Daniel, fighting with swift punches left and right, floored the group of bruisers in no time flat. Avery'sface was a picture of shock as she beheld the spectacle; the country boy really knew how to handlehimself!

Smart was frozen in disbelief. He couldn't fathom how, in less than a minute, Daniel had taken downall eighteen muscle-bound men he’d arranged for the showdown. Each of these brutes was knownfor being a one-man army.

Taking deliberate steps, Daniel advanced toward Smart. Seeing Daniel approach, panic flashedacross Smart's face.

"What...what are you going to do?" he stammered.

"What am I going to do? What do you think I should do? You called in eighteen brutes to 'welcome'me; it would be impolite not to return the favor. If I didn't reciprocate your kind hospitality, wouldn'tthat disappoint you?"

Daniel was now standing right in front of Smart, an innocuous smile plastered on his face. Smart,the scion of the Evans family, had seen it all and wasn't easily scared. But right now, he was afraid.The country boy before him, though smiling, seemed like a devil.

No, not just a devil—he was more terrifying than a devil.

"Don't come any closer! Get away from me!" Smart's voice trembled with fear.

Daniel certainly wasn't going to back off, instead, he asked with a cheerful tone, "Smart, how do youthink I should repay you?”

"You... I'll let you go today, so get lost! Don't push your luck, or I’ll punish you!"

"Oh wow, Smart, you've got quite a sharp tongue! You want to punish me? How exactly? I don't likeholding grudges; I prefer instant revenge. You welcomed me with eighteen brutes, so let's discusshow to settle this, shall we?"

"What are you going to do? I warn you, don't mess around!"

Smart was visibly shaken; he could tell from Daniel’s eyes that this country boy was no saint.

Instead of responding directly, Daniel turned to Avery. "Mom, what do you think I should do aboutthis?"

"I am not your mom! Stop calling me that! Whatever you and Smart have going on is none of mybusiness, so don't ask me! I'm not interested!"

Avery made it clear she wanted no part in their conflict. She was a sharp woman who knew exactlywhat Daniel was implying.
