The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback -
Chapter 108
Chapter 108:
? ? ? ? ?
Randolph paused, surprised by the comment. “That's all?” Just because she’s your ex-sister-in-law?”
Caden’s smile widened slightly. “What else could it be?”
Randolph was silent for a moment, searching for an answer. Finally, I let out a small laugh. “Fair enough. “I guess he’s like family to you.”
Randolph never seemed to like Caden getting involved with his sister-in-law. Once he was sure that Caden's interest in Alicia was nothing more than polite concern, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. Slowly, I have turned the conversation back to business matters.
Although Randolph always made a good profit, opportunities to collaborate with someone like Caden didn't come along often. After all, who would complain about making more money?
Randolph leaned towards him, adopting a tone filled with excessive admiration as he tried to draw Caden into the deal. Caden listened in silence for a while and then looked at Randolph.
“What do you need, Mr. Ward?” Randolph asked.
Caden nonchalantly replied, “I think I could use some hangover soup right now.”
Randolph was speechless. He held back his frustration and brought the soup while looking visibly displeased. Caden took a sip and then said, “Joshua has been taking care of your banking business, right?”
Randolph looked away for a moment. “In business, it is always wise to have as many valuable customers as possible,” he said. “When it comes to generosity, you cannot be compared to him, Mr. Ward.”
Caden took another sip from the mug. Randolph leaned forward and asked, “Mr. Ward, what do you say? “I realize that three hundred million is a small amount for you.”
Caden pursed his lips. “The soup is too sweet. Tell your maid to use less honey.”
Randolph didn't know what to say to that. "Is Caden playing me?" I have wondered.
Caden set the bowl down. “Take it easy. Joshua has been doing well lately. “I’ll make sure he helps you more if the opportunity arises.”
Randolph gave him a polite smile. “No need to bother, Mr. Ward. If I need anything, I can always contact Joshua directly. “He wouldn’t refuse.”
Caden replied with a slight smile, “Oh, yeah?” It was clear that Randolph had some influence over Joshua. After finishing his business discussion, Caden looked out the window. Several high society people were gathered outside, basking in the afternoon sun. They were chatting. The area radiated elegance and luxury, but Alicia was nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Alice walked out of the bathroom, only to hear a sudden scream. She turned around to see where the noise was coming from. Ted was there, holding a large water gun, spraying it in her direction.
Ted had been waiting for the perfect moment and managed to catch her off guard, leaving her no chance to react. Water splashed all over her, soaking her instantly. Her silk dress clung tightly to her body as soon as it got wet. Alicia felt exposed and humiliated.
Ted laughed loudly, waving the water gun and mocking her. “Look at you, ugly duckling! “Everyone can see you!”
Alicia's expression hardened. Ignoring the water dripping down her body, she grabbed the hem of her dress and searched for something to defend herself with. She wasn't going to let this brat get away with this. Realizing what she was about to do, Ted ran off.
Even as he moved, he kept taunts: “Come on, ugly girl! Catch me if you can!”
With longer strides, Alice quickly caught up with him. Ted struggled to escape, but she grabbed his curly hair and gave him a hard lesson. He was surprised that she was so much stronger than him and that he had no chance of escape. Overcome by fear, he burst into tears.
Alice let him go, looking at him with contemplation. “You are lucky you are a boy. Try again, and next time it won’t be so easy.”
Ted shouted angrily, “Witch! How dare you hit me? “I’ll have my mother deal with you.”
Alice's gaze hardened, and she was about to lash out. But before she could, a maid rushed over.
“Miss Bennett, you should change before you catch cold,” the maid suggested. “Why don't you go in and change your clothes?”
As Ted ran off, Alicia decided to let it go for the moment. “Is this how everyone in the Reyes family behaves?” she muttered as she wrung out her soaked dress. Ted might be just a child, but his foul language was too much.
The maid remained silent and gently guided Alice towards a small building on the other side of the courtyard. It was a bit of a walk, but as it was still within the property, Alice did not question it too much.
"Why do I have to change here?" she asked, curious.
The maid gave her a polite smile. “Miss Bennett, your clothes are soaked. You probably don't want the security guards to see you like that. It’s closer here and you can change quickly before you come back.”
She opened the door and handed Alice a clean set of clothes. Alice looked down and noticed that her dress had become almost transparent, revealing her underwear. It wasn't very appropriate.
When the maid left, she quietly closed the door. Alice quickly changed and hung the damp dress in a ventilated place to dry.
Just outside, a small pond reflected the afternoon light. The water was pristine, clear and calm, surrounded by carefully laid flowers. A few delicate flowers swayed gently in the breeze, like dancers moving to a gentle rhythm. Alice took a deep breath, letting the fresh air fill her lungs. It felt good to get away from the chaos and enjoy a brief moment of peace.
Unfortunately, peace was always short-lived.
As he rested with his eyes closed, he heard someone enter the room. He assumed it was the maid, but instead, it was Ted. This time, he wasn't alone. A group of children from wealthy families had joined him, each looking ready for mischief.
Without warning, Ted aimed his water gun directly at her, spraying her in the face and hitting her in the eyes. Her vision blurred and she nearly tripped. Before she could react, Ted grabbed a stick he had brought and hit her with all his force.
