little tired when he asked, "What happened yesterday, Zee?" Suzy said, "Sunny said that she didn't like Giannis Xenakis and asked me to come and help her
out."
Jarold was silent for a moment, then his voice softened slightly. "I believe you. Neenee hasn't
been herself these days. It might have been since you've returned. She has no sense of security in this home now."
Suzy could sense that Jarold was trying to help Sunny, so she did not respond to him. Jarold continued, "Last night, your grandfather called me and gave me an earful. The Xenakis family might not be prepared to let things slide, but don't be afraid, you still have me." Hearing this, Suzy wanted to tell him that she could solve the matter regarding the Xenakis family. However, before she could speak, Jarold added. "Initially, I thought that I'd bring you home after you and the Laines settled the divorce procedure. But with things being this way, you should stay out for a while longer. If you don't have enough money, please let me know." Suzy's eyes were cold, and she smiled lightly. "I'm renting a house now and won't be going back for the time being." "You've moved out of Green Garden?" Jarold was surprised, and he quickly tried to explain, "I didn't mean it in that way. It's because your mother is furious and Neenee's not in the right state of mind. Even if I bring you home now, everyone will get upset. Perhaps you'll end up feeling aggrieved." Suzy responded lightly, "I know." They brought her back, but they did not give her a place at home. She understood this when she first returned to the Shirley family. Hence, back when Suzy signed an agreement with the Laines which stated that she had to live in Green Garden, she agreed without any hesitation. Yara did not know where she was going at the time, but she did not try to stop Suzy. She never cared. She was probably glad that Suzy would not be around to compete with Sunny for any favor! As for Sunny, Suzy could pretend that she had no clue about all of the petty tricks Sunny pulled. However, if Sunny planned on continuing to play with her like a fool, that would be her biggest mistake! Some people would constantly assume that they were the smartest cookie in the room, but this, in fact, was another type of stupidity altogether!
