Chapter 163:

? ? ? ? ?

Caden finished his shower and walked out, noticing Alicia busy in the kitchen.

“What are you doing?” he asked, coming up behind her.

Alice didn't look up as she replied, "I know it's late, but I suddenly felt like having lasagna."

Most of the preparation was already done.

Seeing her like this lifted Caden's spirits.

"Why are you going to all this trouble? We could just order takeout."

“It's late, and it's cold outside. Most people are probably already asleep. No one would want to be woken up to make lasagna,” Alice replied.

Caden chuckled.

I knew there were plenty of places that delivered at any time for the right price.

However, I appreciated that Alice wanted to do it herself.

I have leaned a little closer to her.

"When did you get the ingredients for this?"

Alice felt his warm breath on her skin and shifted slightly, feeling a little uncomfortable. “This afternoon.

Earlier that day, after cooling down from their argument, I remembered how Jerald had scolded Caden, and how he hadn't eaten much afterwards.

Feeling guilty, she decided to do him something. She thought lasagna would be the easiest option.

Caden watched her closely, realizing that she had made the lasagna for his sake.

As she skillfully moved her hands over the ingredients, something stirred inside him. The urge to help her grew stronger, and he couldn't resist.

After washing his hands, he joined her in the kitchen and helped her finish the lasagna.

He cut the tomatoes with surprising speed and precision, quickly becoming his trusted helper.

“Have you done this before?” Alice asked.

“No,” Caden replied, completely focused on the task at hand.

Alice raised an eyebrow. “How did you get so good?”

"I'm quick to record things."

As the lasagna was removed from the oven, the rich aroma filled the room, its warmth driving back the chill of the winter night.

When they finished eating, Caden leaned closer to him, taking advantage of the proximity of the table to prolong the moment with Alicia.

They soon lose themselves in each other.

They used one condom after another. Caden felt satisfied and leaned towards her, biting her ear lightly. “That was great. I feel revitalized.”

Alicia pressed her hand over her mouth, her cheeks burning as she avoided his gaze.

Caden looked at her, his gaze intense, filled with an overwhelming intensity. “Do you have something to say?”

Alice felt herself sinking under the weight of her gaze.

“Caden,” she murmured breathlessly. “Cum fast.”

His voice dropped to a whisper, barely audible. Caden feigned ignorance. “What do you mean fast?”

Alice's words faltered as tension rose within her. “No… I meant…” But before she could finish, a soft moan slipped past her lips.

Time blurred as the night stretched on, shrouded in darkness.

Afterwards, Alice took a shower and lay weakly in Caden's arms, completely exhausted.

The room fell silent and Caden gently played with a lock of her hair.

Alice felt so sleepy that her thoughts began to wander.

"Caden," I murmured.

"Forks?" he asked, pressing his chest against hers.

"I'm happy," she whispered.

Caden paused, his arms still around her waist, before replying, “Okay.”

Alice frowned, her eyes still closed. “You should say the same. It’s rude not to.”

“No one taught me any manners,” Caden replied, feeling the warmth of her breath on his skin, brushing her hair softly against his.

He pushed her hair back, again and again.

"Are you really not going to say it back? Caden, I even made you lasagna!" Alicia commented.

Her voice was soft and childlike, heavy with sleep. Her words trailed off as tiredness took hold.

Caden smiled at the childish tone in his voice. “Why is it so important that you hear me tell it?”

Alice spoke with clear frustration. “I want to hear you say it. But you refuse to say it. You're an idiot. “This is the first winter we’ve spent together.”

This time next year, they may no longer be together.

Caden's expression was hidden in the darkness. “I guess you’re right.”

Alice waited for him to continue, but he remained silent.

"It doesn't matter," she murmured. "It doesn't matter anymore." Then she fell asleep.

A week later, the painting arrived.

Following Caden's instructions, he was delivered to the apartment.

That afternoon, I came home to replace the painting still wrapped, tucked away in a corner.

He took off his coat and saw Alice on the sofa, drawing. “Aren’t you curious to see what it is?” I have asked her.

Alice looked up. “It's your package. “I can’t open it without asking you.”

Caden was silent for a moment before grabbing a utility knife to open the package.

Alice came over and asked, "Is this for me?"

“Why wouldn’t I be?” Caden replied.

Alice paused before replying, “You always say that buying presents is such a pain. Why would you bother buying something like that for me?” Despite her skepticism, there was hope in her voice.

I have examined the package, trying to understand it. “What is it?”

Caden didn't answer immediately. "You'll see soon enough."

When she opened the package, Alice saw the painting and was speechless.

Emotions overwhelmed her: gratitude, surprise, shock, and sadness all mixed together.

It took him a few seconds to regain his composure.

"How did you end up with my mother's painting?" he asked in a trembling voice.

Caden watched her closely, watching for her reaction.

“Joshua sold it to me,” he replied.

“I specifically remember putting this painting in a safe place. How did you manage to get hold of it?” Alice asked. The confusion on her face was evident.
