El stood smiling at Conner as he stood outside in his formal pack suit. He looked damned hot in it and there was only one reason he’d made it down here on time, for his own ascension to being the Alpha. She’d gone all growly on him and he’d pinned her to the wall, kissed the damned hell out of her, told her to ‘calm down, now wasn’t the time.’ hadn’t much liked it but had done as requested, knew he was righ

It had been 4 years since he and his father presented their case to the packs Elders, here in the Wandering Moon Pack. To his father’s dislike, the pack had agreed that Conners’ way was much better suited to them. That they wanted to be able to study what they chose. Not be allocated something that was suited to their Alpha.

Logan had not been stood down by the elders, but two of them had resided inside the pack for the past four years to monitor Logan and the way he was with the pack members. Not that he much liked this at all, he was unhappy about it, but it seemed that not even the Elders had taken kindly to his harsh words about it being his pack and he should be able to run it as he saw fit.

This pack had laws and he’d broken more than one over the years, starting with Conner’s mother, who was here today with his sisters and her Mate, sitting proudly watching as the Pack was handed over to Conner by his father.

Logan had, had enough of being bossed around by the Elders, which is what he muttered one day, and had opted to retire and let Conner and herself be in charge. She was more than a little nervous herself, but Conner’s mother had been helping her to learn the ropes, over the years. She’d been the Luna here for a very long time. Knew what to do and how to do it, which was good, and seeing as they already knew each other, it made things easier. She was also nice, always smiled at El when they went to visit.

Though today was the first time she had been back inside this pack since leaving Logan, he’d not been happy about it. Didn’t really get a say in that, she’d looked right at him when Conner had stalked from the Alpha’s office when his father had voiced his opinion that he didn’t want Anna in the pack.

She’d let him go, he needed a minute, Conner and Logan got along some days, not so much on other days.

El had stared right at Logan and stated flatly, “It’s not about you. This is Conner’s day, and his mother should be here. Was the Luna in this pack once. Has every right to see her son become the Alpha to this pack. She will be coming. I have already invited her and her Mate and all his sisters, deal with it or deal with Petal and I.”

She and Logan still didn’t get along. She could see that he loved her mother and took good care of her, but she had yet to become a member of his pack, was still technically a Willow Moon Pack member and had every intention of staying that way while he was in charge, had informed him of that after the vote’s had been cast.

To his annoyance, not one of the Elders voiced an objection at all, when he’d turned to them and brought it up. Her grandma had laughed, knew they wouldn’t, who wouldn’t want a kitsune to help run a pack, they were just happy to have her here. She had spoken with one of them not so long ago in private, while Conner was down in Salt Lake City completing an exam.

She didn’t mind the Elders in the pack, they seemed like a reasonable bunch of men and women, she’d finished getting her degree a year ago, and had been dedicating herself to learning how to attend to the Luna duties. Had learned a lot over the past year.

Her mother still had the office, up on the first floor, but Conner wanted her down near him, had already designed and was having her office built right next to his, she’d told him it wasn’t necessary, but he’d just growled “Oh, yes it is.” And near on everyone in the room had laughed at him. His studies kept him from her three and half days a week. He didn’t much like it, but it was how it was, so he could study what he wanted.

His father finally finished making a speech and looked at Conner, “Son, I hope you will do your best to be a good Alpha to this pack. You must learn to be stern at times, put your foot down when it is needed.”

Conner just raised an eyebrow at the man, but said nothing. From what she had seen over the past four years, the pack members did like Conner, even the gypsies were all happy with him taking over. She watched as the packs ceremonial blade was used to hand the title over to him officially and his father stepped back, to let Conner make a speech.

She stood the moment it was over and cleared her throat, had not been standing next to him because he was worried about her, being pregnant with their first child, just one a girl Petal had already told her, but she had kept that a secret from even Atlas and neither Conner nor Atlas could get them to tell him.

El walked over to him as he watched her, put a hand up to stop him coming to her. He thought she was fragile, silly man. “Alpha Conner, please let me be the first you initiate into your pack officially.” She stated to him, surprising him completely.

They had discussed it and he didn’t want her to do anything she didn’t want to, and that meant staying a Willow Moon Pack member if she wanted to be. She had led him to believe she was happy doing that, he’d not even questioned it. Watched as a smile lit up his face, heard his father mutter something unintelligible. Didn’t really care what his father thought.

Stepped right up to him and smiled as she held her hand out palm up to him for him to initiate her, she could see that he was really happy, “Are you certain my Luna?”

She nodded her head. “Petal and I are very certain that our child should be born a pack member.” Inclined her head ever so slightly. Watched him cut his palm and then hers press their palms together and accept her as a pack member. Felt that Alpha Luna connection to the entire pack and shivered just a little.

He leaned down and kissed her softly before presenting her to the pack officially as the Luna to the pack. She felt the loss of connection to her Grandma and her aunt Juliana, but knew that was coming, they were still her kin and always would be.

Walked back to her chair and sank down to watch him as the entire pack, one by one, stepped up to accept him as their Alpha and pledge their loyalty to him. Watched as Brayden looked right at her and she smiled at him, saw him shake his head ‘You’ll be in so much trouble, you know that right.’ He mind-linked right to her.

‘I’ll survive it.’ she replied right back.

Knew exactly what he was talking about, had already felt the first contraction, it was why his eyes had moved to her, he’d sensed out her pain. It was just the first one, it would be fine. Sat and smiled as everything moved on.

Waved both her grandma and aunt away with just a slight hand gesture that Conner wouldn’t see, so that her grandma and aunt knew she was alright. Petal was fine as well, and the contractions weren’t so bad. Still ten minutes apart, their daughter was going to arrive tonight, likely before Conner could even lead his pack for a massive pack run.

Smiled right at Conner after his eyes moved right to her when she took a long deep breath in and tried to ignore the pain, his eyes narrowed right on her, but she would give nothing away, he only had about fifty pack members to go. She could make it, could feel Atlas inside her mind and Petal was suddenly all chatty and happy, the pain had passed as she too was trying to keep it from her Mate.

Both Conner and Atlas turned back to their duties and she watched as the last one was done, and near sagged with relief, Brayden was on the move as were both her grandma and his mother. She heard the pack doctor snap at everyone to move out of the way. His eyes moved to her and she bit down on the pain and tried to smile, but the contractions were so close barely two minutes apart now.

“Eliza Greystone, are you in Labour?” He was all Alpha in that minute, was annoyed with her for not letting him know.

“Yes.” She gasped, as her grandma and Brayden both laid hands on her, “Oh, that feels nice.” Both of them were actively using their calming ability on her.

Saw Conner shake his head. “You are too stubborn sometimes,” he sighed and then headed for her. Walked right over to her and picked her up, excused himself to the pack and got a lot of laughing from them. He hollered to Adam to start the celebrations, he’d announce when the next heir to the pack was born.

Carried her all the way to the packhouse, she was never going to make it to the pack’s hospital and even she knew it, so did he, right up into their suite with her grandma, aunt Juliana and the pack doctor Jeanie all in toe.

“You’re completely crazy, baby. You know that right.” He murmured as he put her down on the bed.

“I didn’t want to interrupt you moment or have only…” gasped as a contraction hit her, breathed through it till it was gone. “have half the pack loyal to you.” she finished her sentence.

He leaned right over her and stared right down into her eyes. “Next time this happens I’m going to s***k you.”

Even Petal chortled inside her mind, but the laughing was over a moment later, “It’s time Alpha.” Both Jeanie and her Grandma stated. She watched him sit right next to her on the bed and hold her hand, smiled right at her. “Boy or girl?” he asked one more time.

She shook her head no, still wasn’t going to tell him, even this close.

Their daughter arrived a few minutes later, and he didn’t complain once about her crushing his hand, heard his bones c***k even, he just told her she was doing a good job. Got to see him smile as Jeanie held up their tiny daughter, who had a shock of black hair and was crying already, she smiled when she saw a glimpse of those silver-grey eyes of hers.

“As beautiful as her mother.” Conner smiled down at her. “May I announce her, or would you like to?” he asked her as they sat together on the bed, with their little daughter being held by them both.

“You can announce her, Conner.” She smiled right up at him, they had picked out names for either a boy or a girl. “Your first official announcement as Alpha.”

El felt his mind connect not only to hers but to the entire pack “I your Alpha, would like to announce the birth of our daughter. Jewel, looks just like her mother. Who is doing well.”

She could actually feel the joy of the pack, there was a lot of happiness coming down the tether, they were happy for the birth of the next generation it seemed. “Do you think she’ll be like me or you?”

“Ask Petal.” Conner asked right back.

“She won’t tell me, told me that’s a surprise for both of us.”

Saw Conner chuckle now. “She is too cheeky.”

“Yes, she is.” El smiled already, knew Petal was planning for the next litter, and it was going to be more than one, had told El already. She didn’t mind, it wouldn’t be until Conner had completed his studies and returned to the pack fully. But then they would be filling their suite with the little pitter patter of Kitsune and Wolfen paws apparently.
